Receptions are allowed from April onwardsCan anyone tell me if before 12th April, receptions are included? I know it’s 6, but is that just ceremony or reception too? I can’t find on the gov website for that period.

Gov Uk official guidanceAs in from 12th April... not before that date?
ETA - if anyone has a link they could post that specifically says receptions cannot go ahead before 12th April, that’d be great please. I have seen where it’s been phrased “weddings” and then “weddings and receptions” as the time goes on, but if it has very obvious wording that’d help us with our venue. Thank you![]()
Thank you so muchGov Uk official guidance
Step 1
105. Rules around funerals will not change; these can proceed with 30 attendees and wakes with 6 attendees, though not in private homes. Weddings will still be able to proceed with 6 attendees only but will no longer be limited to exceptional circumstances
step 2
118. At this point, funerals can continue to proceed with up to 30 attendees. Weddings, receptions, and commemorative events including wakes will be able to take place with up to 15 attendees (in premises that are permitted to open).
Amazing news, so pleased for you! We’ve managed to change our date to a week later on the 26th June so hopefully no restrictions but I still don’t trust them not to change. The suppliers and venue have been absolute angels helping me out tonight.
Italy had a similar rule last year, up to 100 people, much more sensible but obviously more outdoor components there. Now I just need to figure out how to get there with no jabin japan you just have to have less than half of the capacity of the venue. that's much more reasonable
My bad, thanks for the correction.Wedidng receptions of 15 go ahead from April
It increases to 30 in may

When is your wedding supposed to be? I really hope you get some positive news soon. We were supposed to be 19th June which was two days away from restrictions and so we took a chance to try and find a new date. We’ve now got the week later but will have to find a couple of suppliers and it’s taking ages to find out if there is a registrar available. Got a bad feeling there won’t beIt sounds like good news for England, I'm in Scotland so no dates etc. However it's hard for me to get excited/hopeful because I'm just imagining a situation like Christmas where so much is promised but it's all snatched away at the last moment.
I suppose at this point I'm just trying to protect myself against even more disappointments, anyone else feeling the same? This time has been so brutal and I genuinely feel like covid has massively derailed my life plans.
I’m in Scotland too, was hoping for a bit more clarity rather than hearing it may go back to level system. Hopefully things progress well and weddings will get a clearer picture soon!It sounds like good news for England, I'm in Scotland so no dates etc. However it's hard for me to get excited/hopeful because I'm just imagining a situation like Christmas where so much is promised but it's all snatched away at the last moment.

They really don’t. I am actually starting to feel more confident about mine going ahead despite the travel restrictions, and my family are all really keen. I also think it will be an amazing way to end the past 18months. However my friends yesterday were saying they were terrified about things opening upAlthough family and friends sympathise it's easy to feel like no one else really understands the extent of the struggle!! xxx
Im in the same position , was august 2020 now august 2021 , I do not believe it will happen with no restrictions and I won’t allow myself to believe it will . I turned my phone off after Monday’s announcement after many friends and family messaging about the good news , I understand everybody’s excitement for us and it is appreciated, I’m just not in that mind frame and I couldn’t bare to have to reply to another message about how “lucky” we are , because I don’t think we are , it’s still 6 months away - I don’t even want to start to plan anything I truly can’t see it happening restriction free! Once stung twice shy!Wedding is supposed to be late August to there is a bit of time but I honestly feel like I can't even let myself have hope because I've just had to much disappointment the last year (sorry to be such a downer)
I hope you manage to sort it! Did you end up getting any legal advice? Surely now they have been told what weddings can be like by then they they know they can’t keep all that money now! It’s so difficult still to think about how things might be.
Our date is still booked for the first week of April. It won’t be going ahead as we’re trying to cancel but keeping hitting a brick wall with our venue, who want to retain half of our money for it NOT going ahead. I just feel like I have so much information in my head, it’s going to explode.
We’re thinking of asking them to calculate our costs based on 6 of us wedding only (which is all it could be on that date). We wouldn’t go through with it, but it’s bound to be a lower cost than what they want to currently retain. We just know it won’t be as easy as that though, they’ll find a way somehow to argue.
And then there’s the question of where we actually go from here. I think I still want a smallish wedding, but later in the year when there are no restrictions. I’m lying awake at night thinking about it... and yet I don’t know why, because we can’t do anything until we receive our money back anyway.
Yeah we’ve paid for a first consultation with a solicitor and he looked through all of the correspondence between us both and says he strongly believes what they’re saying would stand up in court. He advised us to go back and say we’ve sought legal advice, what we’ve been told etc. We did do and they argued against itI hope you manage to sort it! Did you end up getting any legal advice? I’ve not long emailed them and asked where we now stand following on from the latest announcement, as they’ve not been in touch. We’ve worked out that if we stick with that date and have wedding only, we’d still get back more than what they’re offering at the moment.
Yeah I do wonder if they are. The more I hear back from other suppliers or hear stories from others, the angrier I get! Someone in the family has just amended her wedding (abroad first half of May) and they’ve offered her next year during half term at no extra cost AND they’re going to ring us all tomorrow to sort out our bookings. Just such good customer services and ours is just titI’m so sorryit’s bad enough having to deal with all this wedding drama without the added bonus of your venue acting like this. Have you managed to speak to any other couples who were due to get married at your venue around the same time? They might be treating a lot of people the same as you

Yeh I feel like you’ve been so unlucky, our suppliers and venue have been lovely! I’m sure it will all work out for you because there is no way they can get away with doing this to you. It must be extra hard sorting out your booking for your friends wedding when you are struggling with yours I really feel for youYeah I do wonder if they are.
