2021 Weddings

We’ve postponed our wedding from October 2020, to March 2021 and now to October 2022! People who are still going ahead in June/July, are you still going to go ahead with your original number of guests? Going from having 30 or less to unlimited is a massive jump. I worry that lots of guests may not feel as though going to a huge wedding right after the restrictions have been lifted is a good idea. I know I wouldn’t...it’s so hard

We’ve changed ours from 19th June to the 26th. Hoping they won’t delay then 21st date now we’ve changed. It is strange how you can go from one day to only having 30 to then unlimited. I know most people who I’ve told are really excited for our wedding and still want to go but it might still be 30 anyway. It’s so hard knowing what to do. Damn Covid.

The guests I’ve spoken to are really excited some have been booked hair and make up appointments etc. They are probably more excited then us as we have it in the back of ours minds something will change

I know what you mean though it is a big jump, I’ve not spoken to all our guests so there may be some that don’t feel comfortable coming. I know some people who were worried last year are a lot more comfortable as they’ve already had their vaccines so feel safer mixing. But I guess that won’t be everyone

We are going to send our invites out soon and as long as people are honest and say they don’t feel comfortable coming I wouldn’t mind. I’d just be mad if they say they want to go and at the last minute decided against it 🤣

Just wanted to share this update regarding weddings in April/May in case you’d missed it -https://ukweddings.org/updates/statement-16-03-21 this whole thing really is a shambles at this point. I hope no one is affected 🤞🏻

We are still planning like it’s going to be a normal wedding (26th June) but know there is a chance it will still have restrictions in place.

I’ve just read it and that is absolutely stupid 🙈 what are they doing? None of it really makes sense.

I think there were a few ladies on here hoping to still get married in April/may so hope you’re all doing ok 😀

Hi,

I was originally September 2020, then May 2021 and now postponed til July 2021.
Im feeling really positive! We have 60 day and 70 evening so think it’s a manageable number. Back to planning in full swing :)
All the best everyone xx

Ahh it’s nice to read some positivity, got my fingers crossed for everyone 🤞🏻

Sadly we are still so up and down. Italy are way behind us in vaccinating, have paused use of the AZ vaccine, heading for lockdown and a third wave, but claim they’re going to have offered to all adults by September. I just can’t see how that’s possible but it still seems a bit too early for us to cancel and i feel bad for our suppliers. I am confident that our wedding day itself could go ahead on our date but the travel from and to the UK is my biggest concern. I think we’re going to have to postpone if the global travel announcement on 12 April doesn’t give us the answers we need (which I doubt it will because when has it ever😅) but we have pretty much come to terms with it now.

I really hope you manage to get over there and have your wedding. I know they aren’t looking good at the moment but we know how much things can change in a small amount of time so fingers crossed it will go ahead for you 😀🤞🏼

How are you finding planning? Had you already got most things sorted anyway? We’ve still got quite a bit to sort and I’m terrified I’m not going to get it all done in time. I’m actually having nightmares. Last night I dreamt that I’d forgot to buy most of my decorations for the reception 😂😂

We needed a new cake maker which I think I have got sorted (doing cake tasting twice has been a bonus NGL) and the suit hire company we were using has closed so will need to sort that and a few other small bits but pretty much everything is done. Finding planning is quite hard due to people being on furlough so difficult get things booked/sorted! Main worry ATM is losing lock down weight so I can fit into my dress!

At least they are things that are quite easy to get sorted 😄 I know what you mean about the dress, I’m struggling to lose any more weight and when I’m feeling stressed I just reach for the chocolate 😂

We are May 😩😩😩😩 I give up wedding planning
I feel for you it’s such a rubbish situation 😢

We were June 2020, then June 2021 then October 2021 and then our venue went bust 🙃 torn between finding a new venue for the date or just pushing for 2022 now 🤷🏻‍♀️

Is/was anyone here due to get married before 12th April?

I’m just trying to work out what the rules would be if they’re now saying about this change for 15 guests from that date.

It was set to be 6 guests and the exception rule was lifted. But from the latest news I am taking that to mean that a wedding of 6 actually couldn’t go ahead inside at a private wedding venue...?

The guidance is hopefully being published today and it is suggesting on twitter it may have been a communication error. Let's see what the guidance says as it is highly discriminatory to say a wedding can take place inside a church but not inside a licensed wedding venue!!

I’ve been following this thread like a hawk but seem to have missed your original post and now can’t find it 🙈 sorry! when are you due to get married in Italy??

We’re due to get married in Lake Como in July (changed from July last year) but I just can’t see it going ahead at all!! As you’ve said it’s more the travel between here and there which I think is going to be the issue, we’ve already had our flights cancelled (which we rebooked late last year when we still thought this summer would be fine 🙄)as have a lot of our guests, which I think tells us that they’re not planning on travel being anywhere near normal this summer! Even if we can get there I think there is going to be conditions such as testing/possible vaccine requirements/possible quarantine etc. Which is going to make it next to impossible.

I spoke to our photographer last week who’s coming from the UK - he was supposed to have 12 weddings in Europe this summer and we’re the only one who hasn’t yet cancelled/postponed 🤦🏻‍♀️

Our venue are being really awkward and trying to make us hold out as long as possible before even discussing the possibilities of cancelling/postponing again, and seeing as though we’ve already paid them nearly £14k we don’t have many choices really but to just hope they play ball 😫

I agree with you regarding 12th April, we can’t hold on any longer than that really to be able to actually finish planning/get everything in place in time.

I’ve had enough of it all tbh, if we hadn’t paid the venue so much I’d just cancel and look at it again in a couple of years.

On a more positive note I’ve got everything crossed for you UK ladies who are this summer - we have 5 weddings this August all rearranged from last year so I’m thrilled that they may (hopefully!) be able to go ahead 💗🙌🏼
