A food bank in Cork city has registered almost as many new clients in the first six months of the year as it did for all of last year as the cost-of-living crisis deepens.

First time posting here. I have to weigh in about this lady. I listened to the interview, she spoke with PJ and she was very repetitive. She kept saying ‘ya a ward full of men PJ, a ward full of men’ one agenda with the interview and that was to gain attention. We’ve all been there with A&E and hospitals but to go on and complain about the ward being full of men was utterly ridiculous and petty. You are not examined in full view of the other patients on the wards and she was making it sound like there were no curtains to be pulled in the ward. I mean should we all ring PJ when we feel like it.

Tbh I believe her when she says there’s no contact at all and I’d say the twins haven’t an iota of who he is. Why is it so hard for some people to believe that some men just get up and leave and don’t bother to have any contact and then feel they can walk back into their kids lives on their own terms whenever suits. It actually annoys me that this topic goes around in circles so often but I’ve no doubt in my mind he is in Australia without a care in the world and his kids are an afterthought and a stop off among many during his visit home. I’m sure he’ll take loads of photos and plaster them all over his Facebook for the next few years to make him look like dad of the year. Sure the baby ones he is currently using aren’t going to last forever.

Why does everything have to be an emergency, her mam was bouncing around the hospital when Julie went to see her. More like they found an infection, took her in and waited for availability in theatre to sort it out. Dramatic much!

Why is everyone assuming he has zero contact with the twins, that he doesn't pay maintenance, that his family have no contact...because Julie says so?? Seriously??

Julie has been trying the mourn porn area of engagement since her dad died. The twins were 3+ when he passed. I'm sorry to say, but they have moved on, they are not grieving for him, and that's not me being cruel saying that, it's just a fact that younger kids this age who experience the death of a person close to them will move on quickly. They know photos of him, but feelings and memories are faded now.

So Julie now moves on the the next best thing. The absent friend from Oz. Her tears are her own, still burning a candle for him, those tears are not for her children. But she's making out it about their heartbreak.

No doubt we will have to up engagement now over the coming week when daddy will be going back to Oz, she will be weeping over the kids loss of a father figure.....wait and see.
