The apology is all Scientology, right? A theory all of the 'I' not the us/we.

He snapped and walked very calmly to the stage? I think he's got a bleedin' screw loose and is massively entitled.

I think that’s exactly it, thinking of it as a normal workplace is right, if I hit someone in my workplace I’d be sacked for gross misconduct and we are told often that if we are out with the company we represent them then too so would he punished the same.

Shit like this is so manipulative. So we have to accept bad behaviour because if the perpetrator is made feel bad they will kill themselves!?? Wtf.
Their argument is so akin to the classic abusers trope of "if you'll leave I'll kill myself", I'm guessing the similarities are lost on the people who like these kinds of posts....

What happens if Chris, takes his own life, or now suffers from some sort of PTSD. Smith needs his head caving in. Whatever consequences Smith suffers he brought on himself. Wish people would stop this BS supporting this violent cunt.

I guess Rock has to weigh up the economic side of things, he was most likely reeling from the incident and as he appeared to have no support he may not have felt pressing charges was the right way to proceed. But if I was him I'd be angry at his employers failure to protect him, if I was assaulted at work and it was preventable I'd certainly be asking a lot of questions.
Defintely, he was completely let down. I can kind of understand why security didn’t intervene immediately, it was Will Smith and nobody anticipated that he was going to hit him but there was no excuse for letting him return to his seat to start screaming. He should’ve been removed and they should’ve cut to a break to let CR compose himself considering American TV normally has a commercial break every 2 mins 🤷🏼‍♀️

Smith shouldn’t have been allowed to accept his award on the stage and someone on his “team” should’ve advised his arrogant ass to make a quick getaway instead of being filmed laughing and dancing afterwards. There seems to be no pics or footage of Chris Rock from after the ceremony? I guess he wasn’t in the mood for a party after being lamped on live TV.

Jim Carrey doing something bad doesn't justify what Will did.
Exactly this.. everyone literally out for blood for anyone who has spoken up against will smith or constantly keep bringing up harvey and roman.

Look what they are doing to jim, or zoe kravitz. Bringing up shit from years ago… while conveniently avoiding that talk show bit with Smith where he literally took the piss out of the alopecia guest 🙄 because he ‘was a kid’.

Not a single thing anyone has done can excuse what Will did, dragging people through the mud won’t change what happened.

Liam Payne, are you tired from all that tap dancing around the subject? You'd think someone was firing bullets at his feet the way he was trying to cover all the bases. Moron. Is Oprah on the phone now trying to get an exclusive? Is she going to hook him up with a shaman in Columbia, get some ayahuasca down his throat and do a 2 part special on CBS?

And another thing, is there anyone in the Hollywood elite willing to call out Will Smith publicly? All I am hearing are crickets.

I'm rather uncomfortable with Jada being blamed for Will's behaviour. I don't know much about her or their relationship but what they do in their own marriage is their choice. There may be problems but again that's their business and in my view something that should be kept private.
I don’t think many people are saying that Jada is responsible for Will’s behaviour in terms of actually egging him on that night. It’s clear that didn’t happen, and Will Smith is entirely responsible for Will Smith’s disgraceful behaviour. But it seems pretty clear that he changed his response to Chris’ joke based on her reaction to it. And it is notable that through the whole stomping and slapping and shouting she didn’t just lean over and tell him to calm the fuck down. Or even be with him during the break to talk some sense into him. Isn’t that what most decent spouses would do?

And Jada is responsible for Jada’s behaviour, which includes massive public over-sharing, on her own show and others, a bunch of highly personal stuff including the fact that she screwed his son’s friend in their house. He was totally emasculated on her Red Table show, it was extremely uncomfortable viewing and he came over as being absolutely walked all over in the worst way possible for a man, and that gives everyone an insight into what is happening in that relationship. If you put it all out there for fun and profit, then the entire world is going to watch and respond.

If that had been Rebel Wilson (she made offensive jokes at the Baftas) making that joke would Will Smith have gone and slapped her? Would he then have got cheers for winning an Oscar. Doubt it. Why was it ok to hit another black man. As a huge Will Smith fan I'm hugely disappointed in him.

…..I think Will is going to lose his Oscar.
He won’t lose his Oscar. The Academy won’t have the balls to take it from him. I just hope the next time each one of those celebs who applauded him start banging on about some anti violence message they’re reminded of their double standards.

Seems like Jim Carrey has stood up and said its wrong.
Good for him, he's absolutely right too. I can't believe the amount of people who initially defended Will. I think they probably thought the public would approve of what he did, and they were wrong. Spineless is the word for sure.

His wife is not dyeing, she is loosing her hair, but with the amount of money they have she can easily get implants.

I have seen far too many people saying he was defending his wife's honour, lets face it, his wife is fking everything and everyone she can get her hands on. Everyone in Hollywood knows it, he wanted to try and show that he was a man.

As the authorities are going to give him a pass, as are his fellow actors, I just hope the comedians rip him to shreds.

His whole family is a freakshow. The biggest freak is his son posting" that's how we do it."

I just hope when someone beats the crap out of him he can still share the same sentiment. Bloody gender fluid freak.

Interesting.
Will walks calmly up, and it looked like he was going to say something in Rocks ear, which is why I think Rock leaned in towards Smith. He didn't go up aggressively, which is what I saw when I first watched it. You wouldn't necessarily then think you were going to be smacked round the head at an Oscar ceremony by a guy you've know decades and is up for best actor. I think if you knew it was coming you'd flinch or put your hand up. To me the fact he didn't react shows how totally off guard he was when it happened.

fully agree.

in a world where jared leto is headlining a marvel movie, the male lead in west side story was confirmed as an abuser and rapist before the movie even came out, shia labeouf is still a member of the academy, casey affleck was still at oscar parties after the show etc etc etc will smith being the one who actually has a impact on his career is unfair.

i know people will likely disagree but it doesn’t fit the crime. it’s only that his moment of madness happened on a huge stage, whereas most other actors try and keep their actions (which are often far worse and over sustained lengths of time) under wraps. hollywood are starting to use him as a scapegoat they can publicly punish and it’s not a good look.
Without doubt Hollywood is a cesspit of immoral people doing shit loads of drugs and believing that their celebrity means that normal life rules don't apply to them. All sorts of depravity goes on behind closed doors that we can speculate about, but that isn't the point here and is irrelevant.

Will Smith lost his temper and assaulted Chris Rock in front of the whole world. Therefore we can see exactly what happened. We saw Smith acting on his anger and his lack of control.

I couldn't give a crap about his future projects, people will make their own decisions about whether or not they want to watch.

I hope he is stripped of the Oscar just to wipe that awful smug smile from his face but tbh it’s too little too late. The Academy are now just reacting to the disgust and hysteria of the public but they showed their true colours by not escorting him off the premises as soon as it happened, and shown the world they will not tolerate thuggery, period. Anything they do now is just lip service.

It absolutely fits with the crime. If you assaulted someone at a work's do you'd expect to lose your job and jeopardise potential future jobs.
I have to agree. Also there does appear to another story of Willy being threatening to another actor, Comedian Tommy Davidson. It's not like Will is slapping randoms, he is slapping/threatening his peers, on set or behind the scenes. Other comedians and actors are not going to want to work with that. Treat him the same as he'd be treated in a normal office environment is a good way to think of it and teach a little humility.

....through the power of her magical vagina.
:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: Is there a shop for them? I want one.

Red Table next weeeekkkk!!!! Wtf! They need to learn the word humility before healing the abusive twats.

Soooo, Chris Rocks brother Tony said this on stage last night I think. (He's a comedian too, who knew!)

'If I say anything tonight you have got a metherfecking problem with, you have one metherfecking option you can do about it, absolutely nothing. Cos if you think you gonna walk up on this stage, this ain't the metherfecking Oscars!

You wanna hit my metherfecking brother? Cos your bitch gave you the side eye?

There's ten of us rock brothers, you are gonna see all of us ....'

My opinion should be on the unpopular opinions thread but I genuinely feel sorry for him.

Every single person that knows will or has worked with him throughout his career, interviewed him etc has only ever had lovely things to say about him. I’m not condoning violence but this was not the will Smith we all know and his friends and co workers all know. It’s unbearable to watch as he looks mentally unwell and unhinged. There is no-one who will be regretting it more than him today. The best night of his life and moment he has worked his whole career for is now forever ruined and tainted. For that reason alone I don’t think it’s a publicity stunt. Why would he risk his whole career and reputation. They were genuine emotions brought on by feeling like he had to protect his wife when he saw she was furious.

There is no excuse for slapping someone but I believe this is a one off incident brought on by pure raw emotion and rage that is out of character for him. Even in his speech the way he was talking like some kind of prophet he doesn’t appear to be mentally well. I truly believe he feels embarrassed and backed into a corner at the publics view of him and his wife and family being so vocal and everyone knowing his wife fucks about. I believe it was like a pressure cooker and he acted and truly regrets it. I hope people can forgive him and he will seek help. I don’t think that one moment should define him and tarnish his impeccable and untarnished record up to this point in his life.

We are not talking about a serial offender here. More a man who snapped and will regret it for the rest of his life.
Janet Hubert would say different!
