I definitely think she has depression too. The problem is she refuses to get help and keeps digging herself into a bigger hole. If she genuinely had a good therapist then her and Alfie wouldn't be regressing backwards so much. She also decided to scale back her work load considerably so now she has even more free time which leads to her wallowing in self-pity even more. I think also the fact Alfie has no real plans to propose is sinking in HARD. If it doesn't happen by her 30th then it won't happen anytime soon. She gets very quiet whenever she has to attend a wedding. Maybe some of that is due to the friend wanting some privacy and not having it all over sm but I think more so it's out of jealousy too. It has to be hard to see everyone moving on and taking their relationship to the next step while Alfie plays with his toys all day and pretends to call it work.

I would love her bank account so I could do more traveling and work less but I don't envy her current predicament. Her career is stalled (by her own making), her relationship is stalled (by Alfie), and she's not very clever (due to the idiots she constantly hangs out with). She likes to joke she's a granny but even senior citizens have a more active and fulfilling life than Zoe on any given day and considering many of them lived through several war times... I don't have any sympathy especially when she's seeking it on IG of all places. Woah is me. I'm a millionaire with no considerable debt and I'm stuck in bed!!! *pretend cough* Yes, such a hard life that Zoe lives...

My nan is not far off 90 and she goes out dancing every Saturday night with her friends til past midnight! Zoe lives like a mummified corpse

I think she is on a lot of very strong anti anxiety medicine as she had one or two panic attacks once upon a time. My mother is on that medication and it knocks you TF out-even if you're used to them. It's not uncommon for my mother to sleep all afternoon as well as have an early night, but hey bonus, she's not having debilitating panic attacks in the supermarket!

I mean, I hope so. No one can be that lazy, and have so little interest in life, without being on hardcore medication, surely?

I do feel a bit sorry for her. Shes had such a decline in popularity, everyone thinks she's an arsehole after the calendar (which was a silly move), and she gave up everything for months. I can't stick her with extensions because I think she's trying to hold on to her younger days when people cared and reminds me of mutton dressed as lamb which sounds horrible to admit but she looks so much older than she is. Mine and her birthdays are a few months apart, we are both 29, it makes me cringe SO much when I watch her doing certain things that young kids do and even the manipulative high baby voice she uses. She might want kids but she isn't capable to look after them yet, and Alfie definitely is a full grown man child. I do wish her success but she's her own enemy! I respect Louise in a way because she actually acts her age and talks about real issues instead of avoiding them as to not offend anyone. Say fuck and shit a few times and tell your shitty subscribers to piss off if they're bothering you instead of this "i love you all" rubbish. People who are too nice are almost always suspicious

I've been a lurker here for sometime and have stopped watching Zoella because she didn't age with her audience (IMO) she stayed young. I would have so much respect for her if she dumped her BF and went and decided to have a kid on her own. Via adoption or sperm donor.

So many of the first generation of Gleam 'talent' seem to be trapped in gilded cages of their own making. And so many of them appear incapable of breaking free.

I know the influencer industry takes its toll but the early vloggers like Zoe, Louise, Tanya, the Sacconejolys, all seem to have pre-existing inadequacies and personality problems.

It's as if they weren't capable of doing any other job except staying at home and talking to themselves through a camera, but because they got in at the right time when vlogging was starting out they reaped the benefits without having the talent to justify it. Now youtube is a proper career you get people actually treating it like a job and not just an easy escape from adult responsibility.

Most of the early Gleamers should never have been encouraged to believe their own hype, it's befuddled their minds.

They're like child actors, in the sense that many have never grown up properly and loads of issues. But Dom keeps them around because somehow they still bring in money. Is there a thread about Dom on here? I always got creepy vibes from him.

I do feel sorry for her too. I mean it's sad to watch how her life is so boring and how incapable she is to do things alone. I'm also not a heartless person at all. I know this is a bit OT but I have anxiety and depression so I kind of know what it is like. I'm on meds for them and they have helped me so much. I also go to the therapist. Like face to face therapist. That doesn't stop me from doing things. I still live my life and enjoy it. In that note I find that she uses her anxiety as a reason to not to do things and that's actually not a way to get rid of the stigma that mental health problems have like she claims that she tries to do. It's actually making it worse. It annoys the heck out of me.

But.. At the same time I pity her. I think it's sad how her life has become and I can't believe that few years ago I used to think that her life was goals. It couldn't be further from it. I don't want to waste my life basically doing nothing. I want to live and she should too but It seems like she doesn't see how she's just slowly destroying herself with that immature man child. I would have dumped him years ago If I was her.

Agree with you, I had swine flu 2 years ago and it still haunts me to this day, and any other time I had a bad cold/flu or whatever illness nothing was cosy about it, watching movies just isn't the same when you feel ill. These youtubers have no idea what being ill really means (well most of them, for others it's just an excuse to be lazy or play the sympathy card).

Oh my god. I've had the swine flu too and It was definitely one of the worst illnesses I've ever had. I couldn't move, I couldn't do anything but to just lay in my bed, in the dark and sleep. It was all I could do. I didn't even think about watching TV or anything. It was the worst.

So yeah.. Zoe playing the "lurgy" card while laying in bed watching TV is just.. Nope. She isn't ill. Otherwise she wouldn't be complaining about it on social media and trying to get sympathy.

I don’t get why she calls herself the co-founder for this app. Did she put in seed money for the app development? Was she actually part of the creation process (concept to launch)? Did she help engineer the app into reality by coding? Hun, picking out names or which filters should be in a pack does not make you a co-founder. If anything she’s just the face like with her Zoella beauty junk. But sure anything to add more titles to make you feel self-important. Right up there with girl boss...

Instead of pushing cheap rubbish for eight year olds, she could have released a grown up skincare line with an affordable price point, like Revolution Beauty. But she's all about the cheap merch she can hawk to the kiddies (oh but they're all 18+ dontcha know! ) .

If I had her money, I'd be investing in start ups or buying a restaurant, instead of rotting away like Mrs Haversham in my big empty house. She has no ambition or vision.

This is the last we heard about her blog relaunch. Still on hiatus with an unforeseeable launch date. It must be hard to find ghostwriters for her sinking ship.
