Oh my goodness, I feel stingy 😂

My auto times are set to
6.30-8am (wake up in the warm)
4.30-7pm (bathe and get ready for bed in the warm)
however, if I want it on all day, I am doing it because my house gets so cold. I am not holding back, especially with the baby in all day. I will not have it on over night, as I can’t deal with the heat/smell of heating
I have bought all the kids thicker duvets and fluffy blankets. The baby has a sleepbag and 3 blankets on at night 🤦🏼‍♀️

Nooo all night are you crazy 🤣🤣. Ours is on a timer. Comes on 6am… 12pm , 4pm & 8pm & then I think 1am all each for a hour. Our house is small and it seems to keep the heat quite well I turned it off the other night cos I woke up warm . We sleep with winter quilt and then blanket on top if we’re cold. Just can’t afford it on all night !! 😢 it’s meant to be warmer tho this week. It’s been 13 today at ours!!
Our house has been 13 today. Better than 7 last week (our heating was on all day and it just got to 10) we pile up the beds. I like getting into a cold bed and having the duvet up to my neck 😂

I don’t think that’s stingy at all??? It sounds reasonable. I have long sleeved top and pj pants for bed. So does my little one. My fella usually sleeps in a hoody as well. He set the timer yesterday cos we’ve been cold but a lot of the time only have it on 6am and then before bed to warm up like you! I don’t like it on over night either. Can’t go wrong with a thick duvet either 😊.

I keep mine on pretty much all day when it’s as cold as it has been, it comes on at 6am and goes off at 8pm. If it gets really cold then we’ll set it to come on for an hour through the night but I can’t stand a warm room when I sleep, it just makes me restless 🫠

God no! We’ve a hive and have it set to minimum of 16° from 9am-6pm, 17° from 6pm-8pm, 16° 8pm-6am and 17° again 6-9am. We’ve averaged 4hrs a day over the last cold week but it’s usually more like 2-3hrs. Last week our energy was £11 a day which isn’t great!

This is our problem. Without the heating on, the rooms are around 10-12 degrees.

If we do have it on at night, we don't have ours on in our room. We have the bathroom and the kids rooms on. But even still it's only around 16 degrees max when it's on all night.

I normally like sleeping semi naked, so having to wear clothes through the cold is really bugging me 😂
We are £10 in debit with the g&e, but the money we have received from the gov hasn’t gone towards our bills, so I’m saving that up for when we get hit with a huge bill!

Mine goes on automatically if it goes under 5c 😂

Personally, for me it’s wasted energy. I’m not benefiting from it because I’m asleep. I hate it coming on at 6.30 when we don’t have to be up until 7.15 😂😂

I’m more stingy during the day when I’m off on a Wednesday/Thursday and when I’m at work it’s not on at all. It’s literally only at night! I’m thinking of keeping it off from 7pm to 12am and then leaving it on for the rest of the night - it’s only set to 40 degrees on the boiler though and the only rooms that have the heat are my room & my daughters!

The night she’s at her Dads I don’t put it on at all 🤣🤣🤣

The kids benefit, especially Everleigh as she won't sleep with a blanket or anything and I get up to pee 9 or 10 times a night so I also benefit from the bathroom being warm 😂
And then we're up at 4/5am anyway 😂

Wish I had it on during my 500 visits to the toilet last night 🫠😂

How have I missed this thread moving on?!

Last night was the first night in weeks I haven’t had to sleep in a fleece as well as my pjs because finally the house has warmed up again. Kept dipping down to 13° during the night 🥶 and ToddlerMe refuses to sleep under the covers.

I’m not sure whether 3yo has a UTI… he keeps saying his tummy is sore above his belly button to the left and he went for a wee 4 times in an hour earlier and weed on the foot stool, which isn’t like him. He also wet the bed last night, but hasn’t complained of it hurting when weeing. I did google symptoms and he has a couple, but the pain in the upper tummy is throwing me off…

I saw this recently which I found interesting. No harm getting a wee sample dipped for him.
I imagine you aren’t getting up close and personal, but does his wee smell strongly? That was my only indication that 4yo had a UTI when she was little.

Ooh, it’s just at the top of the kidney stones on the right! Thank you so much for this! I can’t breathe to smell the wee, but from what has been happening, I’m going to guess it’s a UTI. He has a twisted bowel (I think. I can’t remember what they said it was, but it’s not an hernia, just a lump above his belly button) and I was panicking it was something to do with that. Although, as I’m writing it down, maybe I should get it checked to be on the safe side!

Those of you with 3 year olds, do they still nap? My daughter is only just turned 3 and can go a whole day without a nap but if we offer one she will nearly always take 1.5 hours at least. But if we do that, she won't go to bed before 10 at night. But if she doesn't have one she doesn't sleep longer at night, just goes to sleep quicker?
Currently been trying to get her down for almost 2 hours, it's almost as though she's overtired and can't settle, despite the fact she had a nap today? Yet Monday, she didn't have a nap, and was out like a light at 7.15

Hmm mine stopped napping around 2.5 when he went to nursery full days. It’s so much better when he doesn’t have a nap. When he was 2 he did 2 afternoons at nursery and would always fall asleep on the way home at 3 and he’d be asleep til 5 and then wouldn’t go to bed then. But when he stopped napping he went to bed at 630 still does now during term time. weekends / holidays 730!

3.5yo here, they stopped shortly after their birthday but do still nap sometimes. However, it definitely affects bed time if they do. If they want a nap I have to shorten it to 30-60m!

Mine stopped all naps at 18m, we then went through probably another 18m where if she fell asleep in the day (long car journey or totally physically exhausted like lots of swimming) then getting her to bed was a nightmare but actually since she was about 3 we've found that a short nap doesn't actually affect her bedtime.

I think sometimes they can get like a second wind if you don't get them down during an ideal window and then they keep going for another couple of hours which is so annoying.

Yeah I'm wondering if we're just missing her sweet spot. Constant illness and the hospital stay messed up our routine 😭

I think we'll try another no nap day tomorrow and see how it goes. If it goes well then I think we may have to just say bye bye to nap time 😬

Mine stopped napping at 15 months and would go to sleep at 6. It was a hard push to get her through til then but she was not sleeping any time after 3 or she’d be up til midnight 🥴 the transition to no nap is hard but worth pushing through I think.
