I think she's raised very sheltered, hence the lack of diversity and her not being street wise at all. I hope she finally gets an education.

Why does she need to write BRAZILIAN like that..... like jade, stop making everything about where people are from! It’s very inappropriate in my opinion, she constantly mentions her flat mates are BRAZILIAN, gets herself a Brazilian swimming cap....

The way she talked about taking her BRAZILIAN friend swimming like he’s her pet or something, lol. She needs to give it a rest.

She must sooo be draining to be around. Wonder if she's actually as ridiculous as she portrays on social media or she's just playing it up bc she feels such an urge to cover up her own insecurities and prove how amazing her life is even though she's wasting her money and she probably secretly knows it. Yawn.

I go to a complete normal UK uni and there's so much international and EU students around. Most of my flatmates are not from UK for example. Idk why Jade makes it seem like something super special. This is 2020 and globalisation has been a thing for quite a while.

She's back at uni now at least so we might get some more! Can't wait to see how they make History 101 sound heartless and businessy
As a history major I’m very interested to see what she would study in history 101. Normally intro courses are focused more on a particular era, even if still broad, like ‘the world since World War II’ etc. I’m going to lose it if she acts as if she’s learning a ~new~ and superior way to study history by learning how to write or analyse history. Traditional universities do this! and at some point you do need to learn about actual events that happened and not just the critical analysis component. But if that quora poster is anything to go by she’ll have to teach the actual history to herself 😂. You’re still rote learning lol just in your own time. I wonder if Minerva will tell them traditional unis just rote learn historical timelines. How can you learn about themes or concepts within an event without learning and critically examining the event itself?

Jade grew up in a fairly diverse area. Maidenhead isn't the nicest, or the whitest (for want of a better phrase). Diversity should not be new to her unless her parents were the kind who only took her into Windsor to shop and socialise with the real middle class they deemed appropriate.

exactly, if she went to any UK uni it would easily be more international and diverse (not just manifesting vegans) than minerva. I was in halls for my final year a decade ago and it was half british and half overseas students in my flat

yeah i didn;t get this, isn't "101" as they seem to always use in the US ( I am basing this on tv shows, sorry if in wrong!) a really basic overview/beginners course? like what would be... gcse, or less? how can you study thousands of years in such a basic way? I mean... does "history" now mean 9/11, world war 1, the war of the roses? how in any sense could you study such a basic course in history?!?!?!?! Even if it was 20th century history it would be a reach to get a basic grasp, but it would be somehow more viable....the more i see about this course the more absurd it is

Her shock and forced excitement at diversity makes me uncomfortable. She acts as if her British white existence is the ultimate norm so any addition to that must be something "exotic". I don't think any of her flatmates or friends lose their chill over her being British.

I know here in the UK, 101 is usually the introductory course, so a lot of the theory you probably need to know for the rest of your degree, or the important debates in the field. Not really sure how you'd run a history 101 unless each week was a quick look at one period of history?

yeh exactly! all their courses sound so vague imo

Guys I used History 101 as a completely stupid example based on the type of things they seem to study-they turned English Literature into some stupid corporate sounding thing instead of just calling it English Lit. Idk if she's even studying history this year, it was just a made up example.
