Mine has decided he doesn’t like my hair dryer now!! This is because he doesn’t like hand dryers. I’ve just put it on and I accidentally put it on full blast and it is quite loud 😟 he ran off crying bless him. He was fine with it until he experienced hand dryers somewhere the other month!!!!
Mr3 suddenly got scared of the vaccuum recently. It came out of nowhere. He doesn’t like my hair dryer either so I thought maybe it was the noise … but I’ve made a game out of it. So I get him to “help” with the vacuuming and he helps me push it around, and I get him to “help” me dry my hair and I think that’s working.
I feel terrible when I forget and just turn them on though! He’s much better when I give him some warning so he can cover his ears or run down the hallway 😂

We semi co slept till he was 6.
He'd go to bed in his own bed at around 7pm, but then anytime from midnight he'd find himself in my bed. He knew he was able to do that, so long as he always went straight back to sleep. Half the time I didn't know until I woke in the morning.
He decided a week before he turned 7 enough was enough and he's slept in his own bed ever since.
I left the ball in his court, he knew bedtimes meant he had to start the night in his own bed regardless and he knew one day, he'd need to sleep in there all night every night but I followed his lead
Thankyou. This helps and I think it’s something I’m going to do. He woke up I didn’t check the time but I’m guessing midnight or around then and he was on his way back to our room 😂 but I said let’s get in yours. Big mistake. So if he gets up tonight I’ll try just straight into ours then

Been to my mums this afternoon and i over heard her telling my fella to get the nappies off my son. This is like millionth time she’s mentioned it this year. If I hear her one more time I’m gonna punch her in the mouth 😂😂😂. Im not a violent person but she is making me very wound up
If only it was so simple to potty train!!! I have an agreement with nursery it is pointless yet because they think he won’t tell them he needs a wee. He is getting better with communication with adults but it’s still a bit off.
does she think I am putting it off for the fun of it!? It really angers me when she mentions it. She mentioned it at Easter and I snapped at her saying I don’t want to hear it and now she’s doing it behind my back when she thought I’d left the room!!!!🤔🤔🤔
My Mum keeps mentioning it to me. And indirectly to my 2 year old 🙃
She said the other day when I was changing her "Ahh you don't need these anymore, do you?"
Keeps asking me when I plan to potty train her. Infact the first time wasn't a question it was "I presume you'll be potty in the summer" 🙄

So tonight I asked her to pick 5 books, she went to bed at 7:15pn with her books. Out of the 5 we got through 2 cos she was tired, by 7:30pm she said she wanted some raisins.. ok.. then she ate 2 of them, then 7:40pm she’s screaming cos she wants some cereal. NO chance. I said if you’re hungry have your raisins, she’s purposely delaying bedtime. No drama over books, just pretending to be hungry! MORE tears from her and kicking off over pointless stuff, need to rant! I’ve had enough! It’s so hard on my own at times
Sending you massive sympathy.
Honestly I've been there, it used to just be me & my 10yo, and he would always find ways to try and stay in control and push boundaries.

I know its hard but you have to be so firm and after a few bedtimes she'll realise she can't delay the inevitable anymore.

Switching nurseries for my little one from September to be closer to home and get into our local primary. Why do I feel so scared to tell his current nursery?! I daren’t tell them 😂

Also - we are due baby number 2 very soon. How did people introduce their eldests to the babies? Did they visit in hospital or when you got home?

Tired tired tired and tonsillitis has struck me 😭 mini A hasn’t slept well all week, she’s been full of a cold and bad cough. Which in turn I’ve not slept well.. she’s hardly ate much in the last few days just managing bits of stuff. She’s not slept past 6:15am since Sunday and she’s just exhausted. I’m exhausted so i dread to think how she feels. Due to early wake up I’ve been putting her to bed at 7.15 so she’s asleep for 7.30-7.35ish but I’m wondering if it’s too early and it’s causing her to be awake early (but she’s waking up at 6am and it’s a longgggggg day for a 3 year old)??

She usually is asleep for 7:40pm when she’s well, and she sleeps soundly until 7am, sometimes 7:15am.

I think she’s waking up early cos she’s starving but she’s not managing much 😫 just hope she perks up soon and has a proper sleep which I hope will help.. doesn’t help there’s nobody else to take over the nights and I’ve had complete broken sleep allllll week.. her dads been doing overtime at work amd
He didn’t come mid week like he usually does to see her so I didn’t even get a break! Thankfully she’s at her dads tomorrow morning till Sunday till 3pm so I can get a long sleep without being interrupted 🤞🏻
6am-7.30pm isn't a long day for a 3 year old really.
My 2 year old gets up at 5am and goes to bed around 6.30 and she's fine.
Unfortunatley don't get a chance for a break or lay in myself though

When adult teeth come through is it as painful for them?!
It depends, if they come through the "supposed" spot then no.

However my 10yo has an overcrowded mouth (has braces fitted next year) so his teeth have come through where they wouldn't normally one has grown through the space behind the actual location& it was agony for him.

So it all depends on the child to be fair.

Not sure if this is the right thread but figured we are all parents and would love others opinions.

I work full time (single/lone/sole parent), and my daughters nursery have just upped their daily prices by £9. They claim to have rang other nurseries in the area and matched them. It's now £62 per day.

I claim the 30 free hours for my daughter, and my monthly bill (sometimes it's a 5 weekly bill) is usually around £495, with the 30 hours taken into account.

However the nursery no longer stretch the funded hours through the summer holidays, meaning my July/August bill is going to be huge. Last year wasn't too bad as it was prior to this huge increase (well, still a shocking amount to pay!!), but this year it's going to be £1,180. She will start school in September 2024 so I still have another 18 months of this. She has been at this nursery since December 2021, prior to that I was part time and she went to a local childminder.

My question to you all is: Would you move her to a nursery where they stretch the hours, allowing me to keep costs lower all year? She is very settled where she is and has so many friends, plus a great bond with staff members. But I simply do not know how I will afford these summer bills. It may seem easy for some to save for, but for me on just my wage and very little UC, it will cripple me.

I am so stuck on what to do :(
If she’s settled there, I would put extra money into your government childcare account during the months where you can claim the 30 funded hours and then use this in the summer months. Eg work out how much it would’ve been per week with stretched hours, deposit that into the childcare account so it’s a regular amount you can factor in, then by the time the summer comes around there will be surplus.
Having said that - we had to move my daughters childcare twice in one year, once because we moved house and the next time because we weren’t happy with the provision. At each place she was happy and had friends yet at each new place has settled quickly and made friends again. So if this is significantly going to impact your ability to pay for childcare, then moving your child isn’t the end of the world. They will make friends again

jealous 😂 Mine is still awake chatting absolute shit. He’s sang that song about the baker man and the buns having a cherry on the top about 17 times
Oh god. He wouldn’t lie down for ages. I had to cuddle him and get him to lie down that way and then he was messing under the quilt for ages. And kept wagging his finger and me and going No!!!🤣
I love half term and I hate half term🤪

What temperatures do you it sun cream on your kids. I’ve been putting it on mine this week and it’s been 14 during the day. But I feel I am going out of my mind worrying he’ll get skin cancer when he’s older. My other half gets him ready and takes him to nursery as I leave for work at 640 and I keep telling him make sure you put sun cream on and I bet he’s sick of me but if he forgets I just start over thinking. 🥺
I don’t put it on mini A unless it’s a warm day where she’s in shorts and a short sleeved top but that’s literally been once this year. Nursery go off the uV index and they put suncream on them with the slightest bit of sun which is good. On holiday it’s been factor 50 every 45 mins as it’s been roasting.. she’s got an all in one on daily and her hands and feet are tanned, unless I keep her inside she’s gunna get abit of colour to her. Myself on the other hand…… 😂 I forget to put suncream on and use sunbeds so I can’t say much if I get skin cancer

Has anyone changed their toddler’s preschool? My 3 year old won’t go to school until next September so she’ll have a full year at preschool. I might be able to move her to a forest school which she’d love. She’s only been attending her current one since September and only 15 hours from January. She’s not fully settled in and doesn’t love it but I’m nervous of starting over with her and then again next year for school.
Does the school she’s starting have a nursery? I am changing 3yo come September so he will be in school nursery doing 30hrs. Same school his brother goes to. I’m really sad I made this decision though, because he loves it and the staff are so lovely!

Thank you I am really angry about it. It’s not the first time I’ve had comments about her at the door. They were brushed off at our last meeting but I’m not going to let it slide this time. I’m this close to pulling her completely but god knows where she’d get a place now. She has a year before she starts school and I wanted her to get used to being away from me for a full day before then but it’s actually just making us all miserable.
I do wonder if potentially her experiences and the language they’re using towards her/about her at nursery are playing in to her behaviour at home x

yeah I've been thinking maybe it's time to turn it into a bed! she does sleep in her cot every night i just have to put her in it once she's fallen asleep which is getting more difficult now she's getting bigger 😂
Yeah, I found it much easier once it was a bed because I could lay down with her, and gradually we’ve moved to me just sitting on the end of the bed ignoring her while she falls asleep. It’s game over if we make eye contact though 🤣

Hello. I have a friend who got a little girl who was a prem and is comng up to 3 years old. Her daughter weights 2 stone 4 lbs as of yesterday (she weight her every Saturday) friend is freaking out as thinking daughter is overweight everyone saying g oh she a heavy one isn't she. I bet your over feeding her (she isn't trust me the kid eats all fruit veg as good size meals as junk food on weekends) if people don't stop it's going to set her bulimia off. Her daughter is a solid child. As being from when started soilds. Plus the kid is strong she pulled her mum over who is strong herself and was a solid baby herself. I told her the kid is fine. Don't worry she a.toddler all under 4 year olds have extra weight on them but it drops when schools start. So can someone on here tell me she is panicking over nothing.
my daughter is 3 years old and is nearly 3 stone but she’s also nearly 100cm so I think she’s tall for her age?

I’m just wondering if anyone else has had a bad experience with your friends kids. Please bare with it’s a bit long winded.
In Easter hols I went to my friends with my little boy. They have a child similar age to mine. They were fine playing for a bit but she kept snatching things off him ( I know they are her toys so I understand its hard for them to share at that age they are both 4 few months before them) outside in the Wendy house she wanted him out so he pulled him by is his hood dead roughly as well!

I took him a packed lunch as we were there from 11 and don’t expect my friend to use her food. Anyway my friends kid had an utter meltdown mine had a custard pot and she didn’t have one .. she kicked off really bad. They calmed her down and she was fine then 10 mins later she wanted to get her crafts set out but my friend said no cos their other baby has just started crawling and they didn’t want him to put the things in his mouth etc. omg she had the worst tantrum I’ve ever seen. Mine doesn’t have them , he never has.not like that anyway! But she was kicking her mum and she smacked her dad and so they put her in the kitchen for time out and she was throwing all the cupboards open emptying everything on the floor. Wrecked their clothes airer. Mine was a bit traumatised so I took him home, cos she was screaming and shouting he didn’t like it..

Anyway it’s kind of put me off going to their house again with him 🙈. Am I being dramatic/
Soft / unreasonable. Please tell me your thoughts. Thanks ❤❤
So, I have 2 friends with kids the same age, and I’m like 👀 when we all meet as their kids argue while my 3yo is off in his own little world. It is getting slightly better though, but there is a bit of snatching and stuff going on, and I just have to tell mine to let them have it for a minute, as I know he won’t tantrum like they will (even if he had it first and/or it’s his toys

@al255 it sounds like it's maybe a policy with your nursery.
We were going to send my daughter and she was going to be using her 30 hours over 2 days and the only thing we were going to have to pay for was lunch.

I was thinking 2 books in my bed as that’s where she is before bed then one final book in her bed and starting book time earlier. It’s always “one more book” and the screaming starts 😫
---

iPad away at 6 doesn’t fit in at all, bathtime isn’t usually until 6:30pm as atm she doesn’t want a long bath, so she’s out by 6:45pm. Dressed at 7pm and she has 15 mins of ipad, taking the iPad away is never a problem it’s the books she’s kicking off over! Just fed up of the screaming over books 😩
Her mind will be running wild because of the iPad and the blue screen. Maybe you will just have to take the iPad away completely?
I’m not against the iPad btw. My 3yo has it before bed, however, it would be the first to go if he started playing up. He can chill and watch tv rather than that
