I often wake up at the same time every night. Not always, but it's usually 3am (witching hour) and 6am. Exactly on the hour.

My 7 month old has been up the last 2 nights at 3am on the dot. Been slinking and hiding in bed once I sort him out

It’s quite common in suburban and sparsely populated areas.**
These voices are attributed to the churail or ‘witches’ (albeit not the hocus pocus type associated with western society) they are normally demonic entities who posses people and drive them to madness. They have alluring voices and faces and it’s said if you ever encounter one to turn to the opposite direction, reading prayers for protection completely ignoring their calls.

** that being said, my uncle who lives in east London saw a churail in a river behind his local Tesco after driving home from his night shift 25 years ago. The Tesco was located behind an industrial site with a small one way bridge which allows one car to pass over it at a time. He said he saw a flash of light from the river and he got out of the car and saw the figure of a woman walking on the water beneath him. Naturally he almost shat himself, drove home at the speed of sound to bang on my parents door to tell them about it. His account Was actually printed in the local paper.

Did anyone watch Uncanny last night at 9pm on BBC2? It was quite good, and they were investigating a ghost known as Miss Howard? It's a 3 part series, and next week's episode is about a poltergeist. I believe last night's episode is now on iPlayer.

Not yet but I want it! How you feel about the deck itself is very important IMO and it’s a very personal thing, so everyone will have different ideas, feelings, etc., about different decks. The Rider-Waite deck is a great one to begin with though and there’s a great history connected to it.

They’re lovely aren’t they! I’m definitely drawn to them more than any others I’ve seen but I’ll have a look at the Rider-Waite deck as well.

Not ghost related, but a bit weird I think. So...I have spent the past few days reading this, and the previous thread. I read this comment a few days ago, and it struck me.

A few years ago, I had a vivid dream that felt real. I had this dream a few times where I was living in central London a long time ago (possibly 1700s), I could picture the walk there through the streets and the whole row of houses and where my house was on the left-hand side. I clearly remember walking to my house, and how it looked inside, it was a beautiful row of houses. So, I actually have this thing called Aphantasia (where you can't visualise), but I can dream 'properly', but this I always remembered so clearly.

I have never done this before, as I just considered it a dream but I got on google Maps on Sunday night and took a little street view 'walk' in central London to the spot where I knew I had the dream (in Westminster). I literally gasped as I saw the exact street and the houses, 100% as per my dream - location, look and everything. I decided to google the street name to see some history on it, and this is where it gets weird... the street was owned by this family for hundreds of years from the middle ages. I instantly recognised the surname of the landowners.
I have been doing our family tree for years and have got sooo far back - to the 9th century at some points. Very lucky to get so much info, there is royalty, mistresses, dukes and gentry in there so it had lots of records. Not sure where it all went wrong

Anyway, I went onto my Ancestry account after seeing the name and lo and behold, the family who owned the land / built the street is from my family tree.

My mum is Welsh and we jokingly call her the Welsh witch as she can predict and knows a lot of stuff that is unexplainable. She says she could have 'gone down the path' of seeing stuff but decided not to.

That’s amazing! Have you ever had any psychic experiences or anything before?

I did enjoy Uncanny but they played fast and loose with their investigation. The 2008 blog post by the previous owner contains a lot of the information the team supposedly ‘discovered’.

I was at the theatre yesterday watching Chitty Bang Bang. We had tickets in the centre of the front row, and at one point in the show I felt something land on my head; I immediately put my hand on my head, but there was nothing there and my hair felt normal and dry. The Circle and Boxes were too far away for anything to have been dropped on me, and it fell directly on to the top of my head.

Was it at the Mayflower? I was always told it was haunted when I was a kid.

One of the stories was about a ballerina being killed when her tutu/costume brushed against a hot lamp and set light to her clothes . My Grandmother and Mum told me that one, she was supposed to haunt the backstage area. I did try to research it years ago and certainly didn't find any confirmation.

There was another about a young actor being accidently killed onstage during a fight scene. I know that DID happen but in another theatre.

So I think a lot of tragedies/hauntings that are reported in other places get repeated over the years and being passed down the generations probably end up being told like they happened in local theatres.

It would be interesting to know if the local ghost tours have visited there.

I always feel ill at ease there, that's for sure and the higher up you go, the worse I always felt.

I am now limited to the ground floor because of my mobility. but even as a child going to see a Disney film or panto there (it was The Gaumont then) but I always felt like I needed to keep checking behind me and hated the narrow corridors to get to the Ladies which always scared me.

I'm the same as you nowadays with my mobility, so we always sit in the Stalls. The Mayflower does have a different type of atmosphere the higher up you go though, especially in the Gods.

This is exactly what happened to me 2/3 times when I was late teens, early twenties in my parents old house. Someone sitting on my chest, witch like. I was screaming at the top of my voice, struggling to breath or move… then I’d wake and run into my parents room next door to say sorry for waking them up (as I’d been screaming). They were fast asleep and I hadn’t actually screamed. Terrifying

Freaks me out as I’d never heard of it, knew about them…. To hear other similar stories is 🫣

Yeah I looked it up since, the only ghost that fits that description- wasn’t a rocking chair but just one of those fusty old hotel padded jobs. I’d definitely stay there again, I really liked the character of the place.

There’s a programme on i-Player you all might find interesting - Paranormal: The Girl, the Ghost and the Gravestone. I’ve watched the first episode and enjoying it so far.

Unrelated but anyone watching the fall of the house of usher on Netflix it’s a tv show but is a bit spooky I’m half way through it so far so good

I started watching that but then got confused when it skipped to now. I am watching the new goosebumps series and that is good

Totally agree. I know it sounds naff to say it, but I genuinely think the deck chooses you. One of my favourites I own is the tarot illuminati. I saw a picture of the high priestess card & was obsessed with it to the point I had it as a screen saver on my PC at work. By that point, I was like, yeah, that deck is calling to me......You're right though, the Rider-Waite one is great to begin with. Most of the courses & books that actually make sense tend to use this one so it's easier to follow along.

I've just had a look at the everyday witch ones, they look nice! Might have to *cough cough* treat myself.

Sorry to keep editing, but if anyone is interested in buying these, you can find them for under 8 quid on ali express before you spend a small fortune for them on Amazon!!

Not really a ghost story…but I went to a demonstration of mediumship evening at the town hall recently. Unfortunately the medium was either having a bad night or got very unlucky with all the guesswork as it was a painful 1.5 hours of scrabbling around and no matches for anyone really. My highlight was toward the end she realised she didn’t finish at 8.30 and still had half hour to go and was clearly quite stressed (this but wasn’t a highlight I felt really bad for her and felt she just needed to call it off as it was embarrassing)

Anyway she approached a couple and said “I’m getting a kitchen..:a kitchen with a sink…did you lose anyone with a kitchen? They used to turn the light on in the kitchen if it was dark”. I just thought….I’m not sure I know ANYONE that doesn’t have a kitchen, and who doesn’t turn a light on when it’s dark.

Hahaha this is why I'm scared to go to a medium! It will be so awkward if nothing they say is right
