I disagree. You have to go to a post office to collect the form in the first place, which when you work full time is a challenge in itself. Also the amount of places you have to do is such a pain. I have to change my name 3x, separately, with just my council and each needs an original copy of my marriage certificate, and have to return it to me to send to the next department.

Having to go in to a bank is also a pain.
Not to mention the delays with anything DVLA related over the last two years.. if they need an original copy of your marriage certificate you could be without it for months? I’m not sure how many you get or if you have to pay for extra copies (it may be different for me getting married abroad) but something else to bear in mind for sure.

My friend was just telling me to get extra copies of the certificate. We gave notice last week (legally getting married here, proper wedding abroad). They didn’t tell us if we can pay for extra copies but hoping we can.

You now have to order them all, you don’t get given a certificate on the day at all so you have to order them. You pay individually for each certificate so you can have as many as you like, they’re £11 each. We were able to have a commemorative certificate but it means nothing legally. I ordered 2 copies (1x next day delivery which actually arrived home before we did 🤣, 1x standard that has yet to arrive)

I have just found the most perfect wedding song! It’s from Lizzie McGuire movie what dreams are made of 😆 but it’s Brent Morgan’s version it’s lush! Not sure if it would be best for walking down the aisle (can you even have music instead of the organ for a church wedding?) or first dance! (Not sure if it’s too slow for first dance song if they can even be too slow?) 😆

Does anyone have any tips on flower girl dresses? How late are you leaving it before you purchase them?

We’re not having one but my SiL estimated, and put the order in, about 6 months ahead. She had to change one but it was easier to change the order apparently than start fresh?

Ah right that’s a good idea! I was trying to leave it as last minute as possible

Hi all!

I (34 F) proposed to my partner of 6 years (42 M) last week and we decided to just get it over with. No ceremony, no party, because financally we cant and neither of us ever wanted a traditional, all singing and dancing show. My parents cant be in the same room together, so I would have had to invite 1 or the other which i simply cant do, so it will just be us, my 2 kids and 2 friends. So we booked our giving notice for April and the 'ceremony' for May! We havent told any except the witnesses. We might do an annoucement after its done but honestly im not too fussed by that either!

Im already getting a headache looking at the list of things that i will need to change my name on. Not to mention the kids names too!

But what i am really stuck on is what to wear. Im not girly girly so i dont think ill wear a dress but any ideas for something 'smart casual'?

Is anyone else really unsure of how they want their hair and if they want a veil etc?

i always thought I didn’t want a veil, but looking at photos it seems most people have one and it does look nice, so now I’m unsure?

I’ve also changed my mind so many times on how I want my hair!😂
