Worrying stuff

It seems that most countries are planning to be done with evacuations by Friday/Saturday, seems that they're expecting the remaining military evacuation to take Monday and Tuesday and then be done

I honestly hope that people outside who don't get onto flights can make it home in peace

Someone said that the Taliban has confirmed 13 casualties in the first explosion but idk where the source for that is so

Its going to be a challenge to keep these airlifts going until Monday, the ground situation seems to be becoming more hostile and desperate.

Shocking its come to this really. The mood really is turning against Biden from left, right and centre.

Doesn’t seem good due to the situation right now for any NGOs trying to get out with animals tbh

I just hope after all this, lots of support and thanks is being applied to the embassy staff of all nations frantically trying to get people out. I’ve not seen from anyone a word of thanks to them and they are sitting ducks, can you imagine, probably in an office having to process paper after paper and not even really being able to fight etc if there was to be trouble. And then trying to get to the airport after all this…. And if not, they are the ones on the paper stamping people’s exit routes- first backs to the wall and that. And I know they said they were withdrawni g people but I can’t imagine everyone could work remotely on visas when half the people probably didn’t even have a bag of clothes never mind a phone for emails….. so someone has to stay and do this
I can’t imagine how it feels for ngos to get out/not get out (although there is trying to be hero at the wrong time). But to be employed for the enemy and not getting out…..

But Pen got through. And there was no way he wasn’t after all the media attention, unless the talibam went for him. He’s all over the media, the sun etc would have had the gov for it, ex marine and that. And some of this is because he could shout loud enough. But it’s not about that now, it’s about people.

A lot of diplomats etc are no doubt being left as sitting ducks, and have probably just been overwhelmed with work to even get their situation blowing up in the media. And let’s face it, if they had to travel to Kabul on a last push, they were ducked. I saw today some were being advised to shelter and head for the borders. How can we do this to people who have effectively gone to work for an embassy to help people living/visiting there in some sort of functionary role.

I'm praying that pen farthing and all the cats, dogs and donkey are safe. Apparently 14 million Afghan people are expected to b facing starvation this year, if they don't get them out then they will be eaten! 😡😾

More worried about the people personally, a significant number of these people will be starved even more when they are forced into slavery and marriage, can you ever envisage a pregnant 11 year old being valued enough to be fed if they can grape her at that age?? And now the bomb has gone that’s it, game over for them.
and that’s from someone who cried about the animals being stuck in that lorry earlier

They’re not getting out now, I think we have to be realistic, the airport is going to be such carnage that no planes will get in and out. Just because the taliban agreed terms, isis-k didn’t and from what I gather they really are the scary ones. I shudder to think a tenth of how people must feel now

I think realistically they can't secure that perimeter and I don't think there is a will, even if the taliban agreed to temporarily place more troops in to secure the area until next week.

Plus an Italian plane was shot at last night and I can't see anyone wanting to witness scenes like that downed flight over Ukraine a few years ago.

Just awful.

From what I'm seeing and reading our government is away to get alot of abuse and to be honest they deserve it. They knew this was going to happen and 2 of them went on holiday and we are now like this

I really wanted all the animals to get out but now they have been stuck in trucks in the heat for 13 hours or so and euthanasia is the kindest option. They are a huge target, just let them go peacefully - and that is coming from a huge animal lover, I’m just thinking of their welfare.

reports suggest children have been killed in the blast. I can’t believe this is happening all over again. These poor people 😢

The west always leaves destruction and pain behind wherever they go. Britain, USA, Western Europe. We aren't the policemen of the world, we should have stayed well away. This is the consequence of empire building. Afghanistan has long been an incredibly difficult place penetrate. The west never learn.
