I’ve got a skirt, lace top and corset top that all need altering- skirt needs shortening, and taking in at the waist, and a bustle adding, both tops need taking in, and the lace one needs a few other bits changed too. I’ve been told it’ll be £150-200 using the designer the boutique recommended… but again, not sure until I’ve actually seen her. Seems to be a fairly standard price based on a few friends who have used the same lady
Ok that’s not too bad, maybe I’m panicking for no reason haha. I guess you’re paying for their time too and it’s complicated work! 😁

It’s crazy isn’t it! We’re getting married this July and have just booked Cornwall for the week after, we’re going to go to Florida next year in a quieter month instead!
That’s a good idea. Sounds amazing. Our wedding is March 2023 and we’re doing a UK holiday afterwards too. But it’s my 30th birthday in the July (and partners birthday too!) and I don’t get enough annual leave to take it all off separately ☹

Ah that one is slightly cliche for my fiance and I, were having say you won't let go by James Arthur

Before our first dance though, I'm surprising my fiance by singing for him, he loves my singing, I used to sing in choir and a band but a horrible ex knocked my confidence, so haven't sang in front of groups of people since. My fiance bought me a guitar and microphone to try and get me to record and everything.
Before we got engaged he said if one thing was going to make him cry it would be if I sang in front of him and our family and friends because it would show just how much I loved him because he knows the thought terrifies me.
So I'm singing Remember us this way by lady gaga from a star is born. Its a movie we love to watch together and it was the first song I sang in front of him.
I love this so much! And he will too ❤

Anyone know any good places to look for non-religious wedding readings?

Also, I’d not really heard of buying gifts for parents/in laws for our wedding 😬 what’s the idea behind that?

Are you showing your fiancé your dress? My fiancé doesn’t get an opinion on my dress. I’ve not shown him any dresses and he has no idea what I’m wearing! He won’t know a thing until the big day! 😃
I'm not going to show him the one I eventually pick i just wanted to see what style he liked so sent him loads I had seen I was going to try. I will eventually pick which ever I really like and just hope he likes it too 😂

Rant
My MIL keeps implying how I shouldn't be spending a lot of money on my wedding dress and its bothering me
She keeps suggesting renting a dress, buying second hand etc and keeps implying i shouldn't be spending a lot on a dress
Which annoys me for 2 reasons
1- she isn't paying anything towards my dress so how's it her business, and neither is my h2b (even if he was, again its not her business)
And 2- her husband (my h2b stepfather), his daughter that they NEVER see, is getting married and they've paid for her wedding dress which cost £4k!

This isn't the only thing she's offered an opinion on, we've picked a gorgeous venue but before we put the deposit down she was sending us venues that looked so nasty. One looked like an old man's pub. Shes not offered to pay anything towards the wedding so again, I don't know how its her business.

My partner and I are paying the entire wedding ourselves, apart from my dress which my parents have offered to pay.
Since she is contributing to this £4k wedding dress, I think my partner will be very hurt if she doesn't even offer to pay towards the kilt hire or anything.

I'm inviting mine, despite her opinions on the wedding which are annoying me we get along very well.
If you didn't want to invite her to the main hen party you could do something low key for just say your bridal party and mum and mil, like an afternoon tea or something.
Wow that’s rude!! Especially when she’s not offering to pay for anything - but even if she was her opinions wouldn’t be welcome then anyway.

My hen celebration is only a day out at a spa and dinner and drinks in our city, so it couldn’t be any more low key anyway. She just seems to be a bit of a nightmare recently with eating, and I’m not sure if she’d be comfortable with a spa, but my mum will be there and I’ve chosen this weekend as my OH is away with his dad, so it seems mean to exclude her. Ugh 😑

We’re not asking for anything either, I’m just happy people will be coming, but if they do ask me I will mention money for the honeymoon!

The local lady sent me over her draft invites and they're awful so that's good 🙃
Oh no! I’m thinking of trying a few sellers from Etsy myself. They seem to do sample packs so will order a few.
Still not sure when to actually send invites though! Wedding is Sept so am thinking in the new year

We’re not having one but my SiL estimated, and put the order in, about 6 months ahead. She had to change one but it was easier to change the order apparently than start fresh?
Ah right that’s a good idea! I was trying to leave it as last minute as possible
