Congratulations!! How was it? Where did you go on honeymoon?

Apart from marrying my partner, that's what I'm looking forward to the most tbh! We've both been saving a significant-for-us amount each month and I can't wait to take little trips again, go on more dates, get my hair dyed at the hairdresser and just be a bit carefree when it comes to spending money!
It was just amazing, loved every second of it, and will never forget the moment the doors opened and I walked down the aisle. Just kept focusing on my husband. I was shaking like a leaf! But I had the best day of my life ❤

We went to the Maldives, which I know is very cliche, but we wanted somewhere we could relax after the craziness of the past few months, the wedding, etc., and just reflect on it all :)

This is it for us too, we love to travel and go out at weekends for meals, drinks, day trips and I like buying rit on amazon, asos etc - the past few months especially we have had to just be a lot more wedding focused with money... So its nice for the normality to be back and as you say a little bit carefree when it comes to money instead of watching every single penny!
I'm also loving that I'm now married, I just feel really settled all of a sudden! 😂

When is your wedding? Honestly enjoy every second as it goes so quickly ❤

Aw that sounds lovely! Both the wedding itself and the Maldives ❤ It’s a shame my fiancé isn’t a beach holiday kind of person because chilling in the Maldives sounds like absolute bliss!

We’re getting married in 63 days! We’ve been engaged since September 2023 so the penny absolutely still hasn’t dropped that I’m getting married in two months 🤣 I’m very much still convinced that it’s ages away

Depending on what you're looking for but a friend of mine has a few bits from Bloom Boutique for more personalized bits that were nice.

I went very hard on jewellery and made my wedding the excuse to buy a bracelet from Mappin and Webb 😅

When my daughter got her wedding dress, the bridal shop stocked a brand called Ivory & Co which looked decent.

My daughter actually got hers from Pandora in the end.

Can I come here for a moan? I don’t want to bring down the tone of the thread but I don’t know where else to rant into the ether!

We’re getting married in a few months and while I’m excited to be married, I’m not at all excited for the day. If it was up to me I would happily sign a marriage certificate and chuck it in the post. I already feel sick with nerves and I’m dreading it. It’s only a reg office ceremony and a meal out, and he’s invited about ten people, but that’s still too much for me. I’m autistic and chronically shy and I don’t like to be the centre of attention, don’t like talking, don’t like being around people. I don’t really have any family so I won’t have anyone there on “my side” (I know his family will become my family but you know what I mean), which in itself is making me upset. The only family member I want is dead. I’ve already cried buckets over that and I know I’ll be upset on the day. I don’t want anyone else but I’m conscious everyone’s going to be silently wondering why I‘m the sad-sack who doesn’t have anyone.

He didn’t want a proper wedding either but he’s compromised on numbers and not having friends or a proper booked party venue etc. for me. And he knows and appreciates I’ll find it difficult, and he’s bent over backwards to try and make it easier for me, so I can’t tell him that this is beyond my usual anxiety and level of struggle. I’m sure I won’t hate the day but I won’t be comfortable, but I’m not going to ruin it for him as well.

How the duck do I make myself enjoy it when I already don’t want to go to my own pissing ceremony? I’m treating myself to a massage the night before but anyone who’s been in the same boat as me, is there anything nice I could do for myself in the morning? How many shots is a reasonable number to have while I’m getting ready?!

Don't worry at all about "bringing the tone down" - this thread is for all the emotions ☺

I totally get it though. I'm actually fed up with wedding planning now and we opted for a more traditional hotel wedding to be close enough to my fiance's family so his parents wouldn't have to travel far and sure enough it now looks like they won't come anyway (don't get me started on them!) so we could have eloped after all which would have been our ideal and saved a TON of money. At this point, I'm like you, id like to just signed the damned bit of paper and be done with it. I might feel different on the day or after but that's my vibe now!

I'm also not having much family and it's so conflicting in terms of feelings as his "side" will definitely outweigh mine but I'm hoping that on the day it won't be as noticable as I'll just drown it out with the music at the party stage. If you're also a music lover, id recommend making your own ideal wedding Spotify playlist - that's really helped me in the down days and if I get shy or sad on the day, I'm going to either think of it, or request those songs from the DJ and just vibe!

Guys I went through a mixture of emotions leading right up to my wedding day. I genuinely hate being the centre of attention and I was having sleepless nights at the thought of walking down the aisle. We had around 80 guests and the idea of everyone's eyes on me was just really getting to me. But see, on the day, the whole buzz of the day took over, and the excitement outweighed the anxiety and stress. In my wedding video, you can see I'm shaking as I meet my husband at the altar, but looking back now, it was the best day of my life. All the initial thoughts I had that were causing me to get upset and stressed, just weren't there on the day, and having my husband by my side really helped. I know it isn't easy, your mind just runs away with itself and honestly I couldn't wait to get the whole thing over with. Be kind to yourselves, planning a wedding and everything else that comes with it is bloody hard... but you will be marrying your best friend so focus on the two of you and try to put everyone else out of your heads :)

Do you plan to be with your husband to be the night before your wedding? I did that and it was so lovely, I wouldn’t have slept a wink otherwise. Would you consider getting ready and walking down the aisle together? That might help with your nerves too?

My wedding invitations arrived today and I’m gutted that I’ve worded something wrong😩 what a waste of money

We had our day on Sunday and it was THE BEST. The only thing that went “wrong” is we couldn’t play a song 5 minutes before I was due to walk down the aisle. Our videographer had our teaser trailer delivered in less than 12 hours and had so many previews from our photographer already! One of the best days of my life. 🥰

Has anybody used dried flower petals for confetti from Shein?! They look really good for the price but would love some honest reviews 😊

In the spirit of gifting, one thing I am happy to do is buy gifts for my bridesmaids. They are my best pals and they have done so much with keeping me sane, honeymoon planning etc.

I hate tat though so I have bought them white trainers for the evening do 😂 I know their shoe sizes already from buying the bridesmaid heels and we all love a retro trainer so it was an easy shout and I know they'll use them again!

I have matching ones too so the evening do will be us gals in our Reeboks 😂 Bought them tonight on sale and absolutely buzzing!

Hey! Just some advice please, I’m in two minds of having bridesmaids or not, I’ve already told my friends that I don’t think I’m gonna have them as even though we are having a church wedding, we aren’t really a traditional couple and there are a few things we aren’t having that are classed as traditional. But my husband to be has decided he does want groomsmen etc so now I’m like awww it is really nice actually seeing them all get excited etc, I know who I’d have but the big question is… am I meant to have my 2 sister in laws as bridesmaids? I really don’t want them to be 🙈 we get on but they can be drama queens and I just don’t want that… I feel bad cos my partner has asked my brother to be a groomsman but that’s cos they’re friends and go to gigs together etc, I don’t really have the same relationship with his sisters… maybe if it was just the 1 sister but it’s the fact there are 2! Also if I am gonna have bridesmaids I’d only want 3/4 so that would only leave me with 1/2 friends! Help 🤣

I wasn’t going to have bridesmaids but I ended up having 5 my two best friends and my three sisters, I’m so glad I did couldn’t have done it without them we had such a good time on my hen dos and on the day all getting ready it was so lovely but have who you want it’s who you are comfortable with and who will help the whole day go smoothly and not cause any drama 🥰🥰

im having my 2 sisters and my niece as my bridesmaids, none of my friends and not my 2 future sisters in law , my finances sister got married last year and she didn’t ask me so that made it easier for me! Pick whoever you feel you have the closest relationships with and will help you on the lead up to the day! It doesn’t have to be your future sisters in law.

If you don’t want your SILs do not feel obligated to have them! I just had my best friend as my bridesmaid. I would’ve had one of my SILs but I don’t like the other one so I couldn’t ask one and not the other. Deffo had passive aggressive remarks from my MIL about not having them as bridesmaids. So we gave them little jobs so they felt included. The SIL I dislike conveniently happened to get a dress the same colour as my bridesmaid though… 🙄🙄🙄

Need some advice
Basically me and my partner have been together 12 years, have two young kids and aren’t interested in a big wedding. We’d rather spend our money on a big Disney trip. Our original plan was to elope in Orlando next year during our trip just the 4 of us.
having received some rather witchy comments from family I am starting to second guess
Neither of us are keen on a big wedding
I’d happily go to the town hall next week.
our other thought is to go the town hall with family and close friends and then a private meal..would it be cheeky to ask people to pay for their own food and I’ll buy a round of drinks?
we just don’t have the funds to do it. We’d only be doing it this way so others can celebrate with us. Otherwise we’d happily elope quietly
