Yeah she seems pretty isolated, I know she doesn’t share much of her life but hopefully she still gets to visit friends/they visit her…
Yeh I think her friend lottie and her partner moved temporarily near them for a while but decided (unsurprisingly imo) they'd prefer to live in London. She never seems to mention meeting up with anyone near her new home, hopefully she is and just not putting it online I guess

Have you listened to her podcast the one about topic of not wanting to have children, there is a moment when she is saying that she is now frequently alone and with her own thoughts because max is not there...it actually sounds so sad and like heartbroken...same with the new video.
Where is he anyway all the time ? Book touring is not taking so much time, isn't?
often wondered that. unless he has a day job somewhere like London. was this a green card marriage because they're almost never together?
---
I've noticed that Max often seems to be away. She mentions this in her vlogs a lot. I think he spends a lot of time in London. This was even before the book release/tour.

Speaking of Max, did anyone listen to his episode of Desert Island Dishes a few weeks back? He spoke about a relationship he was in when he was 27 - and it sounded like they were planning a whole life together. I mention this because I think a few people have said that he and Venetia weren't together all that long when they got married?

Anyway, it seems like he falls in love pretty quickly. With this other girl, he bumped into her on the street in LA, and said he fell in love at first sight. She was Australian, so weeks later he moved to Australia to be with her. She was five years older than him, owned her own business, and was asking him how he was planning on providing for their future family.

Anyway, somehow in the space of (2?) years this relationship fell apart and he met and married Venetia. Just thought it was interesting as I've never known anything of his background/relationships before.

He said on the podcast that this relationship happened 10 years ago when he was 27, but as far as I know he's 34, so it was more like 7 years, and I think he's been with Venetia for 5 years - maybe 6? I'm actually not sure how long they've been together.
well look at me thinking he was alot younger than her :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Why doesn’t Rosanna have a thread? Is it just me who is obsessed?

Her entire house reno is #gifted.

(sorry… continue please 😞🤣)
Yeah Rosanna crops up on other threads sometimes (mostly Niomi Smart that I’ve seen) but she doesn’t have her own thread as far as I know…can’t say I’m a huge fan of hers tbh…😬

Yeh I agree, especially as her social circle isin london. I don't get where they are but it doesn't seem to be that near her childhood home either?
I’ll bet money it was him that suggested they move to the countryside.

and it’s my guess that he suggested it to isolate her from friends and family. A lonely, insecure wife/meal ticket is less likely to leave him than one surrounded by friends and family who will support her and highlight red flags to her.

he’s hit the absolute jackpot with Venetia. she’d been broken up with and was in a bad place emotionally when they met, so ripe for being love bombed. Not only does he get his U.K. “green card”, but he got exposure to her following which led to his “chef” career, and his relationship with her has the added bonus of huge family wealth.

No way he’s gona let that slip from his grasp.

a loving husband who deeply cared for his wife would not leave her for long stretches of time, in a new place. Any loving husband would be heartbroken to listen to the stuff she’s been posting.

She just doesn't switch off, even.watching a film mainly because the actor is an activist. I also.think if you're so addicted to social media you need to take days off every week this is something you need to look at more than just turning your phone off at weekends

She should just have kids, the planets fucked anyway let's all go down together having a good time! I admire her belief in her cause and what she stands for but not at the cost of her own happiness.

Has she ever said she wants kids? Off topic but I’m on the fence and the state of the planet is a massive con on my list 😂 we might go down having a good time but we’re literally condemning future gens to god knows what. Makes me so scared.

she does seem to have a bit of a martyr syndrome and it’s odd. Like I mentioned before, when she messaged me back it was just odd. She doesn’t seem to enjoy her “activism” at all.

I agree, I think the problem is also now that she is either mInly alone or with max so doesn't really ever step away from it. Which is fine, I do admire her stance against fast fashion etc but she really seems to be running herself into the ground

What did she message back?

I jest of course about the children thing and I understand it's a completely valid reason not to as we have no idea of the future our children will face. I've not watched any of her videos as I don't have time due to my own kids ironically 😅

for her “recipe for disaster” vids, she asked for recommendations on who she should do next, so I commented under suggesting X

she then DM’d be and was pretty abrupt. “X done already. See my reels”

I didn’t respond, but it felt a bit like, chill babes. It almost felt like a command. there was nothing conversational about it. It honestly felt like she was responding out of obligation to keep her engagement up and to make sure her reels got views.

That's very passive aggressive imo. Would be better not to reply at all than say something like that

She just genuinely doesn’t seem to enjoy what she does, especially the social media aspect…it’s almost like she feels obliged to be a fast fashion activist because she bought a few too many things from ASOS back in the day…with all the privilege she has she can probably do anything!

What does he sister do?
The thing is obviously she doesn't need the money, but obviously thisnis a passion thing however she could easily do less than she does/take a back seat and get someone else to handle the social media as it clearly isn't good.for her

I honestly think a lot of rich people feel guilty? Self conscious? about their privilege/wealth. Our society is fairly socialist and at surface level at least, values meritocracy and purposeful work.

100-60 years ago, a woman in Venetia’s position would’ve been quite proud of being a “lady of leisure” and faffing about at home would’ve been a symbol of status. Now it’s pretty derided and scorned at.

a lot of this shame/self consciousness manifests in social warrior behaviour in women, either that or they give up and adopt a hippy, faux bohemian lifestyle. with the guys, they usually become “entrepreneurs” and cash in on their parents connections/wealth until their business endeavour fails a couple of years later and they move into the next “project”. I know so many of these type of people.

It’s like the the more privileged they are, the more they need to overcompensate. The more they need to show they have purpose. Some people choose slavery and anti-colonialism a la Laura Trevelyan. Some choose environmental/humanitarian activism like Venetia.

I knew the daughter of Jeremy Lascelles, Amy, through an ex boyfriend. She’s 50th in line to the throne but has never really pursued a proper job, has hardly any money and used to have a completely smashed up iPhone because she couldn’t afford a new one. She’s been a PT I think, then turned to making (ridiculous) crystal jewellery.. she didn’t make any money and her boyfriend basically bankrolled her. Her parents bought her and her sister a holiday home in Cornwall that provided most of her income through renting. To legitimise basically faffing her way through life, she adopted this fake hippy, carefree lifestyle (she was in the documentary Prof Green did a few years ago talking about how harmless weed was). It’s all a total act to fool herself that she isn’t entitled, relying on her boyfriend and family wealth and to pretend she isn’t totally lazy.

At the end of the day, they are all just faffing about at home and not pursuing any sort of meaningful career. It’s a way to legitimise faffing about at home without being called out for being lazy. Venetia might post a tit ton and turn up to the occasional protest, but at the end of the day her content consisted of selfies, chatting aloud to herself via her podcast and making coffee in her expensive machine in her huge London flat/now huge country home.

she’s miserable because she has no real purpose in life. The fast fashion cause is great but, I suspect it’s not one she feels as deeply passionate about as she makes out. There are a ton of charities she could work for (voluntarily), and a lot of meaningful lobbying she could do behind the scenes. But that work is long, boring and not glamorous enough for insta.

long time lurker on this thread but just wanted to say I totally agree with everything you said here!

I think she’s probably a nice person irl & I find the whole Max situation worrying… but every time I see her stories, I find myself wondering about her passion for the cause. I would likely post about going out for nice dinners/on trips too if I was rich, don’t get me wrong. But as someone with a hell of a lot of free time from not working a regular job, she could easily volunteer several times a week somewhere like a charity shop, sorting through donations or merchandising stock. I guess a lot of anti fast fashion influencers prefer to stick to podcasting/content creation & doing collabs with luxury ethical brands because it doesn’t involve getting their hands dirty 🤣
