Her lifestyle isnt a healthy, she undereats on purpose, exercises a million times a day like irs oxygen. Her whole brand is trash, its not about fitness but aestethics, she never took her health serious when her periods stopped, no offence but I dont feel sorry for her, i feel sorry for the young girls who copy her thinking this is it

This was a car crash waiting to happen, none if ehay these fitness influencers do is healthy, even hazel wallace who exercises the same way, its all bull, so what do they expect?

Aah… Where do I even begin? I never wish bad on anyone, but I have noticed on a few occasions how smug Zanna has been about mental health, in the way of “oh that has never affected me”. As if she’s above mental health issues and only has little “wobbles”.

And now, when she actually is dealing with a mental health crisis (not to mention that her lifestyle probably is the main reason for it), she doesn’t even do it justice to explain what the illness is… She just brushes over it, as if it’s something insignificant (or even embarassing?) yet it’s “floored” her for two weeks. She’s also called it a “curveball”, but what is it really?! As if actually naming the illness would make her weak or less than?! …but she makes sure to emphasise the seriousness of it…

It takes enormous strength to talk about these issues and I wish she would. She has such a huge platform, she’s all about “lifestyle” - so why not really talk about it? But here she is looking top notch in her Surrey mansion with full make-up and curls… and I just cannot relate!

[Writing this as I’m dealing with health issues and depression myself, and I’m months into this battle and it just doesn’t sit right with me how she’s addressing her issues.]

That video is the least manic I’ve seen her in a really long time, I don’t really care what time she posts it or whatever as it pales in significance against a backdrop of a mental health crisis. I also don’t care that she’s not said what specifically it is, it could be an amalgamation of things probably.

Hopefully she’s on the long road to recovery. I recently started EMDR therapy and whilst it’s incredibly expensive and really hard work, it is changing my life in a way I never thought was possible.

If anything, at least she took time off posting, that alone is probably a huge step for her. We know Zanna must have a lot of internalised ableism (obsessively exercising, waking up early, her diet, focusing far too much on age, everything turned into content) and she engages with toxic positivity/productivity - I don’t think she was ever going to be open and honest and handle it sensitively when there is likely stigma & shame in her close circles (and from herself) and she probably feels embarrassed/weak - which is awful and she absolutely shouldn’t feel that way.

When I had my first breakdown I felt like such a failure because I grew up in a family where everyone said ‘just keep going and focus on the positives!’ in response to everything. It doesn’t actually solve any of the problems and then one day I just couldn’t carry on anymore and I felt like I’d been lied to my whole life when basic well-being advice like have a hot bath didn’t work. I’ve always been fairly open minded and I still struggled with shame (and did a lot of work over the last decade to unlearn it) so Christ knows how Zanna feels about it when she’s been producing 2014 fitspo content for the past 8 years.

I hope she’s getting the help she needs and is recovering. I really wouldn’t be surprised if she focuses on toxic positivity mental health content in the future and turns it into another ‘journey’ though.

edit: just watched the video and she’s acknowledged it’s not a linear journey, bloody hell! I reckon this is one of the first times she’s felt not in control and maybe she will actually make some positive progress?! I winced at her using ‘crippling’ though ffs there are other words that don’t have such ableist connotations 🥲

sending you lots of love ❤

In fairness, she must have felt really awful to take a month offline
Yes, but… she wasn’t fully offline, though, was she? She kept commenting and liking posts. So in reality she was still consuming social media content… Which is the main thing people normally avoid when doing social media detoxes, no?

Mental health disorder? If it was depression wouldn’t she just say so? Or does it sound more legit or something
I thought possibly bipolar as she’s always been a bit up and down and slightly manic on occasions thinking back over the years I’ve followed her, but I’m not sure she’d get diagnosis that quickly? In the video It’s fairly obvious that she’s medicated from the way she speaks. It can take a good few weeks for the meds to kick in or find the right dosage. Really a month is too soon to come back online after something like this, but I suppose she’s had no choice given the loss of income etc.

I do feel that everyone has to have a balance of light and dark in their lives - just look at all the wealthy successful celebrities who go through awful things sometimes too. Zanna has been so smug and ultra privileged for many years and never seems to show any compassion for anyone else. If she’s had some sort of mental break down then I wish her well as I wouldn’t wish something like that on my worst enemy but I hope this will be a humbling experience for her to stop constantly boasting about what an enchanted life she lives

Disturbing to me how she’s referred to a walk around Frensham pond as a “hike”
Same ol’ Zanna. Although it feel for her with regards to whatever mental health crisis she’s going through and hope she gets the help she needs I don’t think her on line personna will change that much. I was hooding there would be an element of self reflection and a realisation of the smoke and mirrors that social media really is. I’m not so sure Still seems a bit smug.

I think a big dose of perspective will take some time to permeate, I’m hoping! When your world’s been rocked it can take some time to settle back down

I'm sorry but the fact that she referred to a mental health issue as a "curveball" is just weird. A curveball is by definition something that is unexpected and disruptive. And while, yes, mental health issues are disruptive unless she had an actual schizophrenia or borderline disorder episode that she had never ever had before, they're usually not surprising or unexpected. Especially in her case, she had previously talked about stress and burnout and anxiety so I struggle to understand how a mental health issue for her would be a "curveball" .

Also did not love how she spoke about all the progress she'd made in just one month. Sure, she also said she'd had times when she'd taken steps back and that it's not linear but her obsession with "excelling" at things... It reminded me of how she handled her twisted bowel. She always wants to be the best, the person who recovered the fastest, is the tallest, the thinnest.

Obviously hope she feels better soon, but that little reel probably would do more harm than good to other mental health sufferers, speaking as one. Especially because she kept it so vague. No, she doesn't owe her audience anything, but it's like she's ashamed. She spoke in great detail about her twisted bowel, her anemia, the coil, etc. But this she just says "mental health issue."

Yeah I’d agree that she‘s become so obsessed with having this perfect life. Perfect house, relationship, body, job, work life balance etc and maintaining that image on social media. But as we all know not everything we see on SM is real or accurate and it’s not always possible to keep up the pretence. It’s not surprising really that she’s had a breakdown or MH crisis when you take all that info account. Honestly if I was her I’d take a longer break. A month isn’t long enough. She might be feeling a bit better, but it’s a long read to recovery.
