Have there been any other racist incidents appart from using people as props ?

For people outside of the UK (as I am) all this exposition seems outstanding. Especially if you don’t know how problematic daily mail is .

Where I live they even use DM fake stories as news ..

I think they’ll love her in the US

In one of her first videos about Minerva talking about diversity, she said something along the lines of “there’s even people from Africa there” in a really condescending tone. She claimed it was to emphasise the diversity of students at the uni but it came across like she meant people from Africa aren’t as smart, so it was shocking that they would be at Minerva.

about the daily mail and the times, she’s not picking the best news platforms to put her message out there. But then again her “brand” does come across as middle class, Tory and a awful superiority complex.

I think her Africa comment also went further by implying that everyone from Africa is poor 🤦🏼‍♀️

I only watched a few of her minerva vlogs a while back before I totally lost interest, but that comment was what really turned me off, like can this girl be more tone deaf and underhandedly offensive? Also she definitely seemed to fetishize how diverse it is with constantly pointing out how many different nationalities there were and how unique of an experience it is despite most physical universities (at least the one I went to) having a big international population, it certainly isn’t something to brag about or something that makes it special. People are people, regardless. I think she just grew up very sheltered.

Yeh her description of how different Minerva is (so diverse, so much work! ) for me just sounded like any british uni? I’m unsure who she is trying to convince this was a good choice, us or herself?

So jade is on the Times promoting the scamiversity. Thoughts ?
Yeah, seen that. I don't think Minerva is a scam, per se, I just think she would have been better doing the Open Uni and travelling. And then, with that in mind, I think it's really really weird using one of your students to promote what is essentially very overpriced online learning.

Also I don't know if you have seen her last instagram post before she deleted it, but she was basically breaking social distancing to swim near her friend and in the description all she wrote meant basically "It was so fun, I broke social distancing and I have no excuse for it, but you should not do it!" and I mean, kind of hypocritical of her to say that she can have fun and break the law, but everybody else should not, like does she have some kind of pass because she is an influencer or what? And she also set a bad example for all the people who look up to her and follow her... I don't know if she's actually in bad faith or if she's just so so so immature.

Sorry for the english, not my first language!

Hello! I used to watch Jade quite a lot, and I really enjoyed the majority of her study related content when she was doing her A-Levels, but she became insufferable during her gap year and subsequently when she joined Minerva (which absolutely feels like a scam, I won't lie, but I've seen someone say their friend has done well for themselves so perhaps it isn't as bad as first imagined). Her dad being a part of Juice Plus definitely explains why she has such a 'You can do anything you put your mind to attitude' which can be really great, I know I've found it useful at times, but obviously she fails to mention that you can also do wonderful things when you're exploiting people. She just seems like a really delusional, privileged white saviour who acts like she is a fountain of knowledge for all things.. does that make sense? She acts like she knows everything about the BLM movement, revision techniques and general injustices, when she is very obviously just a white saviour. I find the fake positivism really draining and it just makes me think that she is actually really uneducated on serious topics, but knows she needs to speak on them because she is in the public eye

Completely agree with you and I used to be the same. What I also find odd about Minerva is that she was saying that people who have graduated from there before have then gone to uni and studied law and medicine. Why would you go to Minerva to then have to still go to uni to study whatever it is you want to do. The whole point usually is that you go to uni to specialise in the first place!

I guarantee she'll finish Minerva and then go to university in the UK as she knows it'll be hard to get a job with a degree from a university that doesn't make sense

In the US you actually have to go to uni for 4 years before you can apply to Med or Law school!

i don't think this applies to international students.
I know several people from the EU that went to study law in the US at age 18, fresh out of high school

Her story time videos are so over-exaggerated... she met a stoner who has the same philosophical beliefs as her at a festival. Then she was FRAMED for drug dealing- oh wait, someone kicked drugs over at her but the police saw it happen so nothing came of it. That's not really being framed is it?
Also her story time about the creepy guy at the hostel... basically he asked her about self and said hello to her in the kitchen the next day? I was expecting her to say he harassed her further but that was literally it?! She must be running low on content ideas.

I’ve said it on other threads, but lockdown without people being able to go out, travel etc has really shown which you tubers just have no imagination/creativity . It’s easy to make content ina new city, meeting new people, working etc but now people have to create their own content w lot are failing imo

I never get angry lmao how can she consistently look down upon and belittle orthodox education since attending Minerva and not shut up about the ~diversity~ and ~cultures~ she's becoming woke about yet she cannot even understand her privilege and the political issues within her OWN country. How can she say 'chav' (which is a slur in its own right) in such a derogatory way and look her nose down as she said it?! Completely gone off her now. She's fake asf

I thought it was really irresponsible for her to say it was "okay" and "safe" because she got good vibes from him.

Depends what country you're talking about. In the US and somewhat in Aus it's common to do a bachelor's degree first and then specialise. I thought I wanted to do law but how can anyone at 18 truly know what they want to do so I did a BA and am now finishing my law (masters) degree. Learnt great skills from the BA and would 100% do the same again if I had to make the choice again.
