I struggle swallowing tablets, I did get a lot better at it for a period of time and was taking Terra Nova vegan multivitamins

But at the moment I'm struggling to take them again so I've switched to some vegan multivitamin gummies by Garden of Life

It's such a minefield trying to decipher the better quality supplements. All these sodding review sites pick a different "best" brand every single time. I've just spent a cringy amount on marine collagen and omega 3 😭

Omega 3
Colllagen
Vit B mix
Zinc
Lactibane

I was a strict vegetarian for many years but then had some health issues which lead to a complete dietary overhaul. I think vegetarians and vegans need to be very careful and take supplements because it is very easy to miss out on vital nutrients. It is good that many people on this thread are taking vitamin B and some Omega 3. Yearly blood tests also a good idea which I will be doing.

What collagen brand do use for those that do & do you go for pill/liquid/other form?
My favourite is womens best true beauty (mango flavour). I only buy it when it is on offer. I also like Bulk Vanilla collagen too, usually a discount code for that flying around (I put this in my coffee). Both Powders.

Thanks for reply! Do you find it made a real difference, not just to your skin, but hair nails etc? Do you usually get off Amazon or direct from manufacturer? What made you choose these, recommendation? So many choices and so many conflicting reviews out there 🤯

There are a million different types, so many reviews! I spent weeks looking. Would you prefer a tablet or liquid or powder? Marine or bovine? I knew I'd forget to take a pill or liquid but can remember powder. It's one of those things that you can spend a fortune and I'm not sure there is that much difference (just my personal opinion!)

I picked the womens best one because it has hyaluronic acid in it too and I am crap at looking after my skin so thought it might help, and then the bulk one afterwards purely as I was doing an order with them anyway.

My skin looks the best it ever has, it's hard to explain but almost brighter? Hair and nails I haven't really noticed a difference but they grow fast anyway.

However the biggest difference has been to my sleep. I'm not sure that it is the collagen itself or one of the other ingredients but I've never slept well since having kids but when I started taking it my sleep improved a million percent. When I ran out it went back to being rubbish again.

If anyone does get the womens best one DO NOT get the peach iced tea one. It tastes grim. Oh and I buy direct from manufacturer.

I'm pretty sure the collagen supplements are a bit of a scam
Collagen is a protein so surely when you digest it, it's broken down into its amino acids components like any other protein and they're taken up, or excreted if they're in excess.
I can only think they 'work' because if your body is making a protein and a specific amino acid is limited, that protein cannot be made by the body. Perhaps the collagen supplements provide amino acids which your body lacks through a normal diet...

I'm just trying to say I think they use the word 'collagen' because it's associated with good skin so they charge more, but it's not directly increasing your collagen production etc.

.. if it's helping then fair enough 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I take primrose oil with b6 and vitamin d and omega 3 when i remember

I think it is good to be skeptical about all the supplements. I might move towards a multivitamin supplement to save money and have to take less individual supplements. I guess you can experiment - a lot of people seem to see differences in their bodies after taking collagen.

I also don't like to take supplements every day. I mix them up. I generally take 2-3 supplements daily at the moment (out of my 5).

I’m TTC so take these hoping they will help with that but currently:

Vitamin C
Vitamin D
Vitamin B6
B100 complex
Zinc
Folic acid

Vitafusion multivitamin - This was the first multivitamin I took starting a few years ago. I don’t know if there’s anything special to them or if it was from the prior lack, but I noticed three weeks into my first bottle that my night vision improved drastically. I don’t take them atm because a lot of it overlaps with a fortified cereal I eat (the cereal meets the daily intake for iron and doesn’t upset my stomach so I grant it priority) but if my eyesight changes I’ll go back to them.

I love taking vitamins and notice a difference in my skin/hair/nails and general health when I don’t take anything. I’m always looking for new ones to try, this is what I currently take every day -

Multivitamin
Vitamin D3 4000 iu
Biotin 10,000 mcg
Marine Collagen 1200mg
Schisandra powder
NAD+ 100mg
Blackcurrant seed oil 500mg

I drink a Berocca when I remember it.

Had very low Vitamin D, even 60,000 IUs didn't do much the first time round, rejigged the diet, took them again, started on the Berocca when they ran out + actually getting some daylight and exercise and I think it's finally made a difference. I might be more conscientious come Autumn, though, usually around the time I start having elderberry in hot drinks.

Schisandra berry is great for TTC, for fertility and for male testosterone/semen production. I read a lot of success stories when I was searching for good prenatal vitamins, so my husband and I both took it daily and I conceived that month, be careful not take it after your ovulation dates as it’s not safe during your pregnancy. Good luck 😊

None at all . I probably should as I'm breastfeeding and it's recommended

My mother used to give me cod liver oil when I was young

Ooh thankyou! If we haven’t conceived this month I will definitely give this a go.
