I live local to dover Castle. All the tunnels under the castle give me the creeps. The old hospital and the telecommunications area are so spooky

I know somebody who went to a museum that was a real workhouse in the past and when they were walking round felt like that had been living there before when it was the workhouse. Said they felt awful and completely Overcome with emotion. Had to leave and refused to go back in.

He kept darting his eyes around after as well. He’s a weird one. He ‘sees’ things, but doesn’t believe. His mum is always seeing other people, especially in her bedroom. I kind of wish I had the gift as long as they were nice ghosts 😂

My hubby once told me when he went to duxford Air museum he visited the little 9/11 stand where they have an actual piece of the twin towers on display, he was taking in all in when all of a sudden he said he was overcome with emotion, now he is not on outwardly emotional person at all I even joke with him about not having any emotion in his body at all
I know its not necessarily paranormal but there is obviously a lot of emotion around the time of that awful event and that day he really felt it, I truly believe belongings and places have residual energy that sometimes we can pick up on
This is the exact same feeling my husband & I felt when we were at the actual 9/11 museum which is under where the twin towers were. My husband isn’t an emotional person either and we just felt so emotional the minute we walked in. As soon as we left the building, we were fine.

It's odd how the mind or rationalising works.
When I was younger, up to 20 I had quite a few ghostly encounters (a couple with witnesses too!) did ouija boards, I would have deja vus and dreams come true alot.
But I blanked out those feelings, and although I know I had ghostly experiences I've "cancelled" them out because my rational side want further/real proof/why don't more people report visions. Is it age, cynicism or modern life taking away those senses?

(Edited to add I don't want to see any more ghosts thank you very much!)

I had a similar feeling in a museum in Budapest. It had underground cells and the feeling was so overwhelming and oppressive I had to get out. The rest of the museum was fine, it was just that one bit.

Oh I went there rather recently! Weirdly if you're in a group I don't think it's that bad....

Has anyone ever been to Brooklands museum in Surrey?

we went a few years ago when my little girl was a baby. She screamed the whole day, so I left the hubby to looks at all the planes, and took her for a walk in the pram around the old racing track. Immediately wished I hadn’t gone by myself as there was no one else there, and I just got that creepy feeling where you just want to make a run for it but obv couldn’t run that fast with the pram 😂 I originally thought it was just because I was by myself and it was so far away from the museum but I found out afterwards thered been sightings and odd things happen there!

Yes! The gas chamber at Austwich was so oppressive, it felt like the walls had held onto everything that happened there
There's quite a few tales of the area around Bergen Belsen in this thread from an Army forum.

My mum and aunt went on holiday to Turkey in the early 2000s and visited a ruined Greek church in an abandoned village. They told me they felt such a "doomed" kind of feeling inside, incredibly sorrowful and painful, and my mum just couldn't stop crying until they left the abandoned village. They said the atmosphere was unreal.

Did she know why the village was abandoned? or was it just abandoned through age?

I bet Hashima Island in Japan is one of the creepiest places. I'd wager there's a lot of residual energy there.

It was abandoned in the 1920s i think. There was a massacre in the aftermath of the fall of the Ottoman Empire: there was a genocide of local Christian populations (Greeks, Armenians, Assyrians).

I stayed at the Congress Plaza Hotel in Chicago in 2015, apparently it’s one of the most haunted places in Chicago. We didn’t experience anything while we were there but it has a really creepy vibe to it, there is a room boarded off in level 4 and the stairs and hallways seem like something out of the movie, The Shining. Has anyone else been there?

I had a weird thing at home the other day
House is 1999 vintage, we’ve lived here for 17ish years and never witnesses anything, but FIL died here, very suddenly, last year

I was in the kitchen, alone in the house and I saw a figure walk across the hall, towards the lounge from the corner of my eye. I jumped and went to investigate, but there was nothing at all 👀👀

I've been reading this thread with fascination, first time poster here. I'll try and explain this clearly. It's not a ghost story. Just 2 things I remember from being very young. I have an extremely good memory btw. I was born in the East end of London early 70's and close to where my nan lived is a row of old houses/flats with gated access, we used to walk past often. It's on the main rd and I said to my nan when I was older "where did the horses go that used to be there?" She said there never were horses, I asked my mum and she replied the same. I can vividly remember the horses coming to the edge of the wall.

Another time my mum and me and my brother and sister were walking home late at night down a really long rd where I grew up and there were 2 men on the other side, and I became hysterical saying they're going to kill us, I was in a right state, I do kind of remember this. The 2 men shouted over to my mum that they could see what a state I was in and they would hurry up and walk in front to calm me down. They said they'd never seen a kid do this. I was about 6. My siblings were ok, just me. My mum said the things I said weren't normal for a kid my age. I've always been highly strung and scared of everything 🤣

Sorry to ramble and these probably mean nothing 🤣 I do have I suppose a ghost story but that involves my daughter when she was a toddler.

Maybe it was something that happened in your past life?

Also has anyone on here listened to the morbid podcast, they do a listener tales and one of them was someone talking about their past life!

When I was a kid my best friend didn't like staying over in my room, she said she saw things being thrown around in the night. I never saw anything like that myself. One morning I woke up and several objects were stuck to one of my walls, I told my parents but I don't think they believed me at the time. Then one night my dad and I were downstairs and we heard someone running about in my room, he told me to stay there and he went upstairs, he assumed someone had broken in somehow. There was no one there, he was baffled. My dad was a Reverend and I asked him to bless the room. Anyway, he did and it all stopped after that. Nothing ever again.

I vaguely remember a young girl with long hair standing near my bed once too, but I didn't feel scared.

I've seen figures before and heard noises many times in empty places while I've worked in theatres through the years. If I can remember anything else interesting I'll post again!

The story about my daughter is this....when she was 20 months old, her cousin was killed in a tragic accident at work. He was only 17 😥 forward a few months and she used to have a little tikes boat that we kept in the dining area. One day she sitting in the boat and I heard her talking away to herself and i asked who was she talking to and she said "the man". I naturally being me s##t myself. She used to say this a lot.

One day we was at her aunts house, the mum of the cousin, and she wore a hologram pendant with the face of her son. My daughter was on her lap and pointed to the photo and said "the man". It absolutely petrified me. At the same time my daughter also had a little keyboard and one night it started tinkering away on its own. I was so scared I actually picked my daughter up and waited outside till her dad got home. He checked it and said maybe it was the batteries but there was absolutely no reason why it happened.
