Have you got a trampoline place near you? There’s quite a few that do toddler sessions during the holidays both weekday and weekends here at least!
No sadly not! Does sound fab though!! I do get it because who wants to work on the weekend, but also it would be nice for there to be some provision for weekend classes

Last time we went to one my kid was being trailed by a toddler who stunk  clearly needed a nappy change butmum and grandma seemed to be taking the day off. Only got checked in on by an older sibling, not fair on either of them.
I know it’s so sad. It happens all too often doesn’t it

Anyone else’s toddler just not up for food in this heat? My 20 month old is already a picky wee guy, hardly eats as it is, but he’s been so bad this week with food. Still drinking plenty of fluids & having his usual breastfeeds.

BIB - I'm saying this with kindness but to a toddler *that* is a massive deal. As a PP said, they have so little control over their lives so they try and control what they can. A good tactic, that works for me, is giving an illusion of choice. Next time take two ice lollies out the freezer and let her "decide" which one she's going to have.

I've also done this with my toddler and shoes if he's refusing to go out in the mornings. Give him the choice of putting on his black or red trainers and all of a sudden he's skipping out the door.

It's hard parenting children especially as you're not used to them. I had to get a student midwife in the hospital to show me how to change Big Biscuit's nappy 🤦‍♀️ I'd recommend Sarah Ockwell-Smith's Gentle Parenting resources. She has a lot of books but puts some content on her website for free. Her explanations really helped me understand my then toddler and got my head round some of the stuff going on. Not saying I agree with everything she says but it was a real 💡moment for me.
I got 3 different ones out the freezer (the only ones she could pick from) and she picked the one she wanted, I just don’t understand why she didn’t just go and get another one like she usually does 😐 it’s an ice lolly, I don’t give a shit if she decides half way through she wants another one, the one she didn’t want half way through went back in the freezer for tomorrow 😂 I like gentle parenting and I follow a girl on tik tok who does it well and I can see why it worka!

Has anyone used an online babysitter service?

We use grandparents for childcare and I'm becoming less keen to use them for "fun" stuff, such as Mr B & I going for a night out. There are local posts on Facebook, mainly teenagers looking for odd jobs. But I feel a bit odd leaving my kids with someone only 10 years older than my eldest. Mr B has found a babysitter website but I wouldn't even use Borrow My Doggy for our dog 😂

So yes, has anyone used such a service and is there a UK website you would recommend?

What age is he? We use the type is scissors below and it helps that they spring back. I never fuss if they have their fingers and thumb in the wrong section, and they almost always hold them upside down to begin with. Just lots and lots of practise will see it right. The scissors below we would use successfully from age 2 - depending on your definition of success that is! They cut with them, but like I said they take time to work out the kinks. Non sharp play dough scissors can be a good intro as well

It would be a no for me. Nothing to do with their relationship dynamics, simply because it hasn’t happened before and your son may not be comfortable all day.
I have got similar scissors to those. They came with a crafts set. He is 4!! But I don’t think nursery have shown him. He was putting one finger in on each hand and doing it that way 😭 bless him I showed him woth one hand and he cut one piece and then had enough 🤣

Hi everyone! I’ve never posted here before but have read all your posts and the advice you all give out is so helpful, I’m just looking for a bit of advice and was wondering if any of you lovely lady’s could help.

So I have a 3 year old son, he’s autistic and non verbal and really limited understanding. He is currently still in nappies and can not tell me when he has filled them so I am really trying to start toilet training. I’m just wondering if anyone knows the best way to go about this with a child like mine? I’ve ordered a little potty training pack with stickers and stuff in his favourite characters, I’ve got a potty and a seat and steps for the toilet and I’ve got him little underpants too. I just don’t know where to start when I know he might not be able to understand 😢

Thank you for reading 🩷
I don't have much advice personally but Autism Speaks have a few bits/helpful advice regarding toilet training 😊
May be worth a look there! 😊

Is seperation anxiety in 3.5 year old a thing??? My daughter has come into my bed twice this week (which never ever happens), she’s woke up every night wanting me (waking up during the night is rare atm). I’m not complaining as I love the snuggles.. but she screamed and cried going to her dads this morning and she just wanted me 😭 I make sure I fill her cup up when I’m with her and I give her all my undivided attention the morning she goes to her dads too. She likes going and is fine once she’s calmed down. I told her from Sunday we have 2 weeks 24/7 together due to going on hol and she was really excited 🥹

I thoughy BNBN was a mumsnet word for twins until I clocked your username 😂

I can’t give advice, because I am a shouty mum. I really try to be calm, but these kids run rings around me, and sometimes I really just need to shout at them to stop. I’m definitely not one to judge on this!
Hahaha we love a biscuit what can I say😂 yeah they're slightly feral which makes it eery difficult to not just lose my shit🤭

I too admit to having moments of shoutyness. You could look up Janet Lansbury for some tips? I found understanding the “why” actually helped me not be shouty at them, and trying to be firm when they blatantly disregard you is so hard!
Thank you 💖 I'll have a little look at her🥰

At nursery my daughter always refuses the fish pie so they’ve started giving her tomato pasta instead and I have no issue with this. I’m strict with dinner and if she doesn’t want to eat it that’s fine, I don’t pressure her but I refuse to cook a second dinner. It just made me think at what point do you accept they don’t actually like something e.g. fish compared with just being a fussy toddler?

Waterproof sheets take so long to dry, it’s such a pain. would he entertain a pull up for a while?

2yo has been leaking out of his pull up every night for ages now. Tried so many brands and sizes, it’s KILLING me.

Hey, posting for advice please. I think I posted a few weeks ago too and nothing has changed. My two year old daughter is hysterically crying at nursery drop off. No signs of anything improving no matter what we do, and believe me we have probably tried everything. She's been going to this nursery since she was 10 months old and until maybe about 2.5- 3 months ago she'd never cry going in, she'd be maybe a bit subdued but otherwise totally fine. Now it's heartbreaking tears. They say she's fine after about 10 mins but is definitely more emotional generally than she used to be. Still seems happy at pick up the way she's always been. I know separation anxiety is very common but this has been happening for so long now that I'm scared this is just how she'll be with everything from nursery to school. Really not sure what else to try. She really does try to hold it in and is usually fine on the drive to nursery and even on the walk to the door. Then as soon as the staff member comes out to take her in that's when she literally breaks down into tears. It's so so hard. Has anyone been through this for a long period of time and how did you eventually overcome it?

My son has been in pants for nearly 2 weeks now and never does a wee at nursery. He's there 1-6pm 3 times a week. They keep putting him on the potty but he doesn't do anything, then on the walk back home he's desperate for a wee. So frustrating 🤦🏻‍♀️
My god I’m glad!!!! It can’t be good for them surely. He’s there 9-3!! He did a wee at 530!!! And then he did two more before bed and I just checked on him before and his night time nappy has got wees in it already I’m gonna have to change it before I go to bed 😖😖
In a way I’m glad he didn’t have any accidents but I don’t want him to be holding his wee all day 😖

You just take them to check in with your bag, they tag them and you take them to outsized luggage.
Sorry just jumping onto this- so defo no need to let them know or book the 2 free large kids items? As we are taking a car seat and stroller with us when we go away next month x

How old are they? Are their nappies dry? Are they showing interest in the potty?
Never ask if they need a wee, always say ‘it’s time to go for a wee’
I’ve been quite lucky with mine. My last one was naked all the time from about a year, so when it came to potty training he was easy 😊
He's 2 and a quarter! 😊 He is interested in his potty but I don't think he recognises when he needs a wee yet. He does when he needs a poo. I'm not sure if it's too soon, my OH is determined he is ready.

Can I ask how others would feel about this situation? I have a 3 yo and 9m old. My SIL (husbands sister) has been in an on/off relationship for about 2 years now - more off than on I’d say and last we were aware it was off, but now apparently back on.
Just to add, this is her first same sex relationship, and when they’ve had bust ups, SIL has confided in us all the dramas and how this person is an alcoholic, narcissistic, gets with other women behind her back then calls her up to tell her laughing about it, just being a downright nasty person. Obviously 2 sides to every story but this is what we’re hearing.
She’s been to our house with SIL a couple of times which I wasn’t really keen on tbf but was just trying to be reasonable, and every time she has been here she’s made a really over the top effort with my 3 year old, if you can imagine what I mean 🤣 to the point it’s cringey.
Now my issues is, my SIL is messaging me asking if they can take my son out for the day together? SIL hasn’t ever really taken him out on her own himself to be honest so not sure why the sudden interest. I can’t really explain why but I’m just not comfortable with it? But I feel like if I say no I’ll just be made out to be awkward? I’m always moaning I don’t have any help 😅 but this just doesn’t seem genuine to me.
I get the feeling cos they’ve just got back together they’re gonna use my son to try and have some weird family day out? Or am I just being childish I dunno?

My daughter is going on her first plane ride on Wednesday when we go on holiday so naturally she’s full of cold. I’m worried the pressure is going to make her ears hurt. Has anyone got any tips for anything that helps? Shall I just give her a snack for take off and landing?
Depending on age something to suck is best. So bottle/breastfeed if she’s still having either, a carton of juice, or if she is bigger a lollipop.
