Such a man of integrity is our man Kier. Accept when he helped hate preacher Abu Qatada fight his deportarion in court. Do you agree with Abu Qatadas views? Kier certainly thought they were ok.

Yes. I've read many things about Kier Starmer to know he is not to be trusted and will do this country more harm then good.
The cab rank rule is a bedrock obligation for the independent referral Bar. The rule means that barristers cannot discriminate between clients, and that they must take on any case provided that it is within their competence and they are available and appropriately remunerated.

The cab rank rule promotes access to justice. It means that clients will not be deprived of the advocate of their choice because the client or the client’s cause could be seen as objectionable or unpopular. People with unpopular causes or accused of serious offences do not need the additional challenge of having first to persuade a lawyer to take them on.

Barristers do not choose their clients, nor do they associate themselves with their clients’ opinions or behaviour by virtue of representing them.

Thing is with Farage, he has picked a seat which covers Jaywick - one of, if not the, most deprived areas in the UK. People there have felt abandoned by both sides of the political spectrum. There is little investment, high rates of unemployment, lack of opportunities etc etc. The likes of Farage comes in and tells these people that "hey, you're in this position because immigrants, because Europe etc.. but don't worry, I understand you better than all of those other politicians. I drink in the local wetherspoons, I'm just a normal guy. Down with the establishment! I will give you hope. I'll make Clacton great again etc etc". He'll speak to residents, find a scapegoat to cause division, gaslight them all into thinking that the situation is 100000% worse than it is and that HE the great messiah Nigel Farage, is the only one who can fix everything and make everything better. Combine the rhetoric with his "celebrity" status and before you know it, those disenfranchised voters feel hope, feel listened to and will turn out and vote for him. When in reality he'll deliver none of his promises. If he is elected he wont turn up after the first day. He'll just cash his paycheck and go to the USA to lick Trump's a. Meanwhile in Jaywick, life carries on as before.

Such a man of integrity is our man Kier. Accept when he helped hate preacher Abu Qatada fight his deportarion in court. Do you agree with Abu Qatadas views? Kier certainly thought they were ok.
You know Barristers work on a cab rank system right? They don't choose who to represent - if they're next in the line they get the next case in the queue. They can't refuse to represent someone either.

ETA @judgejohndeed and @HelloStereo beat me to it!

So many people were fed that lie and still believe it to this day.

The same people who thought we'd get £350million a week to fund the NHS if we left the EU I bet 🤪
It suits them to ignore the truth. As DPP it was his job to run the CPS, not get involved in the prosecution of cases. Each area has a Chief Crown Prosecutor who makes any final decisions on problematic cases but the reviewing lawyer on the case would make the initial call. Two witnesses dropped out and it was felt that they would struggle to get a verdict without their testimony. Absolutely nothing to do with Starmer but the truth doesn’t matter to Farage or the people who support him. It is all about smoke and mirrors with these people.
It has been explained countless times how legal representation works. The fact that someone is still trying to turn this into a slur shows how little they have got.
We are about to get rid of one of the most inept, corrupt, self serving governments in history. Anyone who still defends them must be deluded.

I could never do criminal defence work. The idea that people who do must therefore lack integrity is laughable to me. It is horrible, thankless, distressing work. To give it your all defending someone you know may well have committed heinous crimes is the ultimate commitment to justice and I can think of few other areas of legal practice where you could say the same. I've had some truly awful clients but it wouldn't even touch the sides of criminal defence.

‘There has been some controversy surrounding the cab rank rule for barristers. The cab rank rule means barristers cannot refuse a case, as long as they are available and fairly renumerated; as a result, some barristers may avoid taking up unfavourable work by simply saying they are too busy to take on the case’

Could have said he was too busy. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Man of the people indeed. If he somehow wins in Clacton I bet he'll show up for them as much as he showed up for meetings while he was MEP. Or how he stuck up for the UK fishing industry by attending one of 42 meetings while a member of the European Parliament Fisheries Committee.

We are not the ones shouting be kind every two minutes.
How many times have you seen someone say "be kind" on this thread?

That's the irony, you lot aren't very kind to the people that don't fit your agenda.

He has woken you lot up today hasn't he. You all seem a little spooked by his announcement 😂😂

I have no interest in being kind to far right wingers who are just nasty rather than stupid. The stupid ones, I have sympathy for at least.

What is there to be spooked by? It's hilarious that he thinks he has the skills to lead a serious party, it's also good generally because it may well split the right wing vote and given how many leftists don't like Starmer and will be voting Green we need fewer Tory votes - you seem to think he's going to lead some revolution in 2029, I reckon by the looks of him it's more likely he'll have corked it by then tbh..

To be fair - you said it first.

Noone here is being unkind - we just don't agree with you. If we are upsetting you so much that you're telling us to "#BEKIND" then pop us on ignore.
