She probably studies those 3 modules intensively for one semester, takes examinations on them, and then moves onto new modules next semester. I take 6 modules for my whole year at uni, for example, but we only take them all at once/they only span the whole year because I don't get examined in any of them until the end of the year.

The descriptions of the modules make them seem like they could be taken in a week. The content seems like pretty basic stuff considering it’s meant to be degree level work. My uni degree was similar to yours, we had 120 credits per year, 60 for each semester, which could be made up of 4 x 15 credit modules or 2 x 15 credit and 1 x 30 credit. I understand having 3 modules but it’s the content of the modules at Minerva that is concerning- none of it seems like stuff you could study “intensively”

The description of every single course sounds the same? Weird corporate jargon about 'problem solving' and 'achieving objectives', zero reading lists, a tit tonne of buzzwords..

In my mind's eye I picture Minerva academics meetings where they hold hands round the huge oval table and say 'we manifest our relatively intelligent students not seeing through this bullshit'

Jade grew up in a fairly diverse area. Maidenhead isn't the nicest, or the whitest (for want of a better phrase). Diversity should not be new to her unless her parents were the kind who only took her into Windsor to shop and socialise with the real middle class they deemed appropriate.
Theresa May would be her MP. That says enough really 😂

Yeah the 'active learning' they do is just...every university. They have to read things before class and be ready to discuss it or be tested on it. That's what you do in every seminar at every university ever.

Also, she's working out in her $150 shirt.

also... there is not really a concept such as "passive learning"? you cannot learn by being passive and unthinking surely!?

To be fair, 'active learning' is a real pedagogy that's used. Passive learning would be being talked at during a lecture/class and not really taking it in. Active learning is actively taking part in the learning process and using initiative to learn yourself. Almost every university has been practising active learning for at least a few decades.

I love the way she's clutching at straws trying to make out like her uni experience is so unique when in reality she'd be getting a better education at any crappy uni in the UK. Daddy is forking out for GCSE level classes.

God as a teacher I should know this! thank you! I do still think it is a misleading term though, you cannot just sit passively and hope to learn, you need to write notes etc

I am always so curious what her friends really think of her course

There's a joke in there somewhere about a Brazilian wax but I'm too tired to dig it out.

She's exhausting. I am genuinely shocked how terribly their education schedules and structures are managed. Stuff the kids in tiny rooms with three other students, throw them ridiculous online classes at the crack of dawn or middle of the night, rip them off their money and convince them to be enthusiastic about it all. Unbelievable.

She responded to a different comment saying she's doing it for SEO, which seems like a huge bullshit excuse.
