No you’re right and it devalues the needs of ones that actually do. Ooh I can’t concentrate at work I’m self diagnosing myself with ADHD- nah babe you know your whole life if you’re neurodiverse, you spend your whole childhood wondering why you don’t fit in
Apparently self diagnosis is valid. You wouldn't go around self diagnosing yourself with cancer so why is a developmental disability ok?

I used to know someone who claimed he was Autistic because he was good at maths which isn't part of the criteria. I've got friends with Autism who are average at maths and better at arts subjects. I've got a friend who is good at maths who I don't think is Autistic.

As a qualified health care professional myself,I'd question anyone who has self diagnosed, as to why they hadn't sought a professional diagnosis?I've encountered people who had self diagnosed because they wanted a 'label',but official diagnosis was not giving what they wanted. There are so many reasons

I don't know, probably because it takes 45 mins to even speak to a receptionist at a GP surgery and then 3 weeks for an appointment during which you're fobbed off with 'more sleep and exercise'?

(I hate the self diagnosis trend, especially for children, but just to point out that people who really are struggling with mental illnesses face incredible barriers to get themselves in front of understanding healthcare professionals)

I completely agree with you, believe me I can understand the frustration just trying to get an appointment. I've experienced the same frustrstion/anger myself when trying to get help for a family member. The family part of me wants to play merry hell to get something done the professional side is equally pissed off because patients with mental health and medical conditions are sometimes being failed. Quite often misuse of services by individuals means genuine patients can't get the support they need.My issue with self diagnosis is when the person needs/wants attention, uses illness to get the attention and they know they won't get the diagnosis they want from a health care professional.

Yeah I never get why people WANT to be sick? If they were actually sick they wouldn’t want to be :)

Must be some kind of self protection mechanism. If they are ill then it means any failings on their side are due to that, not due to the fact they are lazy, less smart than they believe, or have another character flaw etc.

I think it’s just a modern form of Hypochrondia. The old biddies used to go on and on about their ailments. Now younger people diagnose themselves with MH issues

🤣 one example here, I watched reported missing and looked at the hash tag to see what other people thought of it and this is what came up , you can use your imagination as to what's under the sticker but it happens all the time , total unrelated hash tags used to get views/engagement
Bloody hell, I thought you just meant thirst trap type pics which I've had a lot of, not this 🤣

People do that loads on depop, it winds me up to no end. If I wanted to search for your secondhand washfaded Primark I would, stop putting other tags on it 😡

Bloody hell. It must be because I’m not on twitter.

This winds me up no end! Google images is all over the place because of people deliberately mis-tagging things.

My gripe at the mo is I need inspo for a new hair cut, I've got fine, thin hair. If I google this, most of the styles are no where near fine nor thin. Search for midlength styles and it's a range from chin length to half way down your back. Ergh, it's annoying.

I never click on people's links but Laura Adlington had on a beautiful khaki trench coat, said she'd link it in her stories but the story she posted says mine was out of stock so here's a similar one. I didn't want to see a similar one so didn't click the link. Why not link the OOS one so we can check for stock updates if we so wish? Oh yeah, thats right, because she wouldn't get as much affiliate ££ from that would she .

Eta I've seen it's from Oasis so I will search myself 🤣

This person is I think a prostitute or an escort
She does something very seedy
She is a mum of two and often shares her underwear shoot pics on Facebook etc
She thinks very highly of herself and honestly she is very rough
She is currently on holiday with her kids but putting this on her Facebook
The statement is self doesn’t shock me
The fact she is on holiday with her kids and puts this up
Enjoy your holiday with your kids before you come back to being a hoe
But again the question I keep asking is who the duck cares and why feel the need to write a statement
