She is a shit singer
With a shit song
From a shit girl group
Who were put together on a shit tv show

None of them are talented or likeable, and they will all be totally controlled by their management - from their God awful videos, to whoever they collab with.

I am so glad I have never liked manufactured pop music - getting my knickers in a twist about a group called 'Little Mix' and an ugly bint called Jesy Nelson ffs...
I mean you've taken the effort to come into a thread about song and video you hate, from a genre you hate, by a person you hate, who used to be in a band you hate, from a show you hate. Seems to me, your knickers are indeed fairly strongly in a twist if at no point in that chain did you not stop and think, what a fucking waste of my time?:ROFLMAO:

I don't recall Xtina ever receiving such backlash after her "Can't hold us down" video though. That was a quite obvious black fishing...

View attachment 801826
There was backlash - my friends and I were teens dissecting this and whether we felt honoured to see someone repping this tone/this aesthetic or annoyed that a white woman was being fawned over for this whilst we got made fun of for our style and skin tones. The white girls we knew didn't have the same conversations about it and why would they? They have no understanding of it. This was before twitter when they had no chance to stumble across black twitter dissecting this stuff.

The difference between Xtinas music video and 2021 is that now Buzzfeed and every journo out there LOVES to use race as part of their hottakes, so now white people hear about it all the time; much to their annoyance. But trust me, these critiques span decades if not longer in our communities. It's upsetting that hearing these critiques prompts mainly white people to tell us to shut up tbh....
Also, it's not black twitters fault that the daily mail or buzzfeed take their comments on twitter to each other and make them into sensationalist headlines e.g. PEOPLE CALL JESY RACIST FOR NEW MUSIC VIDEO. Like wtf? That's not what people are doing? They're just side eyeing a white girl getting loved on for cosplaying black culture, a story as old as time for the poc communities tbh. It's not like we're fucking rioting over it? If anything it's led to memes that you've been enjoying? So I dont get the need to be defensive and butthurt tbh. I will never get over how fragile some people are about criticism like this. So hearing white people say PC gone mad and people are too sensitive feels hilarious considering we aren't asking for this coverage or for your opinions, we just want a space to critique same as anyone else does.

Not a follower of the band or Jesy and definitely not that Minaj.
Genuine question and am hear to understand but what is wrong with Jessy having tans/lips/curly hair/rapping?
Black women relax their hair/wigs/blonde/sing non rap songs.

Japanese/Korean bleach their hair blond, wear light colour contact lenses and sing in English
White women wearing Indian outfits and henna etc.

Surely it's freedom to dress, to sing whatever, so much is mix and match nowadays, even down to fusion food!
Do you ever think those black girls are white????????
No. Next question please

jesy is very vocal about liking all things black- the music, the culture or whatever.. fine appreciate it, but where the fuck was her voice during the whole BLM movement after the the george incident? Considering she was in the band, where was her support for her ‘sister’ Leiganne and her document!?

She can’t pick and choose when she wants to ‘appreciate’ black culture.

for the ones who are on the fence about her blackfishing- take a look at lipstick alley (a forum for black women, mainly from USA) most of them thought she was mixed and are pissed as hell about the blackfishing.

She sat down in the stylists chair and said 'Give me the Jade special please, with a dash of Leigh-Anne, the more racially ambiguous the better! MORE LIP FILLER, MORE!'

She just seems to be a really really troubled and messed up person and really what she needs is to just step right back for a few years, have some good therapy and figure out who the fuck she is as a person and who she wants to be.

She cannot continue to blame the other band members for her own insecurities - what did she want them to do? All put on a few pounds to make her feel better? The way she talks about it it’s like she holds them personally responsible for her own issues, just by virtue of the fact that she didn’t feel as pretty or thin as them. That is HER issue to deal with. Commenting on a picture of Perrie with ‘f*#k off you skinny bitch’ I mean WTAF?! She immediately tried to laugh it off as ‘Bantz’ but. I, sorry, you let your real self show there for a second and it wasn’t at all appealing.

I found it very revealing when she said in an interview that she would have preferred being the only girl in a band of boys - so all the attention would have been on her, she would have been the undisputed queen bee. But she was put in a band with three other girls and has then spent the next 9 years having a f*****g tantrum about it!

All her hate and resentment is for herself, but she can’t accept that so she turns it onto other people instead, it’s the bands fault because they are too pretty and too thin and make her feel bad etc. NO Jesy - YOU need to find your OWN worth in yourself, and not hate on others purely for existing. How is that any different from the trolls calling you fat?

Add to that her complete narcissistic traits of it always having to be about her - SHE was the one who had MH issues, which apparently meant that NO-ONE ELSE in the band was allowed to voice anything they may have been struggling with. Nope, they just have to suffer in silence, squash it down, because NO-ONE can suffer as much as Jesy, and if they claim to well they just ‘don’t understand’ how awful it has been for her. Does she seriously think the others in the band haven’t been through their own stuff? Does she choose not to care or is she so self-obsessed that she genuinely doesn’t notice or spare a thought for how others are feeling?

Newsflash for you Jesy - MILLIONS of people around the world suffer from poor mental health - they ALL matter, your problems are NOT more important than someone else’s and to disregard and ignore and minimise other people’s suffering? Well that just shows just what kind of person you really are.

I don’t think her new single is that great but I can’t agree with this whole black fishing thing. You can’t win these days, if she said she doesn’t like black culture, rnb music etc she would be called racist, when she does say it she’s accused of black fishing. People talking about her tan? I mean, is there a tan limit that white people now can’t cross? Feels like this is the latest buzzword that everyone wants to get hysterical about and it’s getting really boring.
You're entitled to your opinion. I just find it sad and sort of gaslighty when people call these kinds of criticisms 'hysterical' and 'boring' - sort of telling people that they're not allowed to feel annoyed that a white person is getting praise and profiting from something that black people get shit on for (e.g. talking about the hood, gold teeth, black women's style etc - ppl have always made fun of these things and looked down on them). It'd be like being white and having red hair and being teased for it all your life and then someone blonde going red and being fawning over it - as a redhead, you might find that annoying and upsetting given your own history of bullying and trauma around that and you're ENTITLED TO THOSE FEELINGS, and it's HELPFUL TO HAVE THOSE FEELINGS VALIDATED. It's not 'PC gone mad' to acknowledge double standards in society and the fact some people are so sensitive about acknowledging this stuff says it all about who the real snowflakes are lol. Maybe people in minorities have had enough of being told to shut up about their traumas and that's why it's being talked about so much now? Unless you're part of a black community, or poc, you might be unaware that poc have talked about this shit for DECADES but it's only now entering the popular vernacular. These aren't buzzwords, this is reality.
No two black people will have the same opinion and some black people might even agree with your take which again is their opinion but I'd hope you could try to be open-minded enough to see why some might levy this kind of criticism towards Jesy.
This kind of shit happens to lots of communities - e.g. poor white people being called chavs for wearing tracksuits but then all of a sudden loungewear becomes a bouji thing that rich people are adopting. People who grew up being called chavs are allowed to be miffed at that double standard.
Again, you're entitled to your opinion cos I know people who agree with you and I can see why but a little empathy here costs nothing - and might even help make the world a better place sometimes.
Of course, I also have had this conversation with plenty of people who've laughed in my face and said anyone who feels like that is too sensitive and needs to grow up so there's a chance I've wasted my emotional energy posting this reply lol

Recap:
Jesy Nelson Mandela Dolezal is a problematic woman- with problematic issues.
10 years she spent as 1/4 of the worlds most successful girl band, only to throw that away in the name of I dunno? Liking guys with gold teeth?

She’s played the mental health card far too long, yes ppl trolled her for being fat back in the day, but she’s changed that to allay her insecurities. Leigh Anne Pinnock however, her band mate and loyal sister, has been mercilessly abused for being black, and that’s something she can’t change.

Our favourite biracial princess releases a video with America’s most famous moron; Nicki minaj, u know, the one who mistook Gonorrhoea for a covid vax side affect, the convicted rapists wife and loyal sister to her Pedalo brother….great choices there Jess!! 👍🏽 What a way to launch your solo career! By throwing ur mates under a bus! and Pdiddy and I dunno about u but he hasn’t been relevant since he dated Jlo?

the song is shit, romanticising ‘bad boys’ who are black men in her video, coz u know, she hasn’t been reading the news lately about how being automatically classed as a ‘bad boy’ black man means a bullet through ur head from the cops in most places

LA send a DM to local gobshite NoHun with a throwaway comment about instead of fetishising black men and enabling serial black fisher Jesy he do a video about blackfishing instead
Ofc gobshite McGee saw this as an opportunity to launch himself into the spotlight and leaked these DMs
Leading to Crackhead Minaj and Jesy Mandela doing a live on insta bullying Leigh about bullying Jesy….also Jesy saying she never spray tans she’s spent 3 weeks in Antigua hence her ethnic hue (Romford must be next door to the sun then) and her hair is naturally curly and definitely not curly weaves imitating an Afro

The rest is history

as you were

I don't agree with Jesys actions at all but it is interesting that when a black women attempts to look white she is a poor unfortunate women who needs mental support and a white woman wanting to look darker is a racist who is vile and vindictive? Double standards much?
Fgs. Educate yourself and stop being wilfully ignorant.

"So does this mean white people can't tan, then?" - No Karen, it does not. No-one thinks that it's bad to go to Beni for a week and come back with a tan. Please. HOWEVER if you tan + fake tan / makeup AND put on a big black curly wig, dress in a stupidly stereotypical 'hood' style (including surrounding yourself with 'gangster' dancers in grills), to the point where people who did not know you were white, assume you are mixed, THIS is the problem. Because nothing in that music video addresses the fact that she is a white woman from Romford and allows the assumption she is a mixed artist. She takes the support of this culture, she appropriates the whole culture, but she has NEVER faced the hardships or prejudices that black and mixed artists have had to overcome to even be allowed HALF of the platform she has.

I think what was so jarring about the way Jesy left was in her documentary she kept hammering home the point that she was so much happier before entering the music industry. And how if she could she’d turn the clock back to when she was a barmaid etc. So when she left LM there was a lot of sympathy and understanding that she wanted to leave this toxic industry behind. She even had interesting things to say about how stupid and image obsessed the whole thing is and how music shouldn’t have to be tied to how you look when you’re a female artist . So for her to come back with such vapid silly meaningless music and an even more shallow overly sexualised dolled up look is so weird. If she’d taken atleast a year out (as lockdown was supposedly the happiest she’d been in years) and came back with a more natural stripped back image and made some soulful rnb music with good meaningful lyrics people would not be reacting the way they are now.

Potential thread suggestion;
Jesy Nelson Mandela 3# Not too concerned about a black life, unless of course it's a rapist's wife.

If poor mental health is your reason for leaving a band - I am still stumped how going out on your own is going to help that. I think that's basically the back story. The girls all agreed Jesy needed to protect herself and leave, go out of the spotlight and then Jesy went solo and the girls were like huh?
That is so much more to this.

Get a bloody clue people it isn't about the tan or having curly hair as loads of people use fake tan have curly hair. its about the fact she's ACTING like shes mixed race/black. Wearing grills, the way she dresses and the way she sings tbh Im surprised she not gone the whole hog and had braids in her hair.

I’m sorry but this can’t be the same girl who made a WHOLE ASS DOCUMENTARY on trolling and being vile to people on the internet. But yet she has just allowed nicki to say all of that about her ex band mate and friend of 10 years, who is also a new mother to twins and is probably extremely overwhelmed?! So much for #BeKind 🙄
