How the hell do you get your two year to take a covid test and not be scared. We have tried to get our 2 year old tested as she was near someone who had it. But she freaking out we only managed to just get swap a little in she had a huge melt down. She tit scared. Hubby said try when asleep. She fine in herself but we want to make sure.

We had a similar scenario this week and we did it when she was asleep. With the weather and potty training we’ve been at home anyway but probably would have tried to keep away from people anyway as it was pretty difficult.
If the swabs are nose and throat ones, can you swab just inside her cheek?
We did this for my 1 year old and it still showed positive.
We tested her again with some that were just for nose and all we did was lightly run it round only slightly inside her nose. Didn't really go far up at all
Sorry to turn this into a potty training diary 
but we’ve had a hard day today and now I’m doubting if she is really ready. I put shorts with no knickers on her for some of the day yesterday and she had a few accidents but was still able to make it to finish on the potty.
Today she has had all accidents in her shorts and isn’t bothering to even attempt to make it to the potty when she’s in them. She was naked for her bath and started having a wee then ran to her potty so it’s obviously having the clothes on that’s the issue.
She’s very sensitive to any pressure and gets anxious easily, so I haven’t been taking her to use the potty just gentle reminders and letting her figure out her body. It’s day 5 and she’s still having accidents then going to finish on the potty, so not got the hang of it yet. Do I carry on with the shorts or go back to bottomless at home?

How about a dress? That way she still has to pull up the dress but doesn’t have to pull anything down? Sorry not sure how old your daughter is but it could just be her age too. Thank you so much for your recommendations for my previous ranting post. Just wondered if ANYONE OUT THERE has any recommendations for keeping them in bed when you put them down? She has no naps during the day, early enough wake up, active ish day, fresh air but come bed time it’s 2 hours plus of putting back into bed, every single night. What time do your 2-3 year olds go to bed? Maybe I’m putting her to bed too early? Should I force her to do some kind of activity to wear her out???

We only manged one nostril. She woke up screaming. I just had to do the test lucky negative. But we persevered and on day 3 she had 2 accidents, day 4 she had 1 and then that was it

I just don't want to go through trying again..she was terrified..we was trying so hard to be careful and not scare her.
it would take three of us to do it next time. I can't get her to be afraid when going nearby her face. Especially her nose when we do nosey nosey kisses. But I have to fight it to make sure she is well. Shame their no easier way.

i agree. I’ve had covid twice and the second time I had it, I didn’t bother testing my daughter. If she had a temp etc I’d just deal with it and assume she had covid. From the first time she had it, I knew what to look out for anyway. I’m sure they say don’t test babies/infants anyway as they don’t usually get unwell like adults do from covid. You’d just manage the symptoms and if they got worse, ring 111/999 as per any other illness x
Yesterday was day 5 and she had more accidents then day 1. I guess being clothed is totally new for them. She’s naked now and had an accident but finished on the potty, so not sure if she’s really got the idea of it but I’m going to persevere. I’m trying her with a dress on and no knickers today so let’s see
Bless her. Is she old enough to know how to blow her nose? My friend got her kid to blow their nose and she tested the contents of the tissue and got a positive like that. Best of luck anyway and hopefully she'll escape it.
Sadly no. She got a normal temperature and is chasing her dad about. We did the test as my friend freaked out (she thinks a lot of my daughter) She does daily tests also due to her work had negative when visiting us we(hubby & I) did a test negative before seeing her.
As the others have said, if she shows no symptoms, I wouldn't bother testing her.
And if she does show symptoms and you don't want to test her, then just isolate for 5 days if possible anyway
When we got covid last month from my Mum, I didn't go anywhere near her yet I caught it. But my 4yo was hugging and kissing her constantly and didn't catch it
How much child free leisure time do people get? I'm always with my children. If I'm out by myself I'm wither doing a boring errand or I'm walking the dog.
