I’ve been rereading the first thread and saw a documentary called ‘Ghosts on the underground’ mentioned a few times. I watched it on YouTube and it’s so interesting! Very creepy!

Going to check that out. It reminds me of something strange that happened to me at Bank tube station. This was during the day - mid-morning and I was walking down a lotunnel towards the Waterloo & City line platform. It was strangely quiet, and I heard footsteps behind me and as I had a suitcase I moved to the side in case someone wanted to get past in a hurry. No one overtook me so I turned around and there was no one behind me.

When I turned back round someone had appeared in the tunnel in front of me seemingly out of nowhere. A woman dressed in white. She walked past me and I carried on walking. Something made me turn back after 5 seconds or so and she’d completely disappeared. She hadn’t been walking quickly, so unless she really sped up (basically to a jog) she’d still have been in the tunnel.

The sound may have behaved strangely with the footsteps but if they’d have been coming from in front of me I’d have seen the woman as she’d have been facing me. Just felt odd.

I've just found this thread and started from the beginning, thank you al for your stories.

I have one - a friend I met as a regular in a pub I went to, he was late 80s a few years ago. He told me that he'd been visited by a spirit, while at a brothel in which he later (he said) realised he'd slept with an underage girl. He was visited that night and told in no uncertain terms that he'd reach a nasty end if he didn't change. I was disgusted by this story obviously, but also he was inconsolable about it and the message he'd been sent. It was like he knew what he'd done was awful, and was terrified in these later years that if he didn't acknowledge it he'd be a true ghost.

That’s really creepy!
I believe from what I’ve read they found loads of mass graves when they we’re building the underground, and I’ve read (it may have been from thread 1) that there were plague pits around london

I watched these on youtube before & the stories are really good! I have a feeling someone has shared a similar experience about Bank. There is also another show, Secrets of the underground which I think was on the History channel. Not paranormal but it was really spooky seeing disused stations etc

watched the paranormal: series in one go last night (BBC iplayer) one. what was everyone's thoughts? the scientific background of the people living in the house was interesting...I felt like the presenter maybe didn't believe after interviewing the woman but didn't want to say?

Many years ago when my children were little, I would sometimes work night shifts in care homes. I worked for an agency so I’d get sent to various different homes in the area, depending on which were short staffed. There was one home, the building must have been early Victorian, and I spent the spookiest night of my life there. We repeatedly heard footsteps running along the upstairs corridor, while all the staff were downstairs and there was literally no one up there who could walk unaided, let alone run. At break time, another staff member had a nap but I couldn’t sleep so I was reading a magazine…I looked up to see a hooded figure standing over my colleague. It then turned to look at me, and vanished. Then, as dawn approached and the sky began to lighten, I went around opening the curtains in the resident lounges. As a walked towards the door of one room every hair on my body stood on end. I was frozen in the doorway and utterly unable to walk through. I had a horrible feeling of dread. I turned and walked away and went to the staff area where the nurse in charge took one look at me and said “you’ve been in the blue lounge, haven’t you?” I was as white as a sheet. Apparently this was a regular occurrence in that particular room. I went back to the lounge about an hour later and it was absolutely fine, whatever it was had now gone. Some of the residents had stories of ghostly encounters there too - particularly one old lady who often had a man sitting on her bed, as I mentioned earlier there was no one up there who could have walked into her bedroom and all the staff were female.

I only worked at that particular care home on that one night, which was a shame because I rather enjoyed my spooky night there.

This article is about when Siam Eleri lived in a haunted house prior to her making the documentary

I didn't really like it tbh I was expecting more like there wasn't a conclusion at the ending if you know what I mean I think the whole thing creeped sian out but I not sure she believes the original owners
To me it looked like the woman was making it all up maybe for attention like those two girls back in the 70's was it the Enfield House?

Hmmm. I think Sian did a good job, trying not to show bias and giving us a feel of the area for background information. I would have liked to have seen the gravestone dated, but appreciate it was a low budget programme. Ones of that age near me, the inscriptions are hard to make out after years of weathering. This looked like it was done yesterday. No doubt an area with paranormal activity. But I kind of feel the family embellished it somewhat. Very skeptical about the words on the fireplace. Especially after information that came to light near the end. I would be doing all I could not to live there to protect my children if it was that bad. The gentleman living there now doesn't seem overly worried. But it made for an enjoyable cosy afternoon watch on a dreary day.

I think the woman owner was making it it up.

I thought the gravestone looked fake TBH.

Apparently Green Park in London is built on a plague pit. Word is that's why no flowers will grow there.

Whenever I go through to Edinburgh from the north on the train, I always peer closely in the long tunnel before you come out on the tracks alongside Princes Street Gardens before Waverley Station. Underneath the Caledonian Hotel is a disused station with steps up to the hotel. Originally there was an open concourse on the ground level where the arches are now bricked up at the hotel. I always hope that a bit of train lights will give enough light to catch a glimpse or that one day I'll get to see it on Doors Open Day, though whether the rail or hotel people or both will have to arrange it, I don't know.
