long time lurker 👋👋👋 just felt like chipping in cos ive been mulling it over...

i suspect the "doing ads" makes her feel herself/ a well version of her self.
Gives her a cause/ reason to do something... {like any job or"role" might when you're at crises point..} plus the fact its social media means it all feeds into an emphasised version of being "the best you".. "presentee-ism/ showing up" kind of thing.

I wouldn't do it but insta isn't my job. But agree it all feels a bit dark when you're the audience... but doesn't allllll social media feel kind of weird when you're on the other side?

no doubt behind closed doors things are not the same:(

but honestly, if it makes her feel good at a dark time that's kind of fine. i couldn't say what i would do {but i do work in advertising and it would NOT be work lol}
Tbh it’s also a control thing. There is very little she can control with the disease. My husband was like that too with little things that weren’t important in the scheme of things but it made him feel he was in charge and control of an aspect of his life. It’s hard to explain unless you have experienced it. Though I understand people pov as it’s social media related and very public. I had forgotten that part of the disease as my husband died 14 years ago and the children were 5 & 10. It’s difficult at any age and my heart goes out to all going through it atm xxx

He a banker, they are very wealthy. I do admire her in lots of ways, it’s just the whole ‘cancer as a career ‘ I find a bit odd and maybe hard for others really struggling. I find it really off putting. I loved Rachel Bland but find Deborah hard to take.
I found the podcast (you, me and the big C) right at the beginning of my journey with cancer and at that time it was just what I needed. Sadly I can no longer tolerate Deborah )or Lauren for that matter). We all tread our path as we see best and I would not begrudge anyone health, wealth, love and happiness but the constant ads and affiliated links amount to making money from those who are not given this plethora of products for free and are likely not as financially well set. In addition to this I don't think either of them have thoughtfully or accurately represented what living through the pandemic has meant for those currently being treated for, or in recovery from, cancer and ultimately, for me, thats a real shame as they have a great platform to do so.

I wish them, and everyone struggling with serious illness and its aftershocks, nothing but kindness but can still also be saddened and annoyed by the monetisation of that disease.
Cancer careerists are not something I ever thought would be a thing. ☹

I think what is most telling is that after 5 years(?) of going through this, she only now mentions feeling like she was (atleast at the start) just a stage 4 cancer patient who is terminal anyway and also that they had no space for her and were just leaving her to die.

As if this isn’t exactly the case of many if not most people in her position who actually, are left to die.

She is still so out of touch with reality, signing off about how good the NHS is, despite spending half the time talking about her private surgeon on speed dial. I really don’t think she is capable of being transparent about the disparity at this point, it’s almost like she’s so far past privileged she physically cannot identify it no matter how hard she may or may not try.

That aside, I really do fucking feel for her, what she has been through is truly barbaric and no one deserves it, privileged or not.

Social Media creates a whole sense of entitlement doesn't it (I'm not talking just about Deborah here) but this whole sense of because I post no one can challenge.

I ABSOLUTELY hate the term troll. Yes there are bullies out there, and messaging someone directly with personal insults should never ever be allowed.

But when you disagree with what someone is presenting or you call them out you are labelled a troll.

Easy to throw the term around....but honestly as much as I love social media this whole troll thing drives me mad.

Loads of us on here through are chats agree and disagree with each other. Just like real life. Like I do with my friends and family and colleagues.

Where else can you chat about social media but here. You can't on an IG feed as it will be deleted.

I am all for people wearing what they like. If Deborah wants to wear a mini skirt why not (In fact one of my fave pics of her where she looked so happy is from holiday last year where she is wearing a short cream dress) but the seductively lying back on a seat with thigh high boots isn't a stylish look. It isn't proving anything. It isn't about cancer. And the impact on her children and husband who see her posting this online goes beyond taking a stance.

I could magine my kids reaction if I posted a pic like that!

**As a fellow human I would say to Deborah you have limited energy....use it wisely. Use it for spending quality time with those around you and not strangers in the Internet. We don't matter. Your family and friends do.**

Had to come and comment on Monique, how bloody awful her hospital decided🤯 NOT to tell her of her new tumour because there was nothing that could be done about it, but now, after other Oncologists have looked at it, it can have treatment!? Why? Id be asking what’s changed and how dare they deem to think they can choose not to tell me things about my body!! Disgusting. As for BB commenting, well Deborah of course you had this done, you are private!! And privileged, why are you not shouting about this? ( in the past, not now, I get she’s very I’ll) When an ambulance doesnt arrive for you you’re straight on it. 🤬

Monique's post has just brought me to tears, that poor sweet person, she is suffering so much and it's heartbreaking to watch.
The suffering is the most inhumane thing. I really hope she manages to find a combination of drugs to ease her symptoms. I can’t imagine feeling nauseous and vomiting all day every day like Monique seems to. It’s no quality of life at all.

Advertising gym wear when she’s never going to set foot in a gym again…

advertising anti ageing cream when she’s probably not going to live another year…

It’s fucked up.

Monique’s situation is beyond comprehension. I think about her a lot especially if I’m awake at night. Poor poor girl.

Cheeky cow! Clearly she hasn’t got any tat to peddle or for sure she’d be posting constantly
"I'm spending time with my family maybe you should do the same"
Is exactly the response everyone should send her next time she is jumping around, wiggling, giggling, shaking her affiliate link money jar and showing us her children's teeth.

BB is in there commenting on Monique's post and said "it's good your team are on it" uhm, did you not read what Monique wrote? Her team aren't on it, her family friend spotted this.

But bless Monique. Her sweet determination and quiet strength is so inspiring.

Exactly though - it's only how she comes across in her fragile, cancer ridden way. For all we know she could have been a right cow before her diagnosis. Not that it matters in the slightest - no one deserves to have cancer and go through such horrific pain. I just find the contrast really so startling that just because Deborah doesn't lie in her bed and croak her way through some stories she isn't a lovely, kind-hearted person. She may well be.
What I was getting at is the level of perceived *sympathy* the two get is very different, and it is always compared with their personalities.
I find your take gross tbh. Implying she’s only a nice person because she’s ‘fragile’. Sick or not, you can still see clear elements of who people are from how they act. Monique is always so grateful and thoughtful despite everything she’s been through. Deborah is an entitled madam. That has nothing to do with expecting her to lie in a sick bed, it’s just how she behaves in most given situations. It’s only natural people are going to gravitate toward Monique compared to Deborah if they also see it that way. Doesn’t mean we have less sympathy, everyone here has always been very clear on the fact they both are going through something unimaginable and are equally deserving for compassion on that front.

Put it this way, Monique will be posting about how she’s having to be readmitted to some pokey, shared hospital ward because her home team have failed her. Yet she’ll s toll be so understanding. Meanwhile Deborah will be in her private room, advertising some £500 face cream. Figures people have less immediate sympathy.

I think this is unfair. Noone thinks Monique is a good person just because she's weak and fragile. What a strange thing to suggest. It's because she genuinely comes across as a lovely, kind-hearted, down to earth woman. Deborah for most, does not. That doesn't mean she's a 'bad' person, but she comes across quite self-serving and certainly not very relatable, hence the comparisons. That has absolutely nothing to do with how ill they are or aren't. You don't have to like someone or give false compliments just because they are sick. In fact I think it would be more insulting to do so.
I agree with you. Having compassion for both women but feeling more connected to Monique is not 'disgusting'. In addition I guess personally I feel more empathy for Monique as she literally hasn't had time to live. Being diagnosed at 21, hysterectomy so very young and in so much pain in the, at times, failing NHS. How could I not?

I know nobody here is saying it’s solely down to her will to live that she’s still here and still smiling, because it really isn’t. It’s easier to stay positive when you have money to spend on private doctors who will continue to treat you when NHS Doctors wouldn’t. All of the people who have lost their lives to cancer before wanted to live just as much as Deborah, and that takes us back to the NHS/private situation.
Oh there’s absolutely no doubt about the gulf between NHS care and private care.
On top of that, there’s the privilege that’s afforded to private patients too - silly things like allowing flowers in the room, when on NHS wards - at least the ones I’ve visited - there are actually signs near the entrance stating that flowers are not allowed.
As I said, it’s a silly thing, and I don’t begrudge BB the lovely flowers she received; they seem to have genuinely lifted her spirits.
But paying for care seems to mean you are treated like a human being rather than a statistic and this is beyond wrong - all patients should be treated with kindness and respect and their mental well-being should be as important as the physical.
I’m very aware that I’m becoming a bore on the subject, and it isn’t BB’s fault that she’s on the better end of the scale, but I actually think that the difference in care is quite scandalous.

It's almost like it's some sort of game.. (and I realise cancer IS NOT that) but her approach is very child like and oops consultant who is paid to keep me alive come find me outside....er like they have time for that.
It's very much her approach I feel.
We saw her spit the dummy when - like everyone else - she couldn't have visitors and she didn't stop til she got what she wanted.
She wanted to sit outside in the sun so she did - screw everyone else again!

She is a selfish, blinkered, self-serving madam and I think perhaps she always has been.
I have every empathy with her health situation (I too am in the very same boat) but having cancer doesn't give you a free pass to be an absolute ****

International women's day, (also Debbie you're celebrating one WOMAN stop writing women when referring to a singular). So she chooses to bang on about her being beautiful and sexy. I agree, Kate Ferdinand is both of these, but on international women's day would it not have been more appropriate to recognise her for something other than looks. Shes a shallow piece of shit our Debbie isn't she?
Yeah like maybe any or all of the many female nurses/doctors/oncologists/support staff/scientists etc keeping her alive?! No? No - let’s just “celebrate” some random airhead from TOWIE who had done precisely fuck all with her life aside from shagging Rio Ferdinand.

And don’t forget the NHS isn’t technically free as we all pay for it through taxes. So by that logic we should be able to utilise it in a timely manner when sick. Yes maybe pay for a private consultation initially if you can afford this to get into the system, but there on all care if needed should be given free by the NHS as it is needed. If you choose to then use private insurance or private payment top up that should be an option but NOT a requirement to get a good quality and essential treatment. Unfortunately as in previous discussions this country has a huge post code lottery for all types of care, if you are unlucky to be at a hospital that falls into this then you do lose out as experts etc won’t be working there and those who are may not know who to refer to for the more specialist care. It’s just another example of how in this country the divide between poverty and wealth is at an all time high. When I say poverty I’m not even talking unemployed it’s those who work in public sector- teachers etc who need to use food banks to live. This country is falling apart!!
Exactly it’s not free! We pay taxes! I’m so over this country. It’s a disgrace. I’m jumping through hoops for a child that’s at breaking point with ocd and undiagnosed autism or adhd. He’s 15 this year and I’m now looking to take a loan to go private. Hes been broken as I’d describe him since he was 18 months. I’m a qualified nurse nurse and raised 5 amazing kids who are adults now. The nhs is ruined. I watched my step mam fight breast cancer and win 17 years ago then she got Covid in March 2020 , she was fit healthy and well and they messed her around 5 days at home saying water infection. My dad got an ambulance it took 3 hours and she had brain damage at hospital as her oxygen was so low. She died a few days later after a stroke but Covid was the death reason. She’d worked 42 years for the council and was failed months after retiring. Her first pension payment came through 3 weeks after she died. I hate this county and BB is a privileged pain in the arse. No one wants anyone to die but she’s just beyond lucky. Money talks. She can shove her sweaty Betty up her arse.

Christ almighty. I don't even have the words. It's obvious to me they must have discussed it and decided not to do it because she's end of life & the money & resources it would cost etc wouldn't be deemed 'worth it'. Abhorrent. Thank God she has got second opinions. She is such a beautiful soul she deserves every chance possible

I don’t know what it is, but I seem to be drawn to BB’s posts and this thread when I’m at my lowest in terms of grieving and questioning what I could have done better.
So I’m probably repeating myself, for which I apologise.
But I’ve read the latest post about CR UK and it’s massive achievements and about how wonderful the team looking after her are.
And - I stress again - that while I genuinely, honestly hope she keeps going as long as possible, I wonder why my Dad didn’t have a brilliant team, and an oncologist who kept in touch, and looked for new options when the ONE offered failed. Dad saw him twice in total.
Please don’t shoot me down for this, but cancer research have been running ads and fundraising campaigns for as long as I can remember but for the majority of people it doesn’t really feel like treatment is that much further forward, and for many new treatment options, it seems you have to know how to fight for trials and new treatments and be confident enough to stand your ground, and educated enough to know what to ask for.
Or else be able to self fund treatment.
I hope Deborah gets on the new trial. It seems her liver count is improving so maybe she will.
But why doesn’t everyone know about these trials?
Maybe - hopefully - this is one of the issues she may help to raise at this event she’s going to be hosting; the fact that not everyone has all the options laid out for them, or available to them.
Sorry for the rambling post. And sorry if I’m being a bore.
She’s not well, clearly, and deep down she must be terrified.
I do wish her the best, as I wish the very best for everyone on here that’s dealing with, or has lost a loved one to this awful disease x

Taking cancer out of the equation. How does she come across?

She comes across as a pushy, arrogant, grabby twat.

So what we have is a pushy, arrogant, grabby twat with cancer. The cancer doesn’t take away any of her bad qualities.

So humble, kind, giving people with cancer are a bit perplexed as to why she has become the face of cancer.
