I’ve been following this thread like a hawk but seem to have missed your original post and now can’t find it 🙈 sorry! when are you due to get married in Italy??

We’re due to get married in Lake Como in July (changed from July last year) but I just can’t see it going ahead at all!! As you’ve said it’s more the travel between here and there which I think is going to be the issue, we’ve already had our flights cancelled (which we rebooked late last year when we still thought this summer would be fine 🙄)as have a lot of our guests, which I think tells us that they’re not planning on travel being anywhere near normal this summer! Even if we can get there I think there is going to be conditions such as testing/possible vaccine requirements/possible quarantine etc. Which is going to make it next to impossible.

I spoke to our photographer last week who’s coming from the UK - he was supposed to have 12 weddings in Europe this summer and we’re the only one who hasn’t yet cancelled/postponed 🤦🏻‍♀️

Our venue are being really awkward and trying to make us hold out as long as possible before even discussing the possibilities of cancelling/postponing again, and seeing as though we’ve already paid them nearly £14k we don’t have many choices really but to just hope they play ball 😫

I agree with you regarding 12th April, we can’t hold on any longer than that really to be able to actually finish planning/get everything in place in time.

I’ve had enough of it all tbh, if we hadn’t paid the venue so much I’d just cancel and look at it again in a couple of years.

On a more positive note I’ve got everything crossed for you UK ladies who are this summer - we have 5 weddings this August all rearranged from last year so I’m thrilled that they may (hopefully!) be able to go ahead 💗🙌🏼
Hey 👋🏻 We’re the first weekend in September.

This is our first date so luckily we don’t have much money tied up, but that’s interesting what you said about flights.. Who did you book with? None of our guests have booked anything, we’ve asked them not to until the April announcement but now I’m worried if we get a clear plan which doesn’t require full vaccination and quarantine, that prices will skyrocket so not sure if that’s good or not 🤦🏻‍♀️ Our route is run by Ryanair so I know I won’t get my money back 😂

I totally sympathise re worrying about getting everything ready in time if it does go ahead - we have nothing! We have amazing planners who are dealing with a lot but because of closures at the end of last year we haven’t been able to get our dresses or suits, or those for the wedding party. No invites either. We planned a small wedding even before Covid but I honestly don’t know how people manage 🤦🏻‍♀️ I know what you mean re wanting to postpone if you didn’t have money tied up, I feel like this has taken a lot of joy out of planning the wedding. I can’t believe another year and we’re pretty much in the same position.

Ive got my fingers crossed for you 🤞🏻 Grit your teeth until the 12 April xxx

For those flying with Ryanair, Michael O Leary said before he wouldn't be implementing the vaccine passport, whether he stands by that now or not remains to be seen.

Still a tit show here in Ireland. Absolutely zero insight into when it will change from 6 people.

Ah that’s good then that it’s later, it gives most of the summer to try and sort things doesn’t it so hopefully you might have more of a chance!! 🙏🏼

We were flying out with Ryanair and home with EasyJet. Both cancelled and moved them to the days either side which would be an extra 2 nights for all of the guests which isn’t ideal!! Yes I know what you mean, it’s a tough one isn’t it as to whether to risk it and book whilst it’s cheap or wait 🤦🏻‍♀️

My biggest regret is doing it ourselves and not having a planner, because we’re having it all at one venue we thought it would be easy enough to do ourselves. Which it was until bloody Covid, then having a planner would have made things much easier! I completely agree it really has taken all of the joy out of it and it’s just a stress - we’ll just have to wait and see (which I feel like I say about 10 times a day at the moment 🤣) but we’ve got so much to do if it can go ahead I’d have no idea where to even start 🙈

Thanks lovely, you too!! 🙏🏼🤞🏼 Xx

I just want to say to all those brides with weddings approaching, that we had our day on Sat, we were originally 120 but went ahead with 30. Our venue in Cornwall were fab and it felt like a normal pre Covid day!! We were able to spend time with all our guests and we had just the best day ❤

I’m so happy you had your special day and enjoyed it 😅 we are 26th June! Expecting it to be 30 guests now because of everything being said in the media and are going to go ahead. I’m happy to have the smaller wedding but the stress beforehand has been horrible. I’ve heard so many people say how perfect their small weddings have been so that makes me feel more positive!

Hope you’re settling into married life nicely 😀

I attended a 30 guest wedding 2 weeks ago. And bar my own wedding (16 guests 7 years ago) it was the best wedding I have been to!

Yes masks were annoying. Yes the rules are a bit backwards. But did it stop us having a good time? Absolutely not!!

We could still dance (had to be outside). Could still drink (just had to sit down to order and consume). It was bloody glorious

Congratulations 👏👏
I love hearing this news. Makes me so happy.
A couple of friends have now married with 30 guests.
Another friend is at the end of aug (hopefully no restrictions) and I am SO excited to be going to a wedding.
After 3 cancellations we have now booked a winter wedding for 2022. I'll be so bleeping livid if by then we're still in restrictions 😭 seriously my head won't cope!

I had a 15 person wedding in December, reduced from 120. It was lovely and to be honest I’m more upset about not being to able to go (and probably not for a while either) on our dream honeymoon which we have been saving up for ages 🥲

My son is getting g married in August, postponed from last year. They’ve decided to run with 30 if the rules don’t change but it’s such a shame for the other 60-70 guests who’ll miss out. I’m sure it’ll be lovely either way but it is stressful not knowing what you’re planning for.

Definitely 26th June and no idea 🤷‍♀️ we will be going ahead with 30 after postponing last year but would be helpful to know. Can’t help but get annoyed when we go out for a meal and 200-300 are allowed to sit indoors (social distanced) but weddings are capped to 30 regardless or whether it’s indoor or outdoor makes no sense!

I’m not sure I get the ‘no dancing’ rule either 🤷🏻‍♀️
The latest guidance just says dancing is advised against. Which means that it isn't banned. But values are prohibited from providing a dance floor.

So at the wedding I was at 2 weeks ago, we were allowed to dance outside, DJ was inside, so the music wasn't loud but was loud enough to enjoy ourselves 😊

It says advised against so it really depends how relaxed the venue is. We had a epic band and dancing (there were tables and chairs on the dance floor as required 🙄)

Is anyone else still in the boat of waiting to see what their wedding is going to be like in June /July? I know it’s probably going to be 30 guests but wish they would just tell us now 😂

No but have two weddings to attend as a guest in July, one was only planning for 30 guests anyway but the other there is supposed to be around 80 guests I believe. Feel so bad for our friends, we postponed from April and wanted to postpone to July but our venue made us go for September as they didn't trust the government! MP's just do not understand how long weddings take to plan and arrange, a weeks notice is just not good enough

I think your venue did right by not trusting them lol! I don’t think I would mind if it didn’t seem so ridiculous. The cases and number of deaths just doesn’t justify delaying the restrictions in my opinion. We will all have lovely weddings whatever happens but I’m just fed up of disappointment after disappointment now.

Mine is October (found a new venue phew!) and yes, I’m biased, but there isn’t anything in the data that suggests wedding capacity can’t increase, and certainly not past 21st June.

ah lovely! I hope you have a lovely wedding and still plenty of time to get organised and plan now. Will just have to wait until Monday to see what they announce for mine. I’m ok with a small one but my fiancé will be disappointed he can’t have the party bit after with his mates. It’s the money and working how much we will still be spending on a small wedding that annoys me!
