If you know me, you know I think working is very overrated.

You're basically trading each hour of your life for whatever your employer has decided each hour of your life is worth to pay you to show up.

Coming out of the Job Centre the other day some portly bald guy tried looking down his nose at me, a simple “don’t forget to set your alarm clock for Monday morning” put him right back in his place. He sulked off frustrated and impotent.

Hilarious knowing that a % of his pay is taken each month to support me and people like me, and there’s nothing he can do about it.

My mum has been moaning and attempting to "catch out" my dad for smoking for nearly 40 years. I am so bleeping bored of hearing about it now. He's nearly 70, he's unlikely to stop now and he's a bleeping grown up, give it a bleeping rest and move the duck on, or at the very least stop telling me about it.

That instead of ringing my pharmacy to request repeat prescription each month like i’m used to, I’m told I now have to order by the NHS app or go in in person, ask for a slip, fill it in each time. Just tried downloading the NHS app and it’s asking me to record myself saying numbers and taking a photo of my ID. It’s probably legitimate but it feels shady  😬 I used to be able to to ring up and say “I need another inhaler please, pick up in 72hrs, great, thanks”. Argh.

It's a bit annoying but once it's all set up it's really easy. My mum is a major technophobe and she hated the idea of the app - but once I'd shown her how to use it, she was well away. She says her repeat prescriptions are much quicker than they used to be as the doctor just approves them electronically as soon as she submits the request, rather than the old paper trail.

Hopefully you find it as easy once you're up and running!

Forgot to add my own rant! When people are on their phone when you're trying to talk to them. It's so rude. I wanna just grab it out their hands. 😂

Just a question. If you feel this way then why haven't you looked into starting your own business where you could be in control? I know it's not always possible but just wondering if it's a lack of interest or if you don't like the control?

Ignore him. He’s just a troll. Likes saying bizzare inflammatory nonsense to try to get a rise out of people on here. Can assume it’s all made up rubbish.

I completely agree, however just to play devils advocate - when you have 25 minutes at lunch to sit and scroll through Instagram and tattle etc, and someone comes to chat with you so you feel like you have to put your phone away. Sometimes I just want to be left alone to stare at my phone in peace 😭

Yeah it's fine if someone approaches you and you're already on your phone, I meant people (eg my nieces and nephews) that always seem glued to their phones.

This government is an absolute disgrace. 85 million already for the covid enquiry. People are literally choosing between food and energy. I could weep.

Vicky pattison just posted on her stories! Literal free gifted basket of M&S stuff!
That makes me so sad .Im not even mad, just feel sad at the thought of the people in need those hampers could have helped.
Greedy cunts .The influencers snd M&S

Work have started sending around virtual cards for people to sign for employees who are leaving. I don’t have an issue with that but the site they use has a box where you put your message and a box where you put your donation, and you can’t write a message without a donation. 😫 it’s really irritating me because I don’t want to not write goodbye messages for my colleagues, but I’m also trying to cut back at the moment and I could do without donating as mean as it sounds. Also, it shows what everyone else has donated so if I just donate £1 for the sake of going through the screen it looks like I’m being tight when everyone else has donated £5, £10, £20 🙈 very petty and not an end of the world problem I know it’s just a bit annoying!!
Aw man this is so horrible .I feel for you x

Well I had the opposite happen. Went to visit my brother and I specialise in IT so my nephew has taken an interest in it and technology the kid didn't leave me alone for the entire 2 weeks, I love him dearly but found myself hiding from him, an 11 year old. I'd much rather he was glued to his phone.

I had accidentally ordered a hello fresh order and was sure I cancelled it until It arrived today and I couldn’t get a refund. It was 4 meals for 2 people and I didn’t need it. I put it up for free on a app for someone who’s struggling for food to try and help and I didn’t want it to go to waste. Anyway someone messaged asking for it and collected it. They didn’t even have the decency to say thank you 😖.

I never give to receive but constantly find myself regretting doing kind gestures all the time because people just piss me off 🙃.

I find that people are struggling to say thank you these days. Like when holding doors, no acknowledgement from people these days!

Just being an adult in general. Everytime I get paid I have my full amount for probably about 10 minutes until it’s all gone.
i wish I was an animal. Especially like the one in my house who lives in it rent free and has everything paid for him. Not a care in the world 😅

NHS appointment system
Sorry - long rant!

I have a medical condition and so need to take daily medication for the rest of my life - it’s not life threatening, but I would become quite ill if not for the tablets. I have a yearly blood test to check that my medication is the correct strength and I can request a test if I feel ill, as this could be a sign my dosage needs adjusting. Perfect.
My annual appointment (telephone since Covid), was due in May. 7th April I receive a letter for an appointment on 22nd May, I’m abroad on this date and can’t guarantee that my mobile will have a signal, so use the on-line link shown on my letter, to advise them I need an appointment booking for after the 22nd when I will be back in this country.
4 days later I receive a letter stating my appointment has been rearranged - for exactly the same date and time as the original letter had shown.
So, I ring the hospital and explain what has happened. The lady stated she could see my on line request to change the appointment and couldn’t understand why I had received the second letter, would enter this call on my notes and forward everything to the department I’m under and a new appointment would be sent to me for after 22nd May.
Monday this week - 4 months later had heard nothing, (as I was feeling well I didn’t chase earlier as I thought I’d be reasonable about delays caused by Covid). Rang the hospital and went through everything and was told that because of Covid the waiting list for a telephone call from my consultant was very long and Mr Consultant was away at the moment, back in the hospital on 7th September, and would see what he could do regarding an appointment.
I asked why after being offered an appointment 4 months ago I appeared to be at the back of that waiting list. He said I wasn’t really put at the bottom of the list - just that they were very busy and were working their way through the backlog of telephone appointments and I would hear from them as soon as an appointment was available, couldn’t guarantee it would be soon.Unbelievable.
Today, I have received a text - my appointment is for 7th September- coincidentally the first day Mr Consultant is ‘back in the hospital!’
I just don’t understand the general inability to manage an appointment system- but what has annoyed me most is the last telephone call, where it must have been obvious to the person I spoke to that my 2 efforts to rearrange the appointment had been totally messed up. Why lie?
Don’t know how folk who are desperately ill or elderly, for example, cope with the absolute incompetency of the NHS appointment system.

I understand your frustration. The amount of times I've heard "Dr... is away for such and such amount of weeks" "You'll be contacted by our consultant as soon as he comes back". For MULTIPLE departments. Are they ever at work? Is it just something they use to fob you off? And when they give you a telephone line so you have to sit and devote 1 hour of your day just to get through to usually be told they're not in :cautious:

I mentioned my numerous issues regarding being unable to get results of blood tests, queries about prescriptions, appointments etc, etc…..to my consultant pre-covid, in a face-to-face appointment. He sympathised with me and (seemingly as an immense privilege), gave me his personal secretary’s telephone number.
Utterly pointless, either rings out or goes direct to voicemail no matter what time of the day I ring. It’s almost as if having patients to deal with is a major inconvenience, Lord knows what occupies so much of their time - it’s definitely not dealing with patients 🤷🏼‍♀️
