The Try Guys

I must admit when I read the headline "try guys cheating scandal" my immediate thought was it had to be Ned. Too sweet to he wholesome etc.
I like Keith and I like his relationship with Becky.
Eugene is phenomenally talented.
I quite like Zach but the continuation of his "single AF" persona after he'd moved in with his longterm partner didn't sit well with me tbh. Fair enough he didn't want to draw attention to a new relationship but could have toned down the series of videos about him being single!
Didn't Zach get engaged? I don't follow them anymore as I find them annoying af but the news got me over here to find the gossip deets!

Some people have been saying that he's been looking suspiciously high in some videos and the picture with the fan. Apparently he has history of opiate addiction?

.his seems unpopular but I almost get the sense that they possibly had an open relationship? Ariel's statement is a bit odd and not just because she's basically saying that they will work on the relationship. The story from Reddit also seems to suggest that Ned often flirted with other people in front of the guys and they didn't bat an eye. Just... odd. It's almost like they're mad that he has done this with an employee
I don’t think the relationship was open, she just hasn’t decided to leave him (yet?). That could change later.

But I definitely think the guys are extra mad it was with an employee. It was definitely the right choice to fire both of them.

I feel so bad for Ariel and the kids. And for Alex's fiance, who was with her for 10 years as well. God, what a terrible situation to be in. Didn't even have the decency to do it covertly, just all out in public together without a care in the world.

If your persona is "wife guy" then the main thing you have to do is to not cheat on your wife see also John Mulaney.

Just like when I see a man describe themselves as a "male feminist", I know there are massive mysognist skeletons in their closets, when I see a guy take on the "wife guy" persona I know hes gonna be cheating fairly soon.

I've been following this the entire day

A. I'm not that surprised. I always found the "I love my wife" persona a bit cringy and too much. I've seen people mention that it came off as over compensating and something they've experienced with their cheating ex-partners

B. This seems unpopular but I almost get the sense that they possibly had an open relationship? Ariel's statement is a bit odd and not just because she's basically saying that they will work on the relationship. C. I've seen people put a lot of weight on the 'consensual relationship' part of the statement and saying that a workplace relationship can't possibly be consensual. I wonder what people's opinions are on this?
I don’t think it was open, at most just the classic case of open marriage where only one them wants to open it up and the other goes along with it to try to save the marriage…

Are they religious? I saw a post that said Ariel took out the wife from her bio…but then Ned writes they work on their marriage and family is the most important for both of them…yeah, so important he’s cheating out in the open and acting like a sleaze.

this is what gets me too. they were both at madison square garden at that harry styles show, presumably knowing that there was a strong chance someone there would recognise him, and didn’t care. he was posing for photos with fans there like it was nothing! it’s so cruel.

Just saw the saddest clip of Ariel talking about Ned and the way she felt disrespected by him. And apparently also the fact he would help himself to their nanny’s food in the fridge without even thinking?!

Question from somebody that knew that Try Guys exist but never really followed anything: would you consider the fact that they seperate from him harsh or entirely expected? I get that the personality he portrayed was very "I love my wife" and may have no longer worked and relationships to employees are always grey area, but my initial reaction was really "wow, pretty harsh to get rid of someone for something in his personal life without breaking any laws", you get what I mean?

As for the wifes statement: it means nothing except that she is a responsible mom that puts her kids first and refuses to damage them with more negative stuff on their dad. They may work on their marriage but she may also prepare to dump him as gracefully as possible.

Yes, there was a big reveal of the relationship and then the engagement fairly shortly afterwards but I have no concept of the timeline tbh. Same as you, I haven't followed them in a couple of years as I got bored of them but my interest was piqued by that headline!

I'm not surprised they separated from him. I think it's important for their brand that they are seen to distance themselves from that behaviour. They all seem quite friendly with April too.
Anyway I've been thinking they probably all signed a contract re not being caught doing anything that would damage the brand - that would make it easier for him to be turfed out presumably.
Wasn't Ned kind of the business brain behind the whole thing? I got the impression the other 3 were the ideas men and the stronger performers if that's the right term?

I don’t think they had much of a choice.

On one side, Ned was her boss. So there’s the subordinate relationship issue going on. They frequently joked in videos that Ned was HR. So his relationship really looks dodgy from that perspective. Not to mention any allegations of sexual harassment or general inappropriate acts in the workplace could reduce their sponsorships etc so they’ll need to distance themselves from it as quickly as possible and as publically as they can.

Also, increasingly the Try Guys have become intertwined with the marriage too. Ariel’s on her own podcasts with them and has done lots of videos. There’s an entire “Try Wives” line up of videos, merch etc. I imagine they feel pretty betrayed by the whole thing (and the fact that he could have ruined the business and reputation they’ve built up for the past decade (?)) so they want to move away pretty quickly. It will be interesting to see if Ariel remains in anything in the future.

is anyone else getting kinda annoyed with buzzfeed employees (and the producer of their podcast) posting snarky “did i miss anything?” tweets and tiktoks of them sipping tea and stuff? there’s two young children involved in all this. stop trying to make yourselves relevant 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yeah 100%, this story involves a number of innocent people, including two young children. We don’t need your “hot takes” at this moment.

I'm sure all of them knew he was a sleazy shitbag since he openly flirted with random girls on tours. We don't know if they knew of the full blown relationship he had with the employee though. I doubt they would ever admit it if they knew about it before it became public.

i hope that’s the case - aren’t ariel and keith’s wife (becky?) very close friends? it’s a shame if keith knew that he’s “always like this” in terms of being flirty with random fans, but i guess we’ll never know if any of them actually had any idea on how far it went.

Seems like they were cutting him out of the videos for a while now, alongside with Alex, so I’m sure they knew and they were preparing for this but now that it blew up they could react quickly.

Oh he is ducked from a legal pov. What are they going to do with all the merchandise etc too. They might have to buy him out

Least they can just change to the Tri Guys lol

See I feel like letting him flirt with random girls is a lot worse than having him go off with an employee (assuming it was consensual and the power imbalance didn’t affect it)

The power imbalance between fans and the influencer seem a lot worse to me and even if they’re not a fan, offering them tickets to come and see you on tour or whatever adds that power imbalance back. If the guys knew and didn’t do anything about it they were enabling that behaviour too
