Because he knows himself, he's successful and articulate and she is childish with playground humour. She never talks about anything more than surface level.
I thought she was really supportive in the documentary. Especially with him leaving when Otto was 8 days old...
I'm referring to in general, sorry! It's sad to see how she ridicules him a lot and talks down to him when she made a beeline for him clearly as he has money (her only true love) and all of a sudden she was pregnant! We've all said it here before. I'm sure the documentary is good, and she's on her best behaviour for the cameras but I wouldn't be a fan of her day to day behaviour.

I know it's not a rave thread but having just had my 2nd baby not long ago, I can't imagine my husband leaving for weeks to go to such a dangerous place so soon after giving birth. I know there are nannies and family staying, but your hormones are still totally up the left and I thought Vogue came across as very sincere and honest.
I think the video call at the end was genuine emotion towards his Mum from Vogue. Like just real mother to mother emotion. Since becoming a mum I cry at the news when I see anything bad related to children - even though they're not my own.
I think Spencer's optimism meant he never allowed himself to consider not finding Michael and therefore he maybe didn't even really think about how the family would feel in the event he wasn't brought home. They all knew it was a tough ask, but everyone in the same position would've still been holding onto the hope that they'd do it and that they'd get their "happy ending".

I was discussing it with my husband this morning and I told him to watch it and he was like.... I'm not watching that w**ker. So people definitely still see him as a reality TV star

Not watched it but if my husband left me with an 8 day old baby to do something so reckless and dangerous I would be livid. So many people don’t make it back from that mountain. I understand why he felt he had to but to potentially put his parents and family through it all again and for his children to grow up without their father is unbelievable self-indulgence.

There was a documentary posted on you tube about his brothers death and it really seemed like total negligence on behalf of the company, not saying his brother was totally blameless but there are/were definitely a lot of unanswered questions about what happened to him and why his professional guide left him behind and didnt seem to realise he wasn't with him for a length of time.

I know what you mean but he only trekked to base camp, I don’t know much about Everest but I don’t think it’s half as dangerous as what the Sherpas did? Someone correct me if I’m wrong

He went as far as he could and then left the rest to the experts.
Also, there's a very small window when you can actually go, if he didn't go when he did it would of been another year.
So much of it resonated with me. I lost my mam when I was 12. When I outlived her it was major. Still hits me from time to time.
Also him following paths and tracks his brother did must of been so powerful for him, I often drive down to Laytown beach to go for a walk because we used to go there on our holidays as kids. Walking along that beach I just feel so close to my mam.

I think I've always found the thought of Everest quite sinister, the fact that so many people die up there, that it's too dangerous to recover bodies so they just stay there, and people just step over them and use them as landmarks! (Turn left at the guy with the green boots etc!) Everything about it I find to be a bit of a horror story! So that's probably influenced my view!Totally understand that point of view too. He'd be the type to want to summit everest 100% he loves doing crazy stuff but won't due to his family, couldn't do that to them again
