@Barbie2020 i can’t remember if you’ve mentioned a date for your wedding in June, but I have my fingers crossed for you?!
I’m 19th June so we could have 30 guests but the restrictions end 2 days later so it feels worse than anything 😕 I was happy with a smaller wedding but it still means leaving people out and to know people will start to have the weddings they want two days after feels like a bit of a blow. I know people are in a much worse situation but it’s floored me. 💔

I’m 5 June, a little heartbroken that a non restricted wedding can happen 15 days after 💔
Gutted for you! We are two days before the restriction end. I wasn’t expecting restrictions to end at all this year really so I was happy enough having the smaller wedding. Knowing people can have their dream wedding 2 days later feels devastating. I’m happy for people who are getting the wedding they want but this news feels so rubbish when we were so close 😞

Oh no 💔 I didn’t even think of it like that. Do you think you’ll continue with your smaller weddings, or look at postponing?
We are going to stick to it but I’ve just messaged my venue asking if they have any dates still available after the 19th. It’s a long shot anyway because of all the suppliers I will have to chase. I’m sure we will be ok with our 30 guest wedding if needs be but would be happier if we could have 40 guests 😀

It’s always worth an ask. We’re still trying to come to an agreement with ours as they’re still being difficult. Will see if today changes anything x

Have you still not sorted it? 😩 they will have to come to some sort of decision now when things are a bit clearer.

No just back and forth constantly, it’s exhausting! I am hopeful we will have a small wedding this year though. I don’t know where or when, but I’m determined to get married 😂

Keep us updated on yours. Will keep my fingers crossed for you.

I know, that’s exactly how I feel, I’d made peace with a 30 person wedding (I was hopeful for 50/60) but the end of the restrictions completely so soon after has broken my heart, I’m just devastated.

Our venue is fully booked until 2023... and a few £1ks more! And we can’t cancel as we’d loose so much money in deposits. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m so gutted for everyone! I’ve just messaged the venue and they got back to me really quick. They have the 26th June available which is only the week after. Knowing my luck they would just delay the restrictions again but I’m just seeing if the suppliers could maybe do that date.

I’m imagining it will still be the 19th though. It’s bloody horrible and stressful.

One positive is my partner is happy that he should get some sort of stag now 😂

Your wedding will be lovely and you will be doing it for the right reasons, to get married! I feel a bit of a sell out trying to change dates but I’d rather try than not. If i know we can’t change then 30 people it is.

A wedding number update - https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-56158405

Looks like from 12 April, weddings of 15 people. Not clear if receptions/wedding breakfasts are included.

From 17 May, weddings including receptions for up to 30.

From 21 June, unrestricted weddings!

With a caveat of if the data allows it..

I hope this is good news for some of you 🤞🏻 Personally I think I will be postponing until 2022 because of potential travel quarantine and restrictions, but it’ll be worth it if life gets back to normal in the uk.
Seems odd that they say receptions can go ahead but hospitality is only allowed to be outside at that point

I think indoors hospitality starts in May too?

The more I read the details, I think the ruling on weddings is appalling. 10,000 in a football stadium is fine (sharing toilets, queuing for food, using all the same entrances and exits) but only 30 for weddings? At the very least it should be capacity based on the venue’s space. I feel so sorry for couples with dates before 21 June.

I posted on the recap this afternoon that I wasn’t sure about wedding receptions in April. I think it’s been confirmed that they’re not happening now all the info has been put on the government’s website.

Totally agree. I don't see how the risk for 10,000 in Wembley travelling by public transport etc. is the same as 30 at a wedding?

It should be down to each venue and, like the restrictions on large indoor venues cinemas/theatres etc, it should be a percentage of their capacity.

exactly, it should depend on the venue. random but the other day i read that in japan you just have to have less than half of the capacity of the venue. that's much more reasonable

Yeh that makes sense.

There are venues near me that can easily hold 300+ for Hindu weddings etc. So I don't see why a wedding of 100 couldn't take place there when everyone could easily socially distance!

My friend is getting married 22nd May, postponed from 23rd May last year. Thankfully 30 works for her as a lot of guests from their original 70 were coming from overseas. But it seems ridiculous that at her venue she can only have 30 in the room that has capacity for 150 and in the restaurant next door they can have 200+ from different households. But because they will be eating dinner with table service it is allowed??

Edited to fix typos

It’s more based on that social distancing goes out the window when booze is involved lol I got married last year with 10 of us and my MIL was going around hugging us all 🙈🙈🙈 if she was like that with us lot , imagine what its gonna be like on a scale of 100 people

I understand that but I don't see how 10,000 football fans are the same risk. They will mostly be travelling by public transport, same entrances/exits, toilets, food/drink facilities etc. And in all liklihood will be drinking too

Just seems so ridiculous

We’ve managed to change our date to a week later on the 26th June so hopefully no restrictions but I still don’t trust them not to change. The suppliers and venue have been absolute angels helping me out tonight. I still actually need to sort a registrar out first thing in the morning watch there be none available 😭

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that everybody manages to sort their weddings and find something that suits them. I feel like even may is still a while away and things could have already improved drastically by then.

I feel like we’ve all been in this together and just want everyone to have the wedding they have always wanted. 😔

Can anyone tell me if before 12th April, receptions are included? I know it’s 6, but is that just ceremony or reception too? I can’t find on the gov website for that period.
