Mason was amazing - the cast seems to work really well together. It is a show that wouldn't work if it was done by the wrong people. Would be interested to see a different Mary as American reviews say that each new Mary makes it their own.

I’ve actually seen 4 different Marys and it’s a role that anyone can make their own. Saw it originally with Cole Escola after it opened on Broadway and thought they were hysterical, then Betty Gilpin (who I’m not really familiar with but could do a 3-show day due to the Thursday 5pm show at the time), seeing a female as Mary gave it a different take. Booked again to see Tituss Burgess (for another 3 show day) but he called out last-minute so saw understudy Hannah Solow (who I was actually pleased to see as I’d been following her on insta for a while) and she is a great comedic actress. Then saw Mason over here and thought they were also great. Interested to see if it extends in London and if so, who else might get to play Mary.
That’s interesting & of course I was definitely doing Cole a disservice. Mason to me was a revelation & gave it their everything but it’s such a fun role that any actor full of energy & comedic timing could give it a good shot.
No doubt Georgie, who was covering for Kate as Mary’s chaperone when I saw it, would be great too. But I do really hope I get to see Mason when I go again as they’re definitely very special
A recommendation - Ballad Lines at the Southwark Playhouse is absolutely amazing. So refreshing to see an original musical. Cast were outstanding, songs are brilliant and the story is really moving.
Mason was fantastic. I would love to be able to see Jinkx Monsoon do the role - it is absolutely within her wheelhouse (the fact that she returned says it all!) Thinking more UK, I’d love to see Victoria Hamilton-Barrett take on Mary, she’d eat the role for breakfast 
Mason leaves in April, it is extending and a woman is taking over as Mary. I know who and it is an interesting choice, not an obvious choice, but I can't say who because someone I love dearly will get in to big trouble if it gets out that beans have been spilled.

I was lucky enough to see the original production with Lea Salonga and Jonathan Pryce. Saw the touring production in Oxford in December. The understudy was on as Kim and she was brilliant, what a fabulous voice! The Engineer (Seann) was amazing, but I didn’t like the way they’ve made the character more foul mouthed, there was quite a bit of swearing and innuendo (I’m not a prude!) The helicopter scene was disappointing - will it change when it returns to the West End? And I agree about Now That I’ve Seen Her, why on earth did they cut that? ‘Maybe’ is not an adequate replacement. All that aside, if you haven’t seen it before you will love it! It’s just us oldies that compare it to the original that feel a bit cheated!

I'm bored of swearing and innuendo in what feels like everything.
Apparently there's quite a bit of that in Les Mis these days. Glad I saw it several times when it was the "traditional" production with the revolve, I don't think I'd enjoy it at all now.
I wish writers and actors would realise how powerful swearing is... in moderation. Nothing like a well placed "duck" or "bleep" to pack a punch but that power is lost if swearing is throughout.
I'm so glad for 'slime tutorials' that preserve some of these classic shows as I feel they were meant to be. Even if the video or sound isn't always the best, I'm deeply grateful they exist.
The only innuendo I can think of in Mis at the moment is the Thenardiers in master of the house and I don’t believe there’s any swearing, I’m not sure who told you that! Only saw it a couple of weeks ago

I mean we have “b” and “tit” in MoTH but that’s the extent of it across the whole show. My extremely Catholic mother-in-law loves it and she’s the most sheltered person I’ve ever met 🫠
