I find it staggering that she lives in a house that cost over £1m in today's money, owns a buy-to-let, attended private school, pays her uni fees upfront - and still doesn't understand that this makes her EXTREMELY well off compared to the vast majority of people in the UK? She is so ignorant and uninterested in looking outside of her privileged bubble.

Chapter 2

It's the morning, and Erimentha talks about getting dressed in a way that gives me Patrick Batemen's morning routine vibes. She notes that she sleeps as straight as a 2B pencil, and lobbied her parents to get Nathan a double bed. I'm surprised that he's permitted to sleep in a bed, and not in a cage under the stairs. Erimentha also talks about how she and her mum would watch Nathan sleep at night. Other than the clear lack of boundaries this family has, they also admonish the poor boy for sleeping 'like a starfish'. (see: pencil)

She talks about the shopping trip and Nathan bounces around the bed store like a lovable stupid labrador that is about to go and live on a nice farm. Erimentha apologises to the shop assistants for his transgressions of behaving like a child.

Erimentha gets driven to school by her mum, who wants to go in with her, but is reminded by her plucky daughter that Nathan has a doctor's appointment - I can only assume to check he's a tissue match for Erimentha should she need an organ from him in later life.

The Head of School introduces herself and Erimentha judges her to be sensible and no-nonsense, based on her brown penny loafers. Damn girl, let the woman have a break! Mrs Stafford is only on a teacher's salary and I assume spends the bulk of her take home pay on her mortgage and tanqueray to cope with the drudgery of her life.

Anyway, they're in class with another one-dimensional teacher and we hit the infamous, 'What I did during the summer speech'. I'm running out of steam, just like her teachers. Erimentha likes to tell people facts, pre-empting everything with, "Did you know?..." She offers up an essay for this poor bastard to read and he politely accepts her offer, his resolve worn down to a nub.

Celebrating International Women's Day by dressing for a Victorian funeral. Clearly in a perpetual state of mourning for the end of her childhood.

What an unbelievably naïve video. Disclaimer: I don't want to invalidate anyone's experiences, but for goodness sakes.

Ruby, if we take Erimentha as the autobiography it almost certainly is, you were criticised. Perhaps harshly, but criticised. There is a very, very important distinction to be made between criticism and bullying.

I couldn't make it all the way through the video honestly, because it made me feel a bit sick. As an autistic girl who was relentlessly bullied by peers and adults throughout my childhood, I now likely face a lifetime of discrimination and bullying in employment, society and even medical treatment if I disclose a condition that literally defines how I exist in this world. For many minorities, the bullying isn't a 'childhood' experience that we have the privilege to grow from, because it remains consistent to some extent throughout our lives. To make an attempt to comment on that and parallel your albeit negative but unchangeably different experiences, is ignorant, embarrassing and naïve especially coming from a 21 year old. Frankly, you are not the universal victim you imagine.

Moreover, the notion that we can all 'control our own thoughts' in order to remain strong against bullying is the most uneducated, privileged, outdated take I have ever heard, and de-legitimises the severity of so much bullying that takes place. I don't think it even needs much comment to show how awful that take is.

Honestly lost a lot of respect for her now.

Go on, please - what do you think these emails contain?:unsure:
"Hello Professor Farfington, it's Ruby!

I just wanted to relay a most brief communique to tell you how much I loved the short story about My Little Pony you wrote when you were 13! 💫

Finding your teenage LiveJournal account took a lot of research, which I'm sure you'll agree is very important for any student and future author/academic/archaeologist/eyesight expert. 🙈

But your words really moved me - your prose conjured up images in my mind. Images that turned to thoughts and thoughts that turned to moving murials. Your story contained characters who spoke the most conversational dialogue and a story that began at one place and then ended in another, or possibly the same place. My life simply wasn't the same after reading it and it GENUINELY made me change who I am.

Also I ALWAYS watch My Little Pony with my NordVPN subscription (sign up with offer code RUBYNEEDSCA$H) because my impeccable taste is the same as yours! And My Little Pony contains my two favourite things: Animals (which I definitely never eat) and things which shouldn't talk but keep doing it anyway!

I had some follow-up questions pertaining to the module:

1. What is your favourite weather? Mine is mist, because the word mist made me realise how much I mist my childhood. 🙌

2. If you were a candlestick, what kind of candlestick would you be? 🔥

3. If you were writing a dissertation on Victorian letter-writing, what would it be like? (Please answer in 10,000 words or more with citations.)

Yours most respectually,

Ruby Granger (Anti-Bullying Enthusiast 👊❌and Vegan🥦)"

Despite being someone who endlessly idolises Hermione Granger, Ruby seems to have missed the part where Hermione was best friends with two sporty lads who she loved with her whole heart and balanced out her out and helped her relax every now and then.

Screenshots from her reel 😂 Looks like we’re going for trite as well as cringe today, double whammy!

Kind things she did today: made porridge for her dad and licked the spoon, left notes inside library books she was returning, and wrote herself a note to stick on her mirror, reminding herself that she has YOUTH and SPIRIT and that she’s beautiful.
how is "you dont look your age" a positive reminder wtf

Although I wish she'd addressed the backlash, I do think she came across much better in this video than she has in a while. It was nice to see her taking the initiative of applying for an internship and going to a proper university reading group (rather than doing one of her typical pointless extension projects on Plath instead). I hope she makes more videos like this.
The one thing that annoyed me about the internship (apart from the fact that her history with paid content for the uni may have helped her get it) is the way she phrased how she found out about it. "My seminar leaders sent it to me because they thought I'd be interested" - her seminar leaders probably sent a mass email about it to everyone in her department, why she have to make everything so ego-centric? I bet that she wasn't emailed specifically.

she got in! It's finally been confirmed.

Honestly, I would pay to see Jack and Jade's reactions and also looking forward to how they'll congratulate her.

WHY would she place the holocaust and bullying in the same sentence??
A genocide isn't comparable to people making fun of you because you acted stuck up and b*tchy in school!
I think all that cold weather is freezing her neurones, because I refuse to believe she's always been this stupid.

Very interesting that she’s also chosen to do it in the comments of a post that isn’t her most recent any more, I know it’s in the post where most concern was shown but it does mean that it’s very hard to find 🙄
And this, in her mind, will be the end of it. Just like her 24 hour break from Instagram that nobody noticed after she took a bunch of money from a charity, she believes she's solved the problem. Case closed. I was about to give her genuine credit and respect for that OOTD picture as it looked like a step towards change and the first time she's thought of her audience (even if it likely wasn't her idea.)

But this post of hers is disgusting. It's a "sorry you chose to be offended" non-apology in the least visible place she could find. She he will absolutely return to posting triggering content before the week's out and if anyone complains, she'll ignore it, or point to this "you're the problem, not me, but I'll take the high ground and wish you glad tidings, peasants!" unpology as what she believes is a Get Out of Jail Free card.

The irony of her having a 'Protect Each Other' sticker on that vaccine picture of herself when she's spent months encouraging ED habits and knowingly baiting people with an ED is astounding.

Here, Ruby, I fixed your apology. It took like 5 minutes. What's your excuse?

"There have been a lot of comments recently regarding my physical appearance following my recent weight loss, and I just wanted to acknowledge and address them.

Firstly, I want to thank each and every person who has reached out. These comments have invariably come from a place of care and concern, and that means the world. I appreciate every one of you, and your words of love and consideration mean the world.

My physical appearance and weight loss isn't something I feel comfortable talking about openly or publicly. I truly hope you can understand and respect that.

That being said, as an influencer in the public eye, I fully understand that I have a responsibility to ensure that the things I show of myself and my content do not impact others negatively. In this instance, and many others, I've let you down, and I can only apologise for that from the bottom of my heart.

While social media only shows a fraction of what someone eats and how they life their life, in the moment we see an image online, that's the whole picture. I've put images and videos of food and habits that are unhealthy and that have negatively impacted others and not given proper thought or consideration to the damage they could cause to someone who viewed them as normal or healthy. I've promoted unhealthy eating habits and posted content that would be triggering to anyone currently dealing with or recovering from an eating disorder. I posted these things without fully thinking how someone on a different journey might view these posts and be affected by them.

This wasn’t done intentionally, but ignorance, immaturity and thoughtlessness are no excuse. I can only apologise from the bottom of my heart to anyone I might have hurt with my posts. I am striving to learn and to do better as a person and as someone with a platform of influence. Influencers are fortunate to have a voice which is heard by a great many people, many of them young and impressionable, and those people deserve better.

I have a responsibility to people to help encourage positive habits or just to shield them from negative ideas and images. I can do better. I will do better. And I hope you continue with me as I try, and pledge to listen and put more thought into what I put into the world and how it affects others.

While I don't wish to discuss my personal weight loss and hope you understand my wish for privacy in that regard, there are a lot of people dealing with weight issues or eating disorders who do want help, or someone to talk to. Eating disorders are a dangeous, crippling disease that affect a great many people and those around them. If you or anyone you know are struggling with an eating disorder, please know that help is available, and that there are people you can talk to. (Include big list of NHS links and ED helplines and charities here.)

I have made a donation to the charity Beat, which offer an array of support options for victims of eating disorders and actively works to encourage healthy eating habits. I hope you join me in doing the same and supporting the vital work they do. Help is available if you need it. Be safe, and remember that you are loved."

(Post to main channel where people actually see it.)

How hard was that?

lmao from those notes it looks like she just made the entire thing about herself. I cannot begin to imagine how unimpressed everyone who watched that talk would have been with this, all her peers must think she's an absolute moron...
To put it in Harry Potter terms, she’s the Gilderoy Lockhart of Exeter 😅

Lol this really annoyed me too! Eng Lit Exeter student here, and can confirm that there was a mass email about the internship. They literally send these kinds of opportunities en masse to all students who study a relevant subject! Props on her for going for it of course, and I'm sure she did a lot of research beforehand and deserved to get it. However, I agree that it feels a bit sus that they pretty much gave her the option of picking which internship she'd prefer. Feels like she may have got special treatment in that sense because she's their ~poster child~

Now that someone pointed out that it looks like she has no lashes in this picture I can safely say it: everytime I see one of her recent pictures I imagine her getting a makeover done where someone puts some brown mascara on her and some blush. And a haircut. The lack of eyelashes (or her super light ones) makes her look pale and sick all the time. Or even some light brown eyeliner would make her look so much prettier (I know everyone is free to not wear makeup and this sounds kind of shallow but still). It's a shame because her skin already looks so nice, she doesn't even need foundation.

Seriously, does she never feel like doing her makeup or hair? Personally, it makes me feel so much better and it's so easy to do.
possibly an unpopular opinion but i don’t think she needs to wear makeup, regardless of how much it would “improve” her appearance and i really don’t care if she thinks she’s above women who do wear it. women don’t need to look pretty just to exist in the world etc etc. what i do think though is that she looks malnourished as fuck, weak and extremely exhausted. getting proper, professional help for her ED and general mental state will do her a world of good that mascara probably couldn’t. maybe getting rid of the tailcoat would help too…
