Thanks so much everyone for your replies earlier 🤗 I do feel better for a vent. I definitely think family/friends are not asking in order to reduce our stress, but it does make me feel a bit lonely in the situation.

Thankfully we aren’t under any pressure re starting a family, so there’s no good reason that we can’t delay, and we are lucky to have fantastic planners who will take all the stress of the associated wedmin. I just need to get over the feeling that I’m being frivolous in wanting to wait for the wedding I’d envisioned, and realise that it’ll be worth the wait. We have been together since I was 17 - waiting a year is frustrating but it’s nothing in the grand scheme of our relationship 😂

Thanks again for listening to me rant 💖
Really annoys me when people are like oh you want a big wedding then! No I don’t just want the people I love and talk to there and for it to be a celebration. Not after Westminster abbey and live coverage over the bbc
THIS IS SUCH A MOOD 🙌🏻🙌🏻 Preach!! Made me actually smile for the first time today haha

Completely agree I had a cry about this earlier saying I just want someone to ask me a normal wedding question like how am I having my hair or something stupid. Rather than not mentioning it at all or start giving you their opinions! Feel free to rant away 🥰

I am feeling really positive about Mondays announcement now! I'm thinking by summer we could hopefully be having 30 guests? X

I reckon you will probs get the 15/30 numbers by then but if they are quoting June : July for hospitality , not to sure it receptions will be a go

I feel for everybody 😢 I’d been very positive as you know but now I’ve completely lost it. Why have we had all these promises of the vaccine will get us back to normal really soon and now they are being more cautious than ever. Yes they need to be careful and make sure hospitals aren’t overwhelmed but seriously if millions more vulnerable are going to be vaccinated by the end of this month what is the point?

I was happy with 15 but the more I think about it it seems really silly wearing a big dress for what will essentially be a sit down meal? We will probably still be paying way too much money for that. We want to get married this year but I’d rather have a registry office with just our parents.

All tbe excitement of getting ready with my bridesmaids in the morning? Partner getting ready with his mates, having a fun time, staying over and eating breakfast together the next day. Not the main part of a wedding but still so much quality time with people that we aren’t going to get. It was bad enough knowing we can’t have stag and hen, honeymoon etc. I’m properly gutted.

I feel like if they’d said at the beginning of this year it’s still going to be a very long time before things get sorted then we wouldn’t have had a bit of hope left. It’s tit and I don’t know how to make any of you feel better.

I know a lot of people think we are shallow or whatever for wanting a nice wedding but I look back through years of family and friends weddings and I feel sad that we won’t get our special day 😢

I’m sure I’ll be able to feel more positive when I’ve accepted it. Hope everybody is doing ok! ❤❤

My anxiety is sky high working in the industry. I feel dread at the could bes. To see such flippant comments online makes me think noone cares about us which is so sad as weddings are a huge life event....a right of passage.

For what it's worth, you are not silly for wanting to wait for the big wedding and celebration, but at the same time you are not silly for wanting to no longer put your life on hold and wanting a small simple legal ceremony.

Lets hope we get some answers on 22nd Feb. I know they are hearing us it's whether they care enough xxx

In Ireland we are in the same boat. Trying to get people to sign petitions to get the Government to put a plan in place for weddings. All we've been told so far which was a brief comment was indoor gatherings of 50 wouldn't happen until October 😓

I really hope they are clear on Monday about social distancing measures and large gatherings etc. My husbands in a wedding and functions band and obviously every single booking was cancelled / postponed last year and they have a huge list this year, pretty much every weekend throughout May-September and a few weddings in the autumn and winter. The gov are going to have be clear on what is going to be allowed because how can they expect couples to wait until a few weeks before their wedding to know if they can have a night do 😑

Have just seen in Wales they are not limiting guest numbers allowing venues to make their own risk assessments from the 8th March. Guessing how many the venue can social distance etc. I know it is only the ceremony at the minute but guessing the same rules will apply once receptions can go ahead. Good news though fingers crossed Boris does the same in his plan 🤞

That sounds really promising! There’s no sense in it being a one size fits all rule - the venues will know what can be done safely, it’s right to let them make the judgement!

I’m excited because my cake maker is sending us some cake samples to try 😂 I’m so excited it’s the most weddingy thing we’ve done in a while.

I’m waiting patiently for the announcement on Monday. I know it’s not going to be what we want straight away but I hope we have some sort of positive news 👍🏻

The news about Wales sounds really promising 😀

A wedding number update - https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-56158405

Looks like from 12 April, weddings of 15 people. Not clear if receptions/wedding breakfasts are included.

From 17 May, weddings including receptions for up to 30.

From 21 June, unrestricted weddings!

With a caveat of if the data allows it..

I hope this is good news for some of you 🤞🏻 Personally I think I will be postponing until 2022 because of potential travel quarantine and restrictions, but it’ll be worth it if life gets back to normal in the uk.

I’m 5 June, a little heartbroken that a non restricted wedding can happen 15 days after 💔
