Hahah I know! People in work are constantly like “ooh not long now” and I’m like umm yeah 😩🤣 I’ve got my final dress fitting tomorrow and can’t believe the next time I put my dress on will be my wedding day!

Have you got a coordinator to help? Mine and my photographer are going to make sure no one sees me when we try to do a first touch so hoping that goes well!

I know it is going so fast! It’s my hen do on Saturday and then I can’t believe it’s only two weekends before it! I hope it all goes well for you too 😊
Yesss people keep saying that to me too and I just look at them thinking please shush 😬 😂 I haven't got a coordinator but there is a person at both the hotel and ceremony venue that have been fab and have said they will help, so far they have been great so will just try to remain positive, Petrified though haha. I'm also doing my home hen this Saturday but it's nothing crazy. Have the best hen party and please come and let us know how the big day goes ❤

I’ve had my wedding seating chart finalised and made because everyone had said they could definitely come when speaking to them over the past couple of weeks. There is only 2 weeks to go.
Yesterday, I messaged two of the couple to check if any dietary requirements - and they got back today both giving excuses and now can’t come.
this is one table on my wedding seating chart pretty much gone, two people left on the table.
im not in a position to get another chart made so do you think I’d be okay to just combine the table with two people on it to another table and just stick both table names on that table? I know it’s probably going to look stupid :(
And I’m gutted having a reminder on my seating chart that a couple of people let me down so last minute.

That’s such a shame! I held off on my seating chart as long as possible because of people not giving us a straight answer etc. and finally confirmed it yesterday but what I was going to do if people dropped out (we have minimum numbers we have to pay regardless so were going to try to invite night guests to fill the spaces) was just say to people look for x name and sit there, but guessing your situation is a bit different?

I would probably do what you’ve said and just message those two people to tell them e.g. it says table 6 but go to table 5 so they know, I doubt anyone will care. It’s so difficult when people can drop out so close with things like the seating chart! So annoying for you too like you said!

I was the same, held out doing it for so long just incase and really thought 2 weeks before would be fine but clearly not. I had issues with people not giving a straight answer too at one point even though I made RSVP so easy by putting QR codes on the invites!

Our tables are just for the meals and speeches; then we go into a different room while they set up for the evening, and the tables are all moved so people can sit wherever they want. Thankfully I hadn't paid for the meals just yet.

I guess what has pissed me off the most is it took me to ask them about their food for them even to have the decency to say they aren't coming. If I hadn't asked that would they have bothered to say anything and just not turn up? So I suppose I'm thankful I know now.
I just think some people have no idea the amount of planning, money and stress goes into a wedding.

Honestly people are so rude! We’ve had someone drop out today saying they’re on call in work and they didn’t check their rota properly until now, cheers 🫠 so we have to try to fill the space when that person rsvp’d yes months ago!!

I’m so sad I’ve just worked out it’s less than 100 hours until my wedding day 😭 it’s come around way too fast haha

The excuses people make - I get it life can happen but with the table of 4 that cancelled on me, two of them are related so it was obvious one couple dropped out the other would be doing the same. I just think its a piss take when your wedding is so close, people forget the stress/cost etc than has gone into it. I won't be speaking to the people who dropped out again, I'm so petty 😂

I'm so sorry you have had similar, but I hope your day is amazing and everything you have dreamt and more! ❤

A bit of a niche one but can anyone recommend a more alternative/full glam makeup artist in the London area? More so north London towards Hertfordshire/Middlesex

This is going to sound insane but my hair stylist for the day keeps posting about gifts that brides have given her. So things like chocolates, prosecco etc.

I'm already paying her a lot of money so the concept of then going out and buying gifts seems odd (and not done in Ireland where I'm from unless it's like a family friend or something afaik?).

However I feel like I have to do it? Who do you buy these gifts for then? Do I need to also buy the photographer, and venue staff gifts? Please help!

Also, wtf is with gifting parents are English weddings? My MIL has not put in a penny yet I'm meant to get her a bouquet to say thanks?? Hahaha

I wouldn’t 🤣 I get they’re posting pics of the gifts because it’s a nice gesture but then it makes other people feel they should and so on.

Nothing wrong if you did want to but you’re paying them a lot of money for their service and like you say where does it stop. Also my hairdresser is a family but still no gifts for her 🤣🤣

Also didn’t get the parents gifts, (they contributed a small amount) I invited them to take some of the wedding flowers home instead.

I might be tight but I don’t care 🤣🤣🤣

I’ve seen this happen a few times on social media and in my local Facebook group but I don’t intend on gifting them anything! Our caterer doesn’t do “supplier meals” so we’re paying for our photographer and our videographer to have a three-course meal. That can be their gift 😅 As for the hairdresser and MUA, I’m not gifting them anything apart from access to our breakfast platter if they’re feeling pecking 😆 I agree with you, they’re self-employed, they set their prices, they’re providing a service and I’m paying them for it so I don’t see the need to gift them something even if the pressure is there.
Imo, they’d prefer to get a positive review on their business page than tat from B&M!

Thanks both! Good to know I'm not the only one wondering what this is all about!!

I think I'm gonna just stand firm on not getting anything for the day for suppliers, I would feel like I had to buy them all. I will do some thank you notes, sent after the wedding. As someone else mentioned similar, I am also paying for a 3 course meal for my suppliers as the venue does it that way rather than supplier meals.

The parents gifts still baffle me but my fiancé knows his parents will be expecting them and doesn't want to rock the boat too much (however I'd happily tell them to get a grip!). My mum is baffled by the concept and said to just give her an empty envelope that looks like a voucher and save myself the money 😂 I'm obviously not going to do that if the MiL is getting something but my mum is as baffled as me

Little rant about our wedding venue incoming...

Me, every time I hear for our venue coordinator.

I don’t even know where to start, she’s been absolutely useless! Red flags were there from the very beginning. We struggled for three weeks to get the contract after she said she would send it later that day. In the meantime, we kept chasing her and she alternating between not replying or saying we’d get it that day, but nothing happened. She did tell us that they had secured our date in their system, but that wasn't enough for us, we wanted a written contract in place before we started booking our other suppliers. I don't know if we were being too demanding or not. At that point, I told my fiancé I was having second thoughts and was worried the venue was just too new. I even posted about her years ago and should definitely have listened to the advice to walk away 😅 He reassured me, saying it was such a beautiful venue, it would become more popular, and they’d get their act together in the year and a half before our wedding. He also said that because it’s a DIY venue, we wouldn’t actually need her much since we’d be bringing in our own suppliers, etc. I messaged another bride who had gotten married there. She said the coordinator was great, but that her wedding was last-minute, so she couldn’t afford to be slow with replies. That reassured me, thinking it was a good sign the coordinator managed a last-minute wedding.

I’m definitely the worrier in our relationship, so I trusted my fiancé and we went ahead and booked it. But her replies kept being slow. Eventually, I asked my fiancé to take over communication because I thought maybe she had an issue with me chasing the contract so many times. For a while, she was quick to respond to him, so I thought it was just a "me" issue. But then she started being slow again. I’m not talking a couple of days slow, I mean a week minimum, all while posting content on their socials.

We went back to view the venue to take some measurements, and by then we had already paid 60% of the venue. If we hadn’t, I probably would have backed out. The venue is a big barn with on-site accommodation for 20 people. We visited on a Sunday and had to knock on the window until the mother of the bride from the previous night’s wedding let us in. The venue coordinator was inside the barn too, but apparently didn’t notice us. She was behind the bar and didn’t acknowledge us for a while. We stood there awkwardly for a bit, then each went to the loo, with me loudly saying I hoped she’d notice us when we came back. When she finally did acknowledge us, she joked that it had been a heavy night (you’re the venue coordinator, not a guest?!) and laughed, saying she had double-booked herself, so another couple was about to arrive. She kind of rolled her eyes as she laughed like “lol, what am I like?”

I was so frustrated, but by then we were already locked in, so I just had to suck it up and deal with it.

Now, with just two months to go, she’s driving me insane. We’re trying to sort out the drinks since we’ve got our RSVPs back, and my fiancé asked her for a price list or a list of drinks they offer so we can figure out what to do for the drinks reception. I kid you not, her response was, “The bar is well-stocked with everything you can expect to find in a bar, but let me know if you want something else, and I’ll see if I can source it for you.” Am I tripping or is that an insane response? You work at a wedding venue, a couple getting married in two months asks for a list of drinks, and this is the response? I’m not asking for anything fancy or complicated or for you to list every flavour of gin you stock, but can’t you at least tell me, “Glass of cava = £X, glass of prosecco = £Y, bottle of 33cl lager = £Z. We can also do Pimms and whatever for £x a glass"? Are we really the first couple to ask for a list of what they offer? The worst part is that we had to wait three weeks for her to reply (chased after two weeks) and this is the amount of info we get.

I know it's our fault for picking them despite the red flags but 😩 😩 😩

We're really trying not to aggravate her as we don't want her to ruin our wedding day, but it's taking me so much strength to not tell her that we'd really appreciate if the service could reflect the price we paid for the venue (it wasn't cheap!).

Rant over!

It’s so annoying when venues and coordinators are like this!! For a start.. it’s absolutely not unreasonable to want a contract in order to book other suppliers.

I think the closer you get to the wedding the more generally stressed you feel, and dealing with people like this can make things feel overwhelming.

I can relate to feeling soooo frustrated with vendors or coordinators in the run up but also not wanting to make a nuisance of yourself for fear of repercussions. Ours made so many promises during the process which turned into issues or not possible within the final few weeks I was ready to murder someone ha. All the while posting tit on their socials about how amazing they are 🙄 I don’t have much advice but wanted to let you know you aren’t being unreasonable, and you aren’t alone 🥲

Honestly this does help! Thank you ❤

She’s being so casual about the whole thing that it’s making me second guess myself and wonder whether I’m the first bride who wants to know what drinks will be available for the drinks reception!

So its been 3 weeks since my wedding and I'm just back from our honeymoon - still on cloud 9. What a day!
Would love to do it all again but I am so ready now for all the little trips and holidays we can plan without having to worry about putting money into the wedding pot 😂 I really am just buzzing to properly start married life.
Thank you so much to everyone on this thread who helped me with advice etc over the past year and a half.
Good Luck to anyone still planning their wedding - it will absolutely be the best day of your life and all the little worries will just fall into place :)

Congratulations!! How was it? Where did you go on honeymoon?

Apart from marrying my partner, that's what I'm looking forward to the most tbh! We've both been saving a significant-for-us amount each month and I can't wait to take little trips again, go on more dates, get my hair dyed at the hairdresser and just be a bit carefree when it comes to spending money!
