I remember a report at the time said firefighters were called at 7 PM and an onlooker said she arrived back at between half 8 and 9pm
There’s no excuses for what she did
i wasn’t excusing what she did at all….
it’s despicable what she did
---
Reports that it was the mum that left them all along 😢
those poor boys
it’s heartbreaking
i just can’t comprehend why she thought it was okay to leave them

i always got the impression that the dad wasn’t as hands on as he pretended to be.
if he was then i’m sure mum would’ve asked him to look after the kids to do a shop
says a lot that she went out to do a food shop? and left them but yet dad was none the wiser
such a tragedy those poor boys
If he wasn’t that hands on why did she go on to have another set of twins with him? He could be the shittest dad in the world but it doesn’t mean she has the right to leave her kids alone. Do an online delivery, take them all with you, ask someone to pick you up some bits- there’s a lot of options. I don’t think it’s fair to blame the dad for her poor decision making.

i wasn’t blaming him at all
i didn’t say he made her leave them did i? or say it was her right to just leave them.
i’ve already said what she did was despicable.
i was commenting on the situation as a whole.
just because he may of been hands on at the beginning doesn’t mean he stayed consistent 🤷🏽‍♀️

I think the Mum was using the kids and not letting him see them as he’d left and gone on to have more children elsewhere

I can’t remember the statistic, but the percentage of pregnancies that are accidental/unplanned is absolutely massive. So many people have pregnancy after pregnancy after pregnancy, in and out of relationships, with brand new partners… I guess what I’m saying is: people are feckless and irresponsible.

I mean at the time of the fire, didn’t the father already have a baby or two with his new partner?

Well two educated doctors left their 3 children alone and thought that was okay so who knows what goes on in the heads of neglectful parents. They never faced any punishment and people still defend their actions.

how have you come to that conclusion 🥴
many men will set up happy families with a new partner forgetting the other kids they have without a second thought.
why has it always got to be the mum using the kids as a weapon?

Just goes to show the massive class issue we have, doesn’t it. Both neglectful parenting and only 1 more than likely ending up in prison

Those poor boys must’ve been so scared, I can’t even imagine. I don’t also agree with the dad should’ve been called to have the kids. When I was on my own with my eldest, I made sure we had the right amount of food in or she was brought with me to the shops. I would never have called her dad to sit with her? Theres a newsagent a stones throw. She didn’t need to be in a huge supermarket

She was going to court today to give her plea I think I read - does anyone know if she’s plead guilty or not guilty? I’m hoping this case is covered by the press

Edit: Ignore that… it’s been reported today that a plea and trial preparation meeting will be held on 8th Jan. They’re certainly dragging this out

Seems like she doesn’t give a tit 💔

That always bothers me. The McCanns should have been done for child neglect.

On this case, coverage from the time seemed to indicate that the dad was involved in their lives, if I remember correctly?

My mother was often short of people to mind me and my siblings when we were kids. We had no family nearby and wouldn't have been close with neighbours. She just took us with her, or if there was an emergency a friend would come over. We were never left alone

Was she really in the shop, or out socialising?

There was a poster earlier in the thread who lived on the same road and alluded to there being more to the case (i.e. info that makes the mum look even worse)

This is obviously hearsay, but I heard that she was in a pub. 2 hours (+) going to the shops? Definitely not

Agree I think there's more to this

If its manslaughter then the fire must have been determined to be an accident and not malicious

I wonder if it will come out in the court case or if they won’t say anything to protect her…

Yeh I don't get how you could spend hours in a supermarket generally, let alone when you know your children are alone at home

Urgh this case has been on my mind for awhile as it’s quite local to me. I wondered why it all dropped off the radar so quickly. Those poor poor boys.
