I'm really grateful that my mum ended up having my daughter last night, as it meant we got to go out for a lovely meal, but I've texted her this morning and apparently she didn't fall asleep until 9 and was up at 6. So now I'm really annoyed that I'm gonna have a grumpy 3 year old all day. This happens every time she stays over at my mum's, it's like my mum just lets her do what she wants but I can't complain to her because she's doing me a favour! I just need to moan to someone

Can you let her have a nap this afternoon just for a hour or so? Is it she’s excited to be at grandmas she doesn’t wanna sleep?

I was soooo nervous all morning like I actually had stomach ache and cos we had an accident before we’d even got to nursery I was even more shook. But I can’t expect him to be “trained” on his first day at without me
I had to go and Get him a new potty and take it to nursery when I picked him up cos theirs is too small. They tried him with the toilet but he prefers a potty for now
Honestly you don’t realise how daunting it is until you start

Mine were a little down for the next day but were fine after. It wasn't too bad. Some calpol in them and they were fine.
Pre warning that ours are one in each arm and one in each leg though.
Some are just 2 in each leg, some 2 in each arm.
But ours have always been 1 in each

Ex nursery assistant - I'd always bin the underwear unless the parents requested they'd be sent home. If it was just a skid mark I'd bag it up and inform the parents at pick up and give them the option to take home, or I'd offer to dispose of it. When my son was potty training I specifically told his nursery not to send home pants he'd had a poo accident in

I know this is a very niche question but has anyone had to deal with having a naughty pet around a toddler? (We have a cat that is very bitey!!). Not sure what the hell to do!

Our cat can be a bit snappy when being annoyed by 2.5 year old… which is fair enough!
I’ve taught her how to stroke him nicely and I’ve told her to leave him alone when I can tell he’s peeved. I will quite often say ‘don’t touch him now’ or ‘he wants to be left alone’. I don’t want her to be scared of him but if I’m honest a few nips have taught her to keep a distance. He’s a silly fluffy pedigree thing though rather than a moggy so he is very tolerant and sticks around even when she’s trying to ride him our normal moggy stays well away from her

Assuming it's not the ice poles, bright red blood is typically caused by a tear in the bowel or hemorrhoids. If the blood was dark red or black, it's come from further up the intestines and could be caused by a number of things.

Thank you; she was definitely constipated and it was hard to pass but no blood on the wipe. She has eaten and drank normally today and her usual self so I’ll see how she is tomorrow.

My 3yo keeps holding in her poo she’s been potty trained for a year so no idea what’s brought it on now. She hasn’t pooped since Monday evening, has had prunes for the past three days and lactulose today. She keeps crossing her legs and standing still to hold it in so I tell her to go to the toilet and she says she doesn’t need a poo

Ring your gp they’ll give her a drink to make her go. My niece ended up going to a&e with constipation loads when she was 3/4 she was scared to poo
It’s Friday now she defo needs to see someone I’d have thought!!

Oh, he definitely would. You probably do more for him than dad. Mine would get cheesy pasta every night and not a bath or bit of fruit in sight

Oh, I know this too well. I split with my eldest dad when she was 1. Dad was always fave until she spent a month away recently on holiday and then realised our house isn’t so bad

thissss I agree. When I be “mean” to my 3.5 year old she wants daddy or grandad, yet she has to be pretty much forced to go to her dads. She realises how better it is at my house even if I am “mean” sometimes when I won’t let her have 10 ice creams for breakfast but I’m the one who does everything with her so she’s gotta like me sometimes she told me the other day I’m her best friend

Do any of you lovely ladies have any views on a couple of compact travel strollers that I’m struggling to decide between? I think I’ve narrowed my choices down to the Kinderkraft Nubi 2 or the Silver Cross Clic 2023. I was interested in the Jet 3 but it just seemed a lot narrower compared to the Clic.

Yesterday toddler gravy hurt her leg having a carry on with her dad. Wouldn't bear weight on it, wanted carried kept saying it was sore and crying. So we took her to A&E. We got seen so quickly which is great....but as soon as we got into the room with the triage nurse she started running around like nothing happened absolutely mortified that we wasted their time

We were in hospital with my 5 year old yesterday. She's drowsy and had a 40+ temp along with other things.

Currently pregnant with baby number 2. For those with two or more kiddos did you buy a present from baby for your other kiddos?

Also, wee man will be almost 3. We need to figure out a new travel system for new wee one as we lost some bits from the one we bought for wee man. Can anyone recommend something that would be suitable for both a newborn and almost 3 year old please?

She’s got blackout blinds, I think it’s the heat. Her room was 25° and the fan just feels like it’s pushing around hot air. We’re getting an air con unit soon, can’t wait!

I was boiling last night too my daughter was at her dads and he said she was surprised she slept till 7 - not a peep all night!! Me on the other hand I was tossing and turning all night

My little not really struggles holding scissors are there any tips to help him with this?? I show him he starts off the same and then takes them out and tries a different way bless him and he gets a bit frustrated

6am isn’t early really . Not at this time of the year. The sun is up at 4am.
no matter what time I put mine to bed in summer he’s always up 6 ish
Winter he’ll sleep in but never summer
not much you can do about it apart from put it up with
From what you’ve told us she does during the week it’s no wonder she’s so tired

we set off to the beach at 750 this morning and went to Blackpool before the temperature got too hot for our dog. Was lovely!!

Her room is pitch black in broad daylight so no idea why she’s up early, I can’t blame it on the light coming through. It’s early for her and she’s a monster by the end of the week. She’s usually 7am and that’s 5 hours of missed sleep by the end of Friday. Maybe cos it’s warmer or the birds are waking her up, I’m roasting some nights and I sleep in my knickers

Ooooooh I’d love to know where you live. I’m about 40 mins from Blackpool, we usually go lytham though!

My toddler currently having a tantrum because we won’t let her wear her dressing gown because it’s 26°

She wanted to sleep with the thermometer last night and went mad when she couldn’t have it under her pillow kids!!!!

How long has it been going on for? Has he had a bad poo and he’s scared of going? Could it be hurting when he poos?

About a week? Started last week at daycare, so I wonder if something happened but the teachers will never say/probably wouldn’t pick up on any small nuances that may cause that.

Sorry I’m sure sleep has been discussed so much already here but I haven’t had the chance to read through.
My son is 19 months old and for the first 9 months his sleep was amazing but now we have some really awful nights where he’ll be awake for hours just crying and nothing helps settle. I’m wondering if we are putting him to bed too early!! I have looked at sleep experts but £300 is so steep. His current routine is around 2 hour nap a day and we put him to bed at 7pm. He does go down really well.
We do a dream feed around 10.30 which did help for a while.
He will either sleep through or wakes in the early hours for around 2 hours.
Should he be going to bed later?
His nap is essential if he doesn’t get a good nap it’s even worse!

Hi all, never commented on this thread but always had a nosy! Does anyone have any recommendations for potty training books, just to give me some ideas? She's been using the potty before bath time, before bedtime and in the morning since just after her 2nd birthday so we are getting there, just need some pointers to get rid of nappies all together. Not in any rush TIA

I like Oh Crap Potty Training. I don’t stick to it 100%, but I always reread it before starting again, and as we go through, it just gives me that wee confidence boost that I need. I think you find your own way and what suits you pretty quickly, though.

Mine has had a wee at nursery today or yesterday that wasn’t an accident. One of the teachers tried all morning and he won’t wee for them

Looking for opinions. So my daughter has caught yet another cough from nursery with a bit of a sniffle. On Monday morning she coughed so much she was sick (mainly looked like mucus but hadn't eaten that day yet),kept her off nursery for the recommended 48hrs but really she was her normal self not long after she was sick. Wednesday back to nursery, but she was sick again at night from coughing, I was bad this time kept her off the Thursday but didn't say she was sick & she went back Friday, again she was fine all day. Last night she was sick three times from coughing, I actually ended up phoning 111 just cos of the bloody cough. Was told it sounded like a respiratory viral thing & it'll be the mucus going down her throat when sleeping that's making her cough & vomit. Again there's been nothing wrong with her since apart from the cough now & again.
What my question is, even though yes she has been sick in the night from coughing there isn't much else wrong with her, would you still send her to her activities & nursery the next day? Her dads like we should just take her cos its not a sickness bug, it's her cough but I'm not sure I fully agree with that. What's your thoughts?
