Hello 👋 I haven’t posted on this thread before, but I’m wondering if anyone’s toddler has had issues with their tonsils and had to have surgery this young? My 18 month old has had tonsillitis quite a lot, he’s had to have antibiotics more times than I’d like but it doesn’t go on it’s own, we have ended up in hospital a few times now with a raging temperature that doesn’t go down. We have been referred to ENT by our GP, and the doctors in hospital this week put through a referral too. I’m hearing mixed things about whether they will do something or not, so has anyone had similar issues? He barely eats anything other than yoghurt because his tonsils are so big he struggles to swallow, you can see he’s in pain and he gulps really loudly when just swallowing saliva. He also snorts a lot too, which I think it probably linked.

That would definitely be something more to get checked out, you never know it could be a really simple “fix” for her.
Reaching out for some reassurance to GP and HV definitely won’t hurt
Yeh this is what I'm thinking x

My daughter is 3.5 but I had some concerns about her being delayed on her motor skills. I spoke to GP who referred me to HV who was able to refer us to physio. It took about two months to get the appointment I think but I guess waiting times will vary in different areas. My daughter has been discharged but the physio did a thorough check up and it’s put my mind at rest a bit. They also said because we’ve been there now, if I have more concerns in the future we can self refer back to them. Even when she’s at school next year they have said they can do a review at school if I feel she needs it. Anyway sorry for the ramble but just to say I found the appointment reassuring so I would recommend trying to see one.
Oh that's really good that you have that reassurance! I'm sure she's OK and maybe just being lazy but how long do you leave it lol! X

Has anyone used a stroller from birth instead of a bassinet? Second guessing whether to get a double pram for baby and toddler like a bugaboo donkey or just a double stroller. My toddler currently hates the pram so no idea if it’s even worth getting anything but we live off a fairly busy road to cross to get into town so ideally I’d like her secure in something for the walk into town! Not sure if a stroller would. Work for a baby though!

Yeah so the other night id quite literally had enough and I felt sick with tiredness so he was in the bath at 5.30pm and in bed for 6. He still woke up crying mummy 2/3 times between midnight and 3am and then was still up for the day around 4.
I spoke to the HV just for reassurance because I’ve got depression (that’s stemmed from PND) and I’m just struggling so much with the total burnout and she said it’s a phase and he will go back to his night time sleep soon.
As someone else has said, could you bring him into bed with you? Mine will usually wake somewhere between 2-4 crying for me, so I bring her in with me and then pretend to be asleep so she doesn’t think it’s morning time. She’s always been a bad sleeper so it’s pretty normal for her, but no doubt frustrating if he’s only just started doing it! It I tried to get her back in her own bed she’d just cry and cry so she just comes in and I try not to talk to her or anything to indicate it’s still night time!

Hi, my girl has her 12 month jabs in a couple of weeks and just was wondering how everyone else's little ones reacted to theirs? Were they poorly afterwards? And for how long? Just want to prepare myself!

I don’t know if my toddler (20 months) is just normal-for-toddler fussy or… really fussy 😅

He won’t eat (throws away) toast/bread, eggs, cheese, fruit, vegetables on their own. He wouldn’t even eat a lovely mini milk ice lolly when it was really hot so sadly I had to eat it 😋 He won’t eat meat/chicken on its own or chips.

He does eat porridge, cereal, crisps, yoghurt, breadsticks (anything crispy 😅), biscuits, and has an ok range of dinners - spag bol, fish/cottage pies, rice, veg mixed into sauces are ok etc.

I really struggle to know what to give him for lunches and snacks as I can’t just keep giving him crisps and biscuits!! wish he could just have a sandwich or like a bit of banana or something. I’d even love him to eat a chip sometimes!
He does drink a cup of milk in the day as well.

I guess I just have to keep offering? Any ideas?

Quoted myself here but toddler hasn't been sick since yesterday morning. He's eaten well and in good spirits. So we've decided to just go for it! He's currently running around bare bum and very interested in his willy 🤣

Decided not to use a potty as we didn't with my eldest as we have a downstairs loo in easy reach. Plus we don't have carpets downstairs either which helps too.

Wish me luck!
Good luck! and awesome to go straight to the toilet :)

Sods law isn't it 😂 makes you realise just how much they are growing up too 🥺
It’s so weird seeing mine in underpants.
I ordered four packs from Asda 😂😂. He had 2 accidents at nursery which I really don’t think is bad at all considering we started on Saturday. He’s done a 💩 and a wee since we got
Home as well 🥹

Hi everyone! I’ve never posted here before but have read all your posts and the advice you all give out is so helpful, I’m just looking for a bit of advice and was wondering if any of you lovely lady’s could help.

So I have a 3 year old son, he’s autistic and non verbal and really limited understanding. He is currently still in nappies and can not tell me when he has filled them so I am really trying to start toilet training. I’m just wondering if anyone knows the best way to go about this with a child like mine? I’ve ordered a little potty training pack with stickers and stuff in his favourite characters, I’ve got a potty and a seat and steps for the toilet and I’ve got him little underpants too. I just don’t know where to start when I know he might not be able to understand 😢

Thank you for reading 🩷

So my daughter is at nursery and we’ve had a social service visit over bruises we couldn’t explain. I’m mortified. Anyone else been in this position?
My friend had an SS visit over a bite mark the dad caused play fighting (a gummy bruise, not teeth marks) - although actually it wasn’t just SS, it was nonsense as she had to take the children to the local hospital to get completely checked over, and the police visited, the dad wasn’t allowed with the children alone until the end of the investigation. My friend was mortified (and furious with both the husband and the nursery). However, the nursery has reported countless other families too. The manager was adamant she’d lose her job if she didn’t report the incidents. So don’t worry, it’s just a bit of process that they have to go through, although excruciatingly annoying and a waste of resources, let’s face it.

I had an ongoing back and forth battle with my daughter’s old nursery with accident at home forms - I made them check their CCTV thoroughly on a number of occasions. Kids bump, bruise and scratch themselves all the time.

How was the SS visit? Hope you had a sensible one x

I think maybe it’s time to stop doing so much with her. I know horse riding is expensive, but if my child acted like that, I wouldn’t be sending them and I would be staying home with them
We are also in the thick of delayed terrible 2s (he’s nearly 4!) and it’s tough, but we try to ignore it, although Mr B threatens him with the step, but it’s always a bit too far
I don’t pay for it, it’s my family members farm and they have stables, she’s been doing it every week since she was 2 and to be honest - I’m glad of the hour break. As she’s showing next year she needs to do the lessons or else it’ll have a knock on effect.

She’s always done swimming and riding lesson on a Wednesday unless it’s been school hols. She’s not tired she’s just kicking off over me saying no over another ice lolly.

We only do swimming for half an hour (lessons) in a morning from 9:30-10 and then it’s home time, she just sits on the iPad or we play a game, whatever she wants to do. Then Wednesday afternoon she has half an hour riding lesson and we just chill after that. Thursdays we go to a toddler phonic class and the afternoon we don’t do much either. I’ve really got used to just letting us “chill” ..

This is the joy of them going to primary school and a couple of parents do a collection for the parents for the teachers!
One year, I had one of the mums give me loads of samples for hair stuff as she was a hairdresser, and i really appreciated it. It was so thoughtful, and I still think about it now (and the kid is 16!!)
For my sons teachers last year, I got them all a box of chocolates each, probably did go a bit ott, but I couldn’t leave them out. There was 8 of them 🤢 so cost about £30
Yeah we've got about 8 to buy for too if I do everyone 🙈 the joys 😂

Then nursery too need to have a look at some coping techniques.

No child is "over emotional" they need guidance, not labelling.
Her key worker said today that she’s emotional at times, and they said they tell her to communicate with words rather than screaming and crying and to tell them how she feels. She can tell someone she’s sad, happy, etc.. she’s done it in the past when I’ve asked her how she feels.

For instance her summer assessment it said “A expresses her frustration with noises and outbursts rather than words, we will support and encourage A to express how she is feeling through words rather than her outbursts”

They are a good nursery and the only reason they mentioned it was cos it was her parents evening, it wasn’t just flippant randomly. I’m well aware she needs to learn to communicate with words rather than a huge meltdown. I agree though it’s hard for a little child to grasp it but I’m just fed up of it, it’s every single day at the moment and it’s like nothing I say or do will make her listen to me, it’s just scream scream scream scream and cry 🙁

What age would you say cinema for toddlers? Mine is 3.5 years old and I’m thinking he would be ok, for something he likes, like there’s a Thomas and friends film I reckon he’d sit through and enjoy but a part of me is still panicking and don’t want to take him out kicking and screaming 😅

Hi everyone,

Feel like I just whinge when I come on here but looking for some tips.

My 1yo has had every cold going since starting nursery 5 weeks ago to the point I get anxious to take him and worry what’s next. We’ve already had d+v too.

This cold I’ve had for 10 days now, it’s gone to my sinuses and I generally feel so shit. However, my boy is struggling to sleep because of all the snot. He hates the snot sucker too but I use it when I can.

I’ve got the calpol plug in, use olbas oil and baby Vick on him at night to try and help. Does anyone have any other suggestions how to help? Seems relentless and never ending ☹
