Anyone any tips on handling the toddler tantrums? 🤦‍♀️ She either throws herself on the floor crying or goes all limp like a noodle so you can’t even grab her under the arms to lift her or anything, it gives me anxiety when we are out in public cause I feel like everyone’s staring at me thinking I don’t know how to control my child 🙈🙈 I also feel myself getting annoyed and frustrated with her and I feel like the worse mum.
I don’t know if I’ve blanked it out, but I don’t think I’ve ever dealt with major tantrums outside the house. Have you tried giving her a cuddle? I know that’s probably the last thing you want to do when they are getting on your last nerve x

We went through a similar phase, i would give her apple and peanut butter and that would seem to fill her up a bit more. Its a growth spurt thing I think.

Also water as well. Grown up’s think they’re hungry but most of the time need water, same with kids.

Does she have a water bottle at night next to her?
she doesn’t like peanut butter and getting toast into her is a nightmare now😂fussy!

yeah she does, she shouts me to get it for her even though she can reach it

Hi all, I haven’t read all the threads and I apologise if this has been asked before! I know you’re all in the same boat with being busy with little people so you won’t be too mad at me haha.

Master Fresh is due to turn 3 and we are having a hell of a time with hair washing! He has NEVER liked getting his head wet and that became mostly apparent at swimming lessons which we started at 6m through to about 2yo. I can’t think of any reason why except he just doesn’t like it 🤷🏼‍♀️
His hair got pretty gross so I washed it in the shower last night and he absolutely screamed the house down and cried for about an hour. It was pretty traumatic.

I’ve tried building up gently to getting his hair wet, wetting with a cloth, counting down, covering his face, being playful, singing songs … we even have “the man” who he baths with (a little toy construction man figurine 😂).

Has anyone been through this? Any tips please?

I think I only started taking mine out when he was like 2? We’d go to the odd place but frequented soft plays, parks and cafes when he was around 2. And now he’s gonna be 4 in April and we don’t go as many places now. Cos he’s at pre school all week. Usually at the weekend we go to football, he has started that a few weeks ago and if I’m off on a Saturday ( I get two Saturdays off every 4/5 weeks) we go somewhere like a woodland walk or a play centre 🙂.

Does anyone else toddler just not go to bed at night? Little one is 2.5, no matter how long or little they sleep even just 10 minutes they will not go to bed. They just scream the house down as soon as you try. I do not know how to get them to go to bed, they used to be so good would literally lie down and go straight to sleep but the last few weeks they just won’t sleep at all. Usually around 9-10pm before they go to sleep
Are they still having a nap in the day?

Yeah I'm wondering if we're just missing her sweet spot. Constant illness and the hospital stay messed up our routine 😭

I think we'll try another no nap day tomorrow and see how it goes. If it goes well then I think we may have to just say bye bye to nap time 😬

Only me again, dipping in with another issue! Lol
My little one is 21 months old and since he was 5 months old he has had a bath every single night. I’ve never skipped it. Xmas, holidays etc…. He’s HAD that damn bath.

However, tonight is the second night in a row he has become hysterical. Really panicked crying and real tears as soon as he hears the bath running. The crying carries on for about an hour into bedtime too - standing up in his cot screaming.

this is alien to me. It has always been a lovely calm routine of bath, bottle, cuddle, story bed, sleep.

I should also mention he’s also become scared/refused his milk. 9 days in a row now he’s pushed it away and hasn’t had any milk at all. Not too concerned cos he drinks loads of water.

please tell me this is a phase? It’s really distressing for me.
Just do a body wash with a Face cloth for a couple nights, run bath... really shallow. No pressure to get in. Get him to help you wash his toys in the bath... maybe a colourful bath bomb... we had similar and before we knew it he was climbing back in. Also he was scared of him or his toys going down the plug with the water! So don't empty water til child and toys are out. Was a phase for us... but didn't last long 😊

I think we are going to ease in to toilet training for my 2.5 year old, he’ll be 3 in May and I’m unsure if he’s ready yet but I’m honestly sick of the tantrums to do his nappy so maybe he’ll like this independence? Did anyone go straight to the toilet seat rather than using a potty? I can’t be bothered with the faff of another thing to clean but don’t want to set us up to fail! Was going to buy him a wee seat attachment for the regular toilet instead

Eeek think we have entered the hitting/throwing phase with the baby. We’ve always allowed soft things as an outlet to be thrown in the house which had worked really well until now but he threw a few cloth nappies right on the babies face and I potentially reacted a bit much so he is now repeating it… any advice? Assume just no reaction, and move him away? I know it’s not malicious but my god the smirk the 2yo gives when he’s “misbehaving” 🙄

Not toddler related as such but me related 😭 I went into a glass door and it smashed….. this is the result! I’ve got surgery on Tuesday. (Click spoiler to see the awful cut - TW ITS AWFUL!

My daughter has been with her dad all weekend as I’m not much use, can’t really pick her up or play as it’s so so sore 😫 .. she came to see me today and she kissed it better. Glad surgery is Tuesday as she’s going to be at nursery. Need to ask nursery if I can drop her off 5-10 mins earlier. I need to be at hospital 25 mins away at 8am and nursery opens at 7:30am…. 🙈 there’s always loads of traffic so getting her inside for 7:35am and leaving even means I’ll be late. Hoping they won’t bother but I’m thinking their insurance won’t cover them till half 7 would it?? 😫
Can her dad not take her just this once. Hope you’re ok

Hey guys, new to this thread 🫶 My daughter is 21 months old. She hates her travel system and always has done since she can walk! I’m in two minds about buying a stroller. We’re going on a few day trips soon and we need to have some kind of pram, but I’m just worried of buying one and her hating it! I think she doesn’t like the travel system because it doesn’t incline fully to sit her up. So I’m thinking of getting a stroller that fully inclines which she might prefer. Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Would you recommend me buying one or leaving it? 🤯
a cheap stroller i think would be best! or a trike, you can get some really good trikes that look like strollers

Yeah I say I can't be arsed too. Easier than explaining I'm actually scared to leave the house 🤷🏻‍♀️😂.
I always use the excuse I'm skint. There's no shame in not taking your kids out tbh, you occupy them, they're unhappy, you don't they're unhappy. Toddlers are just arses.
😂😂😂😂that’s so true actually. Before Christmas I took mini A to a winter light trial 2 years in a row and all she did was moan both times and I thought I’m not doing it this year 😂 not paying money for her to moan for a 3rd year! Then if we don’t do anything Christmassy I feel guilty. I think I’m going to do Lapland UK this year though as it looks amazing and she will be nearly 4

Does anyone know what to expect with speech therapy? I mentioned before the preschool has referred my 3yo (with permission)
They actually really made me so angry yesterday. They phoned to book a couple of weeks ago for Friday just gone. All she said was ‘can you make this Friday?) didn’t give me a time, no letter was received, I didn’t even know the location!! Anyway, when she rang to rebook yesterday, she was pissed. Erm, how am I supposed to turn up when I’ve had nothing?? Didn’t even have a phone number to ring. She gave me 2 dates, but it’s my 6yo birthday and then his party and she was so huffy about it on the phone, I don’t even want to go. I explained I didn’t receive anything, so she said she’d send the next letter first class, which has just arrived, which makes me think she’s an absolute shite receptionist and didn’t get a letter sent last time 😡

I’ve always had awful trouble with them. They are shitty with me as well when I can’t make appointments like hello I work !! I can’t just come when they want. Also I was waiting for their report , we are meant to receive that then go in to discuss after we had the three (useless) sessions. Never heard anything and nursery chased it up for us and they had discharged us without us knowing !! No letter or anything. Said they’d sent it out I never received it. Now we had to go back on the referral list and haven’t heard anything since November !!

he works in another town and he gets a lift as he doesn’t drive, just frustrating. She will be unsettled if I don’t take her as it’s pretty much been me, I’m just gunna get there for 7.25am if I can’t drop her off any earlier ☹ fml….. I’m dreading surgery tbh , I’ve never had anything stitched up so I’m scared for the pain after 😂🙃
I think you’ll be ok. When I gave birth I had stitches and they honestly weren’t bad at all and were healed afteR two and a half weeks. Can you keep her off nursery and ask a grand parent to have her instead. Would that be easier

I dunno what’s up with mine lately. He isn’t sleeping great. He keeps waking up 2/3am until 4/5 am which makes it very hard work to get up for work at 6. Then he’s a nightmare in the evenings doesn’t wanna eat his tea!! He refused tea tonight. Last night I made it at 5 didn’t want it. Pushing me in kitchen at 6 for tea. Tonight doesn’t want anything. But he has good meals at nursery so I don’t need to worry about malnourishment 😂. He used to sleep 630/630. Now he just keeps waking. I’ve tried later bed times. Sometimes works sometimes doesn’t. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️
He may be waking because he's hungry?

He was eating lunch 🤦🏻‍♀️ so part of me thinks he was distracted, but without pants he took a break from eating tea to sit on his potty and do a poo!
Was it a one off then? If so I really wouldn’t worry. Sometimes they get distracted by something that wasn’t interesting the day before. Sometimes they have a bad day. Try again, and keep a close eye on his cues to help him out.

Currently in hospital with a very poorly mini Pillows after her chickenpox got infected.
This is the worst I've ever seen her, and the first time we've actually been admitted to childrens ward. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy right now 😭
She had a temp of 41.5 which is why we came in. She's having IV antibiotics and paracetamol.

Just wanted to whinge basically about how unfair this all feels and how I really don't feel Christmassy right now 😔
sending love to you all& I hope she’s on the mend soon xxx
