Speaking of scaling back does anyone have any intel on Cursed Child in London moving to the one part version in 2024? Been hearing rumblings for years but hearing it more and more now so think it may actually be imminent.

Also heard a rumour they’re due to move theatre out of the West End but I’m less convinced on that one. I think that’s come from pure speculation.

I know most of the other productions have scaled down to one part. Broadway I think was the first and they did it shortly after the original cast left. I wasn't aware that they were going to do it with the original production.

Yes London is the only one still doing the two-part, the other remaining productions are now one part.

They were adamant when Broadway went to one part that London would remain two-parts for the “foreseeable” as they wanted to give the opportunity for the original production still to be seen (though it has been revised multiple times over the years with the biggest revision being the version the current cast are performing) but hearing more and more it’s to move to the one part next year. I've been to the London two part version three times and have always done the Thursday/Friday shows where you see part 1 on the Thursday night and part 2 on the Friday night. I agree it's a lot to have to sit through if your doing it in one day. Especially in the balcony when (even at 4ft 11) the lack of leg room gets uncomfortable.

That's what's put me off, plus not managing to get tickets. I think they should film the 2 part version for the archives and then do a one part version. Surely, by not having to run to an audience over two sittings, it opens up availability to others to attend?

Awww Samantha Barks is having a baby! Leaving for maternity leave on the 23rd. I've never heard of her replacement, Jenna Lee-Jones, but I gave her a Google and it says she's 46 - don't get me wrong I'm sure she'll be fantastic, but isn't that a little bit old for playing Elsa (who is meant to be 21)?

Due October 2023 so not a new thing, their just late in announcing I think.

I thought that as well! She was congratulating the new Anna actress and saying she's excited to work with her (new actress starts in September), so maybe she did only find out recently, or they were just keeping it under wraps.

I'm also wondering if Samantha will be back at all, as there's rumours about Frozen closing early next year! Very much hope not, as she deserves to be there on the final night.

Nothing has been confirmed yet, officially, but it has been heavily speculated both he and Ramin have split from their respective wives.

ooo can you explain in a nutshell what the main revisions have been to the west end version? i know whats taken out for the one part version and have seen the two part several times, but i guess its too long for me to pick up on changes because i'm just trying to stay awake the entire time

I will try summarise but it’s mostly brought into line with a lot of the one part script revisions now. I’ll put some specifics in spoilers (which hopefully works as I’ve never tried the spoiler function here).

The main change is the script revisions regarding Albus and Scorpius. Scorpius liking Rose romantically is now removed and it’s made clearer he only wants to be her friend. There’s multiple script and blocking changes that make it clear there’s some sort of feelings between Albus and Scorpius and Delphi references Albus’ weakness as being ’love’ now when she’s threatening Scorpius. It used to be ‘friendship’. The biggest changes in this regard is towards the end when Albus and Scorpius are talking Scorpius references he’s planted the acorn with Rose that will grow into a palace of harmony (rather than leading to their eventual marriage). Albus then questions if that’s really who he would want in his palace before they’re interrupted by Rose who says the usual line of things only being weird if they let it be weird. The blocking after is changed though so now once she says that the actors sort of relax and Albus puts his hand on Scorpius shoulder. During Albus chat with Harry he now tells him that Scorpius is the most important person in his life and might always be. Harry accepts this and says it’s a good thing.

Albus being sorted into Gryffindor in the first alternate timeline has now been completely removed. He stays in Slytherin.

There’s various other script changes that reduce some of the running time and the final battle is much shorter now. The scene with the residents of St. Oswald’s has been completely cut. Draco and Harry do a lot more exposition to explain the Delphi thing now.
