Hello all! My big lump's eye seems to be doing well, it certainly has not gotten any worse and he's been opening his eye more, redness has gone down. But he's now been having the drops for a week and I noticed only yesterday and today that he's now acting scared of me - spending a lot of time outside, scared to take treats off me, etc. I thought if it was the eye drops he'd simply be scared from the first time I did them... not a week into them!!! Baffling but I'm a bit worried.

Sadly all my old photos got destroyed in a flood & haven't been able to take many recently, as my eyesight is poor & I have arthritis in my hands. Back from the vet with my boy. The missing tooth is fine! But he has 2 others that are showing signs of tooth resorption which can apparently be really painful.
They're going to send me an estimate of costs across but just wondered if anyone else had had their cats teeth removed and then others cleaned. I don't think my insurance will cover it so I'm preparing myself for a huge bill

Ditto, we adopted Loki in March 2019 and within 6 weeks his teeth surgery and urinary crystals cost us £1400Oh all the years I’ve had my bubbas,teeth not insured and most expensive vet bills ever.
Insurance is definitely worth it! Last year, my kitten started throwing up and wouldn’t eat or drink or go to the toilet. I took her to the vets where she needed multiple tests, they suspected she might have pancreatitis and needed a scan which was £1,500. My vet bills were going to be about £2,000 and without insurance I would have struggled. I also know multiple pet owners that have faced bills of over £5,000+ but luckily they all had insurance.
Just to add, i made a claim online and it was paid within a few days. It was really easy and I would always recommend having insurance!
100% my wee boy got a UTI, which became other things, and ended up really poorly. Had to take him to the emergency vet at 1am, then collect him at 6am and take him up to the small animal hospital. He was in there for 3 nights. Full total was £8.5k, insurance paid it all, direct to both vets in about 4 days.

My beautiful Pooh died from complications of a bad UTI, among other things. My husband bought a kidney and bladder supplement for Thor and Susan, they're both turning 11 soon and we don't want to take any chances so they're having it every day.
We are lucky, the vet we go to let us pay off what we owed for Pooh's care.
That's heartbreaking
it's so scary how something seemingly so simple is life threatening for them. I'm like you, taking no chances, the cystophan is a lifesaver for me. He's not a great drinker which isn't good so I add a teaspoon of water to meals, and to his creamy catit things. He's such a rascalI too now give Loki Cystaid x3 a week ( he had a reoccurance 15 months ago) touch wood he's been OK
