How’s everyone having their hair for their wedding? I had my hair trial last week and have to have a bun I think as my hair won’t hold curls long so can’t wear it down even though I’d have preferred to. I do have quite long hair and it’s super thick and I just feel like my bun was huge and looked stupid, but not sure what else to do other than cut my hair 😭
Why not have it straight? Or some up some down with some pretty clips x

gonna start with save the dates/ wedding invites, any advice on where to get them? I’ve seen QR codes on invites before..how do I do that?
There’s a few posts on page 16 about QR codes & collecting RSVPs ☺

It is so easy to get sucked into the wedding talk and costs but if you genuinely feel negatively about spending X amount on something I don't understand why people do it? Genuine question and I've been there, we were literally on the brink of cancelling because I was getting carried away, looking at an expensive photographer and then videographer on top, nearly £4000 for both, I'm sorry but no matter how good the photos are they aren't worth that! So many of you are saying oh but X amount is good for a dress/photographer etc etc but the reason the wedding industry is extortionate is because people spend those crazy amounts 🤯
My partner and I have a decent budget and there are elements of the day we want to spend more money on than others.
We sat down right at the start of planning and worked out that our photographer would be between £1000 - £2500, same with my wedding dress, I budgeted between £500 - £1200 for it.
The photographer is within budget and although she is expensive, her work speaks for itself and I couldn't imagine having chosen anyone else.
The same with my dress, as much as people might think it's a lot for one day, I'm within budget and know the dress is perfect for me.

Some elements of my day I do not want to cheap out on, and I don't regret or feel negatively about the money I've spent/spending as I know it will be worth it :)

I can still be shocked at some of the prices though lol, think a quote I was given for stationary was mindblowing and really that was one expense I was more than happy to cut back on because I was able to do my own save the dates on Vista Print for literally a fraction of the cost and they looked so lovely.

congratulations :)

enjoy your engaged bubble!

I’m getting married on a Friday in march,
I went to a wedding last week which was on a Wednesday. My cousins wedding was a Thursday. It seems to be quite popular now and I guess the earlier in the week the better price you will get with some venues.
I wouldn’t worry about guests, those that matter will be there regardless of the day :)

It might also just depend on how big the venue is in regards to the minimum guests they require. Our venue doesn’t have a minimum but then it’s not a huge venue.

do you guys all have identical rings to your partner? i want something really dainty that i could wear with my engagement ring and he wants a typical, more masculine ring but he doesn't like the idea of us having different rings. i don't have a problem with that though!

Could you ask family to pay for the meal in lieu of gifts? FIL quite happily agreed to pay for the meal as it meant he didn’t have to faff around working what to buy us!

I’m actually getting married in 2 hours and currently sat in my dressing down with a tea because this morning I managed to melt the sleeve of my dress on the iron - this silly cunt didn’t look at the label that said “don’t iron” (it’s cotton ffs??). Fortunately we know the seamstress up the road who I’m hoping can do something but fuck me I feel like a twat.
Eeeek, you must be just about to get married now! All the best lovely xx

Did anyone do a top table with their parents? I lost my mum last year and OH has both of his parents and I worry it'll look uneven, but we also don't have a MOH/Best man (although the best man situation may change, but I'm firm on no MOH as I simply can't choose).

I'm the most unorganised bride ever!! We get married end of May and still have loads to sort 😳 baring in mind though we are going away with just our kids to get married and some close family, possibly a couple of friends if they end up coming but less than 10 guests overall

However we don't have rings yet have I left it too late 😬?
Also I need flowers (artificial) was planning on getting etsy ones but can't believe how expensive they are so wondered if anyone has any cheap ideas or are etsy the best prices I'm going to get? Not saying they're a rip off I have no idea of these things

I probably have more questions but won't overload my comment

Looking for your opinions please 🙏

I’m getting married in October…. Originally had planned and booked for a wedding for 60 people however ended up changing our minds and now having a wedding for 150.

When we originally booked the wedding we booked transport (wedding bus) which holds 70 people to take us from the church to our reception venue but obviously the bus now isnt big enough to hold all 150 guests.

We can’t really afford to hire another wedding bus for the remaining amount of people but I am now
worried it’s going to be really awkward when people come out of the church and see the wedding bus and wonder if they should get on or not.

Our wedding party and immediate family is about 40 people, so there would be room for another 30 or so. But how do we agree who gets on and who doesn’t?
I have mentioned the bus to a few people in conversation when talking about the wedding, it’s just this is now keeping me up at night (aside from my fiancés snoring whilst he has a restful deep sleep!).

Would really appreciate people’s opinions- am
I overthinking it ? Will it be awkward? Any ideas on how we manage numbers getting on? Any help at all appreciated ! X

Thanks, guys :D

We have our first viewings for venues next weekend. Does anyone have any tips of what to look out for, or ask? We're really early days as we only got engaged two weeks ago but we have a proposed date of March 2027 and so ideally want to get our venue booked in asap!

Is anyone else freaking out about all the legal stuff? I’m so scared I’ll miss something or fill something out wrong along the way somewhere
What stuff do you mean? The ceremony stuff for the registrar? Ours is just song and wording choices, please don’t tell me there’s something else I have to do 😂

My wedding is less than 10 weeks away now and the panic well and truly set in once we got to January. It’s suddenly all I’m thinking about and I spent a few nights last week not sleeping just lying in bed thinking about it all 😩

I booked my first dress fitting last week and that suddenly snapped me back into diet mode so I got the couple of pounds I gained over Christmas and another two off so have 6lbs left to lose. Excited to get my dress back on next week though!

Yes haha I am exact same as you! People keep asking me am I excited and I do this face 😬 - really starting to freak out too. I think the worst bit for me is the idea of walking down the aisle and all eyes on me as I'm quite shy and hate the attention on me.

Ah I'm ok for that too as I'm staying in our venue the night before and then for another 2 nights.. but I am a bit worried of how I'm going to get out of the venue and into the car without any of the guests seeing me... will be like a top secret mission 😂

Good Luck lovely! Not long.. I feel like these last couple of weeks will fly in and I want them to slow down so much, Feb has been the quickest month of my life.
Hahah I know! People in work are constantly like “ooh not long now” and I’m like umm yeah 😩🤣 I’ve got my final dress fitting tomorrow and can’t believe the next time I put my dress on will be my wedding day!

Have you got a coordinator to help? Mine and my photographer are going to make sure no one sees me when we try to do a first touch so hoping that goes well!

I know it is going so fast! It’s my hen do on Saturday and then I can’t believe it’s only two weekends before it! I hope it all goes well for you too 😊

I would! Who cares - you have two great bridesmaids with you! Enjoy it! You might regret not doing it looking back and I doubt anyone will look at you three enjoying yourselves and think anything bad!

I’m having one local hen with only 10 guests because certain people couldn’t make it and at first I was a bit embarrassed because you always see photos of massive groups but I realised then how stupid that was as I have 10 people willing to celebrate me which is great!
Thank you, that’s so true! I thought exactly the same thing, I was just imagining people laughing 🥲 but that’s really helpful!

Just looking for some advice if possible
I’ve fallen in love with a wedding dress that’s a chunk more expensive than I’d wanted to spend but not too ridiculous and I think I’m gonna go for it because I absolutely love it and we’re not going ridiculously wild with the rest of the wedding so feel like I can justify it
I just wondered if anyone has done the same and regretted spending too much later on?
Or even wanted to do the same and went for a more budget-friendly option and regretted not just paying a bit more for the one they really wanted?
Sorry for the ramble!

Anyone getting married in flats? I definitely want to as my partner is the same height as me so don't want to be taller in photos 😆 plus I'm not the best at walking in heels
I can't decide whether to get something along the lines of converse or just some nice sandals
Yep I am! I got some high top converse, 2 reasons, one I don't want to wear heels 😆 and two I want to wear my shoes again and again, I know with heels that wouldn't be likely to happen. If you want to do flats for any reason, do flats 😁

Aw as long as it’s only little bits it’ll be fine! 😊

Oh no that’s not good then! Maybe wait til after Christmas to push more but honestly after that I would be stressing myself! I haven’t spoken to mine for a few months but will be messaging after Christmas to sort my trial and she’s always been good at responding luckily!

Omg have you? I don’t even know when mine will be, I had an info sheet from my bridal shop to call them 10 weeks before to sort my fitting so I think it’ll be 8 weeks out, I hope that’s not late! 😳 aw bet you’re excited to see it again then!! 🤩
aw that’s good, I’m glad that’s been a bit of a weight lifted for you and something you haven’t needed to worry about. Il deffo try after Christmas as I’m prob not on her radar atm.

Tbh I think they’re just trying to get as much money out of me as possible as I’ve a fitting each month until the wedding which so many people have said to me isn’t needed! Il do this one and then maybe ask to wait until February as I don’t think I need 4 bloody dress fittings so I wouldn’t worry if I was you honestly ❤

Has anyone ever gotten married or planning to get married at their local city hall?
How much did it cost?

I know each city would be different but wanted to have a rough idea!
