I think they’re going to set up another meeting after the Easter holidays and we can discuss his support plan in more detail. I couldn’t really say much at the first meeting as I was really upset and knew id start crying if I started talking

Hello, reporting back after the duvet arrived yesterday. Also bought a Lion King duvet cover which seems to have helped seal the deal. Small Biscuit was so excited when he saw he had a duvet in his cot with Simba on it! Got some lovely snaps of him tucked up with a big smile on his face. He didn't nap today so I think that has helped with him going to sleep so quickly. It's the most settled bedtime we've had in a couple of weeks.Thanks everyone for the advice re the duvet. Second fleece PJs from Primark. Both of my kids run hot so we tend to use those when we're having a PJ day at home or swap them at bedtime.
Cot bed duvet ordered and hopefully arriving by the end of this week. Thankfully the kids' bedroom tends to stay about 18-20C as we're in a new build. And Mini Biscuit is wearing warmer PJs
Of course I will be checked on him every 10 minutes tonight just in case he's pulled the duvet over his face

Hello! Not posted in here before, but I have a 2 year old, 3 very very soon! Not toilet trained just yet, we tried this week, but definitely not ready so we will try again in a few weeks.
But any advice on to how to start it? I feel like it didn't work this time as I probably gave out vibes of not knowing what I'm doing! I think I've overloaded myself on different ways to do it and muddled it!

does your child have a favourite teddy? Or figure they like?
We put my sons favourite teddy on the potty & said ‘oh, peppa’s doing a wee wee’ it works well if you have a glass of orange squash nearby to pour in to make it look convincing
I also bought potty training books to read, just to get him interested in it, there’s some good ones on Amazon.
I bought a cheap potty training sticker chart with his favourite character on to gauge interest.
I think the main thing is to gauge interest in it, lots of praise even if they just sit on it but don’t do anything.
This may sound like a cliche but consistency is key, keep talking about the potty & have the potty out all the time.
It took my son around 3 weeks to do it.
First day no pants, have the potty next to them at all times and when they start going just stick them on the potty. Next day, maybe pants (make sure they know how to pull them down), potty next to them. Lots of excessive praise! And chocolate buttons for bribery.
Day 3 I thought my child was not getting it but pushed through and they are doing well now. Although no with #2s -we are a week in and yet to crack these!!
We let my 3 yo roam naked from such a young age (covid times!). I was never in a rush with him and wfh. The main thing for us was introducing pants, but it took him about 2/3 days to get used to them and he’s been dry since
I would love to let my little one roam naked so he could figure out toileting but I like my new carpet too much lol. How do you lot do it? He’s 3 next month and could not care less to go on the toilet when offered
I went straight to underpants and took him the toilet every 10 minutes and asked if he needed the toilet. He weed in his underpants a couple times but got used to them quite quick because he didn’t like the feel of the underpants wet so he’d start to tell me he needed the toilet

I am in a carpeted house (since having children, I would die for wooden floors
) and I have recently trained my 2.5 year old. I would hugely recommend buying the Huggies Dry Nites bed pads. I tucked them into the seat of our sofa and also covered the floor in a big playing/potty space in the lounge and they are great!to anyone struggling to potty train, if you genuinely think they are ready and you can keep persisting, once you get past day 3 it sticks! Day one and two completely naked from the waist down helps hugely as (I think) they have more awareness of their bodily functions and you’re more likely to be able to catch half a wee on the potty when they have an accident.
Oh, our carpet was tit and stained, so it didn’t bother me (we did get it prof cleaned)
Apparently you should ask if they need the toilet. You shouldn’t give them the option. You should tell them ‘we are going to the toilet’ and let them do their business
Anyone asking about potty training I recommend giving Oh Crap Potty Training a read. I always reread it before starting again with one of the kids, and actually was just rereading it last night as ToddlerMe is two later this month so we will be starting in the next while.
Biggest tips from me are NEVER ask if they want the toilet - tell them it’s times to try. And remember it takes time, it’s not done and dusted in a few days.

I'll keep talking about it until we get the time to go for it again!

I’ve heard that baggy style trousers (joggers as opposed to leggings) can work well too if your little one doesn’t like to be naked. It means they don’t feel any type of tightness or restriction that a nappy or pants would typically give, so it could work just as well as being naked.
A children’s psychologist suggested to me to put under pants underneath the nappy if they don’t like to be naked
I tried with my 3 year old and he’s just definitely not ready got a bit distressed this morning. Going to leave it few days and try again. Good luck x

I don't know if my boy has out smarted me here and he knows it's easier for him to stay in nappies than use the toilet
but there we go!I tried with my daughter august last year when she was 2.5 years old, she wasn’t ready at all. Loads of accidents and weeing more than she usually would. Tried again end of October/November and it was so easy. The difference of a few months!
