It's difficult to listen to Trump or his supporters crying "fraud" when he himself and his whole campaign have been prepping this conspiracy theory for months and months.

Recounts are allowed to be requested of course - but I believe that's only within certain percentage brackets? i.e. Wisconsin will probably be one he'd want recounted.

The silence from some Republicans is deafening - apparently Mitch McConnell declined to make a comment according to Stephen Colbert (pic.twitter.com/nO3qOOwPr6)

Twitter is now full of people saying that the Democrats are trying to steal this election, and that's it's fraud and fixed.

This is so dangerous - I've never hated Trump more - he's a dangerous, evil man - a true sociopath. He's only interested in his own victory and doesn't give one shit about America, it's people, his ridiculous supporters.

This is when we need people to come out and have enough balls to say what he did last night was dangerous and wrong.

Feel very worried for America this morning

No offence to any Americans here.. but hardcore republicans Americans terrify me. It’s like... another universe ! And it’s only gotten crazier since Trump got in. There was a man broadcast on UK news not so long ago screaming at the rally that Trump drove through with Covid 🙄 - that he would die for his president and he was the greatest man on earth and what not. This... about Donald Trump...
It's completely insane - all the merch they wear, and how angry they all are? It's a cult - they're the biggest threat to safety in the US today I would say.

I can see a lot of anger and violence if (when I hope!) Biden wins.

Scary time for America but hopefully the end of the last 4 years of complete insanity

I was listening to CNN and they were saying if Trump doesn't concede and leave the White House they may have to phyiscally escort him out. I have visions of them taking out one of the windows and loading him onto a crane like they do with very obese people because in his misery he ate too many burgers and fried chicken.

This is worrying, this is going to stir up some of his most fanatical followers, I wouldn't expect him to concede at this point, no one does, but he seems determined to be carried out of the White House kicking and screaming, leaving a trail of fetid shit behind him

I mean... does it not say enough when you have to take your views over to the conspiracy thread 👀

I might be a petty betty but I muted all of the trump supporters. I don't want to see or reason with anyone who even attempts to defend him or could even remotely justify liking or supporting him. I understand leaning towards republican in politcal views but I personally don't know how you could still stand for or with a party that has Trump as it's (global) representative

I’ve seen lots of American women online worried about Biden’s stance on abortion v. Trump’s stance. Discussing Planned Parenthood and full term abortions being allowed. I am not familiar with their beliefs. Lots of discussing of socialism and communism encroaching.
it's just scaremongering. The abortions laws aren't being changed to be able to abort at full term in a normal circumstance. The law is the same as the UK where you can abort at full term if the life of the mother and/or baby is in danger and under threat. Nobody has been pushing for willy nilly abortions.

As far as this forum goes, you’ll likely find much more crass comments and vulgar language from those who support Biden and/or oppose Trump.

It’s not limited to this board, but with the celebrities too. The ones who publicly support Trump are more about promoting his policies than trashing Biden. The ones who are supporting Biden are busy posing with Trump’s severed head, calling for police to be defunded, endorsing rioting...
I don't support rioting or defunding the police. But I also don't support a pussy grabbing, racist, lunatic con artist. There is a problem when armed Trump supporters protest and the police just stand there, yet unarmed Dems protest and the police fire tear gas at them.

It
not sure I agree with that tbh,
I think the trump supports are so vocal in support of him, and very intimidating with that. They’re not trying to vote him out (like Biden supporters are) they’re trying to keep him in, and how many times can you post about “creepy Joe” sniffing hair.
So I can see why democrats are pointing out the many, many faults and errors made in the current President, to appeal to people to get him out. Not keep him in. If that makes sense

also there is a LOT of anger towards the man who’s pulled the strings the last few years, I think those who have been effected under his administration are being very vocal about how tired they are, it’s been a pressure cooker for a while now, powers are shifting and the public that feel like they didn’t have a voice are now are speaking out.
I called Trump and his complicit followers a cunt and I stand by it. In fact, I never would have said it before. But I am calling a spade a spade now. Anyone that votes for him after the last 4 years is vile.

I know we do have some Trump supporters who have been active on these election threads who have made really interesting contributions in the past,

I don’t want to call on anyone incase they’d rather sit this out but I would be interested to know how they’re feeling right now, and do the stand with and agree with Trump and his actions/tweets over the last 48 hours
I think it’s fairly well known that I am Team Trump. I am sitting back at the moment and taking everything in. I don’t think he is doing himself any favours at the moment. Happy to come back at a later date when all results are in and we have an official outcome and have a discussion.

For the firework display they played "A Sky Full of Stars" by Coldplay, most people will not know this was the song played at his son's funeral in 2015. Very moving.

Biden is so much more graceful than Trump. Trump constantly attacked Biden's family, his son Hunter having had a drug addiction which he's overcome. He also called military people that died in war suckers and losers, which I'm sure was insulting to Biden as his son Beau fought in the military. But not once did Biden attack Trump's family even though there was a lot he could have said. He lost a lot of military votes because of that.

Fuck them. They don't want democracy. You don't stop counting because it isn't going your way. Lunatics.

👆 This is why living in the US is such a weird fucking experience. It's honestly like living on another planet sometimes. 😵

There are many large jurisdictions that are still counting ballots, several court challenges for impropriety in ballot handling (one of which is already before the US Supreme Court) and at least two large states that will be required by law to undergo a hand recount due to the very thin margins between the two candidates. Once each state's electors certify thier counts with each of the 50 states, then those certifications must then be certified as accepted by Congress before any President is lawfully certified.

So has Biden won it or not? I’m assuming so, regardless of the above? It would be a pretty bold move if not.

The president must be sworn in on January the 20th.
Yes correct Biden has won regardless of what Trump tries to do. None of it will stick!

The only states Trump can recount are GA and AZ but neither have called their election yet so neither Biden or Trump have been awarded the electoral votes( Biden is ahead in both). Chances are if they do a recount Biden will still win both states which will bring him to 306 electoral votes. Even if Trump magically won GA and AZ ( which Biden has been called for in both) it would only bring Trump to 251 so either way Biden is past 270 electoral votes which makes him president elect ( Sorry not sure if I’m making sense. Alot of numbers.)
Trump can fight this all he wants. He is just blowing smoke. None of it will stick. They are now deciding who in the WH will convince him to concede. They are already starting to turn on one another. Jared being the first in the firing line. There is a reason Trump was told to go golfing today when it was announced Biden won. This administration is pathetic, the way they handle this man with kids gloves.

Im absolutely sick of partisanship in politics. I mean, I know it’s always been that way but it benefits literally no one and causes echo chambers and regression.

I’m ever so slightly hopeful for the future. I think Biden will lead from the centre, which is the most cohesive line of government. It can only make things more stable, surely?
