Come on now. She’s not the one doing any of the actual work, although I guarantee she won’t mention any of the people who are. What will Kate’s early years work, Shaping Up etc do? I know she wants to raise awareness but what will the actual support look like?
I just don’t see how this can translate to actual change and improvement, it seems like it might be needed at a government level? She could bring out ‘baby boxes’ (like in Norway) in the poorest parts of the country and include babygrows, east recipes to make when you lack time, vouchers for supermarkets etc.Come on now. She’s not the one doing any of the actual work, although I guarantee she won’t mention any of the people who are.
I’m not sure what anyone thinks she’s actually raising awareness of. Are there many people who didnt think that Early Years education is of fundamental importance until Kate pointed it out?
I don’t believe her heart is really in this. I think it’s just a vanity project to make her look empathetic and caring. She’s neither.
Spot on, and social astronaut is perfectCarol is the ultimate social astronaut. She must be very determined and resourceful.
I bet if you are no use to her she is very dismissive. It does put me off Kate a bit, but maybe she is different.
Scotland already does baby boxes, she probably needs something that can go nationwide.I just don’t see how this can translate to actual change and improvement, it seems like it might be needed at a government level? I’ve had quite a bit to do with various royals via various charities, and I know for a fact that in the vast majority of cases, a personal cheque donation is given quietly during the visit and you’re told by their equerries not to mention it in press activity or publicly. They do their good works quietly, unlike some.I do think them going to places like that and acting like theyre "like us" is a slap in the face and i do wonder them supporting places like that is counter-productive since they can't fundraise/donate.
Also, either someone had a word with them or they're trying to deflect from Andrew/Harry with all these extra engagements they're doing!
Ooo didn’t know that! Such a pity they don’t happen in England. You’re right, something nationwide is the way to go!Scotland already does baby boxes, she probably needs something that can go nationwide.
Would be a really good idea.Ooo didn’t know that! Such a pity they don’t happen in England. You’re right, something nationwide is the way to go!
Having worked in early years education for most of my career it is surprising that parents don't actually know what we do in childcare. A lot just see it as they pay for us to play, clean up their kids shit and look after them when they're ill (when parents refuse to pick up). Oh, and often, toilet train their children too.Come on now. She’s not the one doing any of the actual work, although I guarantee she won’t mention any of the people who are.

A lot of teachers are complaining that parents don't even teach theirkidsthe basics like toilet training or how to use a knife and fork, that is THEIR job for heavens sake.Having worked in early years education for most of my career it is surprising that parents don't actually know what we do in childcare. They literally have no idea of the research that goes into early years education, and the years of background theory that shapes what we do.
But these are the sort of parents that probably won't give a shit about this anyway. As long as people are there to bring up their kids, that's all that matters to them.
I work in a school now and the amount coming into reception still in nappies is ridiculous. And covid has only made this worse as now the children lack the communication skills to actually do this.A lot of teachers are complaining that parents don't even teach theirkidsthe basics like toilet training or how to use a knife and fork, that is THEIR job for heavens sake.
My young friend is a teacher in Reception. Going back into the classroom after the lockdown nearly broke her. The number of children that had regressed with regard to toileting, using cutlery and their speech was ridiculous. She said it was like going back to before square one before she could even think about actual lessons.I work in a school now and the amount coming into reception still in nappies is ridiculous. I think that's counter-productive why not say they made a personal donation, especially to a food bank where it's a win-win for them. Thinking of the food bank this has been doing rounds on twitter....I’ve had quite a bit to do with various royals via various charities, and I know for a fact that in the vast majority of cases, a personal cheque donation is given quietly during the visit and you’re told by their equerries not to mention it in press activity or publicly. It's actually a pretty generous package and not means tested, every baby in Scotland gets one. It comes with a mattress and fitted sheet, so can be used for sleeping in for the first few months. Full list of what's included here: https://www.parentclub.scot/baby-boxOoo didn’t know that! Such a pity they don’t happen in England. You’re right, something nationwide is the way to go!
So what? Does he really think President Johnson or President Blair wouldn't turn up at any visit without motorcade, armed escort, expensive clothes and photographers and assistants alongside? In fact I don't remember either visiting a foodbankI think that's counter-productive why not say they made a personal donation, especially to a food bank where it's a win-win for them. The fact that her mother's nickname was duchess probably gives an idea of what she was like, she certainly gave her daughter the work ethic because Party Pieces was just a little part time venture she thought of at Kate's 5th birthday when she was looking for decorations and party items.Carol is the ultimate social astronaut. She must be very determined and resourceful.

Blair was around in the 90s early noughties how many food banks were there in Britain in the 60's and 90s/noughties?So what? Kate doesn't seem to have inherited the work ethic DNA !!!The fact that her mother's nickname was duchess probably gives an idea of what she was like, she certainly gave her daughter the work ethic because Party Pieces was just a little part time venture she thought of at Kate's 5th birthday when she was looking for decorations and party items.
It is now a multi million pound company.
No but at least when they turn up at an event like that you can call them out for the hypocrisy and not have to stand there and clap like a seal and pretend they're amazing. So what?
