When we were kids, we broke into an abandoned house - it was a brilliant den.
In the house we found a ring hidden up the chimney, which we took.
There was a bit of an argument over who would keep the ring.
The kid who won took the ring home.
For the next week or so, this kid started telling us about strange things happening things moving about in the house etc.
The culmination of which was a ghostly woman appearing at the end of their bed at night.
The ghostly woman continued to appear - standing at the end of the bed, pointing at them, and saying "return it."
So we took the ring back to the house and re-hid it in the chimney.... and the visitations stopped.

About ten years later the house was renovated, and sold.
I often wonder if the ring is still there.

Going back to ouija ...

Before I was born my mum would regularly have some have friends over and they would do things like ouija and seances. My dad totally disapproved and would go out. I was really surprised when I heard this as my mum was a very religious person so I'm not sure why she dabbled.
One night apparently it all went 'wrong' and one woman was badly effected and they ever did again. I never got the full story of my mum.

I’ve always been curious about ouija and wanted to try one! However my uncle apparently tried on years and years ago as a teenager and the glass shot off the table, smashed and cut his leg. Not sure how true this is but I remember bringing the subject of using a ouija up and they went pale.

Ghosts and the paranormal scare the absolute life out of me but I'm also very curious. A few things have happened to people I know and on a smaller scale with myself. When my grandfather passed away I used to talk to him out of my bedroom window and hope he would come to me but he never did (I was about 6) two people have died around my birthday which freaks me out a bit. Both were family members.

I used to go to see mediums but then one time the guy pulled me to one side (I was in my early twenties) and he told me to stop wasting my money because I'm too emotional and they won't come to me.

We have had some weird stuff happen at my parents house like things disappearing and the TV volume turning itself up which used to freak me out loads. There's a few specific stories but I don't feel comfortable sharing them as they are very personal to myself and my family but the one in particular made a sceptic in my family fully believe. It's a case of "I don't believe it til I see it" and then they did and it was pretty emotional and really affected that person. All of the encounters I've had (which haven't been many at all) have been positive experiences, not at all scary. They've been family members basically either telling us they are okay or that we will be okay. I would be absolutely terrified if I had a bad experience. I know someone who has some really horrible things come to them and it sounds horrific. I don't think I would cope with it at all.

I've loved reading everyone's stories on this thread, so interesting to see the different experiences. The only experience I had that was directly for me was so comforting at a time in my life when I really needed it and everything worked out as I wanted it to and I felt like a family member or guardian angel type of being really guided me and helped me in that moment and I'm so thankful to them.

Another one I've remembered, I was at a paranormal night at a haunted castle and we were in a bedroom that was frequented by the ghost of an old man. Apparently he didn't like women and was very 'old fashioned', didn't like it if women talked about going out to work etc. I mentioned that it was the 21st century and things had moved on since his day.

Suddenly the room filled with what we could only describe as 'old man smell'. He was definitely there and making his thoughts known on the matter!!!

I had a weird experience at a paranormal/ghost hunting night once. It was in a building that had been used for a few different things over the years including an outdoor recreation centre where groups like the Scouts would do weekend trips. Anyway my group were in one of the dormitories, I started to feel dizzy and I said to my brother I need to sit down so I sat on one the bunk beds. The guide with us asked if I was ok and when I said I just came over really faint a couple of others said yeah me too. He asked if anyone else felt anything and one of the guys said I just feel really angry for some reason, this was when my brother also said he had this feeling. The guide went on to explain that a man who had been there with a group of kids had been accused of acting inappropriately towards a couple of boys and unable to cope with the accusations he had hung himself in that room. Apparently it’s not uncommon for people to feel angry or unwell when in that particular part of the building, it was really bizarre.

It is bizarre how we can pick up on energies isn't it? I recently went to visit a national trust property, and while we were being given the tour and told about how the house was built, how much it cost etc etc, I could feel myself getting more and more angry and agitated. After the tour my friend asked me if I was ok and I replied "no i'm f**king well not. I am absolutely f**king outraged that people were living in this kind of wealth when the average man on the street at the time was struggling to keep a family fed" I can't describe adequately in words just how angry I felt. 😂 It was a reaction that is completely out of character for me, I absolutely love history and usually detached enough not to feel emotions for the living situations of 200/300 years ago. So I have no doubt I was picking up on the energy of someone from the past.

Another strange thing that happened - I was out shopping at the local mall one day and spent the last of my money on a rather expensive fountain in Boots (I have extremely pale skin and it's SUPER hard to match me). I put all my Shopping bags down on the floor for a moment before picking them up and heading out.

Just then i heard someone behind me say my name. I thought it was my husband catching up with me, so I stopped and looked around but there was no one there. I walked on. Again, someone said my name, right in my ear. I stopped, looked around. No one. Again I walked on.

AGAIN my name was called, more frustrated this time. I stopped dead, looked all around. Nobody.

I found a seat and decided to sit and wait for my husband. 'I'll check out my new foundation while I wait" I thought to myself. But the bag was nowhere to be found!!! Oh god!!! Had I lost it already? I retraced my steps and went back to Boots - there it was on the floor where I had set all my bags down. 🤦‍♀️

So just who was trying to warn me?

I had a similar one to that as well. I was driving up a steep hill on my way to work about 5/6ish in the morning. It was early summer so the sun was really bright coming over the top of the hill. I live in the countryside & the rural roads are pretty much dead most of the time, never mind at that time of day!) Anywho, out of no where I had this 'voice' in my head telling me to keep as far in to the left as I could. Almost immediately this motorbike appeared over the hill & came speeding past me in the centre of the road, narrowly missing me. Had I been in the usual position on the road, it would have been a head on.

I wonder who was warning me as well. I keep trying to think if it was an actual voice or whether it was more of an inner knowing, if that makes sense? If anyone listens to Jim Harolds Paranormal Podcast, he had a really fascinating guy on this week talking about Time travel. Is time linear, multiple timelines etc etc. He talked about situations where something tells you/intuition could actually be your future self warning your present self. It was really interesting & I highly recommend a listen.

I also just noticed autocorrect changed 'foundation' to 'fountain' in the first paragraph 🤣 I may need a lot of slap but not quite a fountains worth

Many years ago I used to work with a Spanish lady, she was lovely. Both her and her husband were heavily into the spiritualist church. She used to say odd things about colleagues, some of these events did happen as she said it would. She told me that something bad was going to happen around me, she didn't understand it, it was all black, fast, a track was involved but all would be okay. A few days later, my dad, a miner, was involved in a roof collapse while down the pit. He was completely buried. Other workers dug with their bare hands to get him out. They got him out on the conveyer belt meant for coal. He did sustain injuries but was alive.
She said my house was a sad one and I'd never be happy there so should move. My husband had left, I thought that was what she was referring to but she said there had been a violent death there. A previous owner had attempted to kill himself there but was hospitalised. He did kill himself later but not in the house.

My husband thought one of the kids were in the garden the other day, so he went to check. He had not long put the train tracks outside for them to play with. There was no one outside but swore he heard the toys being played with 😊

When I was little we went to Weymouth on holiday every year. And when we were on the beach I used to look out on the horizon at the galleon on the water. It was hazy, of course, but clear as day and it didn’t even cross my mind that it wasn’t real- I don’t think I even mentioned it to anyone because there was nothing remarkable about it, I was too little for any sense of historical context and it was just there.
It wasn’t like some novelty cruise it was just a….galleon. This is years before Pirates of the Caribbean, I’d no reason to know what they looked like.
It was only in adulthood that it struck me how strange it was.

Oh I’ve got another!
In my early twenties I found myself a single mother and my parents kindly took myself and my three month old daughter to my dad’s colleagues second home for a week in Devon. She’d inherited it from a family friend.
It was far from fancy, a little cottage that was permanently dark and smelled of damp dog. My three month old baby was transfixed by one corner of the sitting room, that had nothing in particular in it, not even a light. And, if you know babies that age, they don’t focus for long unless they are fascinated.
Anyway, nothing was said by me, mum or dad till we were in the car on the way home and I mentioned the smell in the cottage. They told me that they hadn’t wanted to scare me out of going but the cottage was haunted by the old family friend of my dads colleague- an old man- and his dog.
---
Maybe it was something to do with this...

WOW!
I’ve not read that properly, I’ll do it tomorrow when I’ve got a big screen not my phone but that’s really interesting, thank you!
Obviously I’ll never know what it was but it definitely wasn’t my imagination and I just thought it was a ship on the water.

I love that! I hope when I shuffle off, whoever buys my house is haunted by me and my houseful of cats. In the nicest possible way of course! 😂 Well unless they start remodeling, and then I might have something to say.....😂
