Midnight. House is dark and silent, all is peaceful….. and suddenly, full volume, a tiny voice yells through the monitor “SURPRIIIIIIISE!!!!”

And this is my villain origin story

Currently in hospital with a very poorly mini Pillows after her chickenpox got infected.
This is the worst I've ever seen her, and the first time we've actually been admitted to childrens ward. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy right now 😭
She had a temp of 41.5 which is why we came in. She's having IV antibiotics and paracetamol.

Just wanted to whinge basically about how unfair this all feels and how I really don't feel Christmassy right now 😔

So sorry she’s going through that. I have been thinking of you. The scarlet fever she had has probably lowered her immune system. She’s in the best place so hopefully will see her better soon ❤

Thank you so much ❤ I just hate seeing her in so much distress. Especially when she was doing so well to bounce back after the scarlet fever. Poor girl just can't catch a break. She has pox in her mouth so hasn't really eaten in about 48 hours. She's a little fighter, but her body has just been battered lately!

Oh god love her. You must be so worried and exhausted. She’s really being put through it. Try and look after yourself too xxx

Ugh that’s really, really tough. You’re in the best place you can be, hope you’re getting fed toast & tea x

Aw thanks guys ❤

the paracetamol is working wonders at bringing her temp down and we've had a lush nurse all day who's looked after us so well ❤

Been lurking here as it’s coming up time to transition from the baby thread, but there’s been so many ill little ones I didn’t want to interrupt. But it was starting to get weird reading and not saying anything, so hi!

We have Baby SodIt booked for his first dose of chickenpox vaccine in January, would have preferred it sooner but you have to wait at least 4 weeks since MMR which would put us late this week or early next (in work after that or it’s Christmas), but I couldn’t find anything in a 30 mile radius.
Those that have had it before - are they alright after, or off like with the regularly scheduled jabs? He’s having it on a Sat morn so wondering if I need to keep the day free.
He starts nursery in Jan and I’m feeling so wary and ominous with everything going round and his food allergies. Dreading the inevitable poorly son life.

I think my little girl has just had a night terror 😩 she came into our bed as she usually does then all of a sudden was screaming and hysterically crying, pulling at her pyjamas, throwing her dummy etc. it was awful. I was trying to get her to calm down but every time I held her she was just thrashing about so I had to put her down. Eventually she calmed down but is still awake now, happy as Larry laughing and talking. Does anyone else have experience of night terrors? I have bad anxiety anyway but now im terrified she’s going to have one every time she goes to sleep 😩

It's been a while since our eldest had it but from what I remember she was a bit off for 24h and then fine.

Chicken pox is funded here in nz, they get it the same time as the mmr at 15 months old. I think from memory with my oldest just expect them to be a bit off for 24/48hours

Yes, mine had it when she was about 18months- 2 years, it’s harrowing when they go through it but I don’t think they remember anything. I burst into tears one night as she ran at me hitting me because she was so scared - she obviously thought I was a baddie in her dream, she seemed awake but she obviously wasn’t. I think night terrors are different to nightmares because night terrors are kind of worse for you as a parent as the children don’t seem to remember anything the next day.

Ready to throw my son out the window with his eating just now! He’s always been a good eater but in the past few weeks his eating speed has slowed right down to the point it’s now taking him over an hour to eat a meal. And it’s not like we give him huge portions, lunch yesterday was a ham sandwich, some mango chunks, a satsuma and a yogurt. He will sit with food in his mouth for ages and not even chew it. But it’s not like he’s not hungry or doesn’t like it, he’s not spitting it out and saying he doesn’t want it. If we have an hour and a half spare he’ll eat his full meal, but that’s obviously not an option.

Took him 50 minutes this morning to eat a slice of toast, a few strawberries and a few mouthfuls of boiled egg. In the end I took it away from him and he started crying saying he was hungry?! Really don’t know what to do 😫
