I’ve got all of these! And I’ve got the island living one too, and get to work. I rarely use get to work, and I sometimes use island living as a day trip out for my families but rarely live there.

what was different about the game play between sims3 and sims4? I know something is missing but I can’t put my finger on it.
Sims 3 seems more immersive to me and I liked the open world which in Sims 4 you don't really have. Also I think for the Sims 3 you got to pick more personality traits and I think sims had wants and wishes (not sure if that's what it was called exactly) which were influenced by their personality traits and long term amibition.

I miss the open world. I honestly hardly bother to go out of my neighbourhood lot in the Sims 4 because the loading screens

I think the sims in sims 3 had more varied personality and better lifetime aspirations, careers and hobbies they could aspire to. Sims 4 is so linear with the emotions and their version of lifetime aspirations. Plus if you like playing with families, sims 3 Generations adds so much gameplay compared to sims 4 where honestly the baby, toddler and child life stages are just skippable.

Got the Sims 1 as soon as it came out and nearly failed my GCSEs as a result 😂. Late 30s here. These days I mainly just supervise my children playing it but that new cottage pack is tempting. I want the chickens.

Sims 1 seems so nostalgic 🤣 I remember playing as a child with my friends all gathered around the computer

it looks terrible now, but at the time it was the height of modern! Must have been late 90s/early 00s??

At the time it was great 😂 my brother and I had to share the game because we had the one computer with dial up Internet. He had the Goths as his family to play and Bob and Betty were mine

Me too. In the Sims 3 I loved playing single person households where they'd just go and explore the neighbourhoods every day and meet so many people. Sims 4 feels like it took a step back because now the lots feel a bit isolated and it has taken away from the game. I'm seriously considering repurchasing the Sims 3 again 😅

I agree with missing the open world. I find Sims 4 quite limiting when starting out and / or playing on smaller lots or in apartments. To have to travel to find larger items like jungle gyms or workout gear just isn’t worth going through the loading screens, the game loses its momentum. The City pack was a waste of money for me for that reason, I can never be bothered to take my Sims to the festivals in town and the ‘event’ when I do is glitchy and goes on for hours so they’re all always exhausted and starving by the time they can leave.

I might have to go back to Sims 3 for a bit, even though the genetics were awful and everyone had a potato face. I loved the puzzle solving elements of World Adventures and Generations is probably my fave Sims pack ever.

You’re all making me want to play Sims 3 right now! It looks a bit tit on my laptop even though it’s a fairly new gaming laptop. Especially when I’m so used to Sims 4 graphics. But I could probably live with that for the sake of open world play and colour customising almost every item.

I love Cottage Living, the aesthetics, the living off the land, the errands for neighbours, but like every pack I’ve got bored of it very quickly. It feels like you’re still doing the same old, same old. I think I’ve played Sims 4 for so long I’m just a bit bored at the moment. I’ve had Sims that have completed collections, completed most of the aspirations, done the Outdoor Retreat and Jungle Adventure, become a millionaire. I feel like there’s no goal to aim for at the moment other than what I’ve already done before. Maybe I need to do one of those crazy challenges like have 100 babies!

I get bored of every pack eventually 🙈 I loved all the holidays in seasons when I first got it, now I bloody hate it. I should turn them off really I get so annoyed when they have a bad holiday and then are in a mood for 2 days!

out of interest, how do you normally start a game? With a family or a single sim? I normally have a single sim and do rags to riches.

I normally start with a man and woman doing rags to riches. I get them to have a child early on so that I can work building the child’s skills up so when it’s an adult can get a better job quicker. Although since I have had the tiny living pack and it’s so quick to get adults to skill up I’ve just been starting with one sim.

Does anyone else find the Sims lifespan is so short on Sims 4? They die so quickly!
Yes. My family's dad sim died in the kitchen a few days ago whilst making pancakes for his son's birthday 😭. I swear he had only been an elder for a week or so.

Yeah it's not the best birthday they've ever had is it 😂. I think you can adjust how many days each life stage on the game options menu if you think it goes too quickly!
