I think Harry and Meghan never wanted to live a private life. Otherwise you would not read a statement on a political/global matter from them every few weeks as if they are some kind of institution. They seem both interested to be on the international/american stage. It seems not to be a huge success for now. If they managed to have contents that are not related to the RF or Harry's traumatic childhood - like the podcasts with spotify or some documentary on netflix they would have more legitimacy.

There are hundred of charities - why theirs would be more special than any other to give them the kind of platform they are looking for? I don't think Harry's memoirs or their constant complains in the press will help them to achieve their goal.
I think it goes to show just how unsuited to ‘normal‘ life he actually is. His job was Prince and he has just tried to transpose that onto whatever he’s doing now.

it just goes to show that if it’s hard to be in the RF, being ‘normal’ isn't A walk in the park, either.

My mams friend had an interesting day at work today. She was unsure of W+K before but says they were interested, informed and warm. She’s sold over now.

A relative of mine worked at Buckingham Palace and said the young ones (William, Kate, Harry, Beatrice, Eugenie) were always kind, friendly, chatty and “normal”. Said he’d hide when he saw the Queen or Philip coming as he felt uncomfortable that he’d say or do the wrong thing!

I subscribe to Private Eye they have a regular column "Court Circular" which publishes stories about Royal Life on an "anonymous" basis. They detail the recent defenestration of Prince Andrew.

Their source is most likely a gossipy senior royal family employee. You should know that Private Eye has a code for the Royals Brenda=HMQE2, Brian=PC. The text and column are from EYE 1565 The 'spin' on this story if there is any is that William had no compunction is despatching Uncle Andrew, where "weak" Prince Charles was more equivocal

COURT CIRCULAR
PRINCE WILLIAM's victory over Uncle Andrew is complete. Despite attempts by Team Brian to spin last week's sacking as his own doing, it was his eldest son who again struck the final blow.
In 2019 it was the second in line who pressed Brenda into exiling Andrew after his fateful Newsnight encounter with Emily Maitlis – rather than Brian, who was overseas and had approved the interview idea in the first place (Eve 1510). And with his father away, it was William who was at Windsor last week when advance news arrived that Andrew had failed to get Virginia Giuffre's case against him thrown out.
It had been no coincidence that William and Kate had their first private Cambridge-only Christmas Day last month rather than take their children to sit at the same table as the friend of a convicted paedophile whose former confidante was on trial for sex trafficking.
Andrew, whose entitled style of royalty and treatment of commoner Kate when she arrived on the scene still riles William, saw none of this coming. He remained convinced the Newsnight interview, though uncomfortable, had cleared his name and that he had handled Maitlis well, until summoned by his mother to be told otherwise. That, it turns out, was just phase one of Operation York.
Brenda, always loyal to her second son, had assumed his exile would be temporary. Andrew expected his mother would allow him back to a semi-royal life. As the stalemate stretched beyond two years, his mother feared taking further action against him would imply she now thought him guilty.
It was Judge Lewis A Kaplan who gave Brenda the get-out clause by giving Andrew no option but to face the judicial music. Courtiers knew they had to seize the moment but were unsure how to approach Brenda about it. Fortunately for them, William was at Windsor to conduct an investiture, and with the backing of the rest of his family took control, persuading his granny that she had to sign off phase two of Operation York.
It wasn't meant to have happened like it did. It had been expected Andrew would stand aside from his military roles and royal patronages himself, sparing Brenda from having to sack him. Instead there followed 24 hours of wrangling
The showdown came when Andrew went to Windsor Castle to plead his case personally with his mum. But this was no private audience - officials were present, and despite a request by Andrew that they leave the room, they remained. Documents detailing what military roles and patronages were being removed were handed to
Andrew, but it was made clear his signature wasn't required. And he was shown the cold, terse statement that was to be issued to show his downfall was complete.
His HRH is gone, but not formally removed, meaning Andrew can still use the title on his tombstone. One concession he was allowed was for this aspect of his disgrace to be removed from the formal notice issued by the palace. For now, his position in the line of succession and his dukedom remain unchanged, mainly because they require legislation to change. He can still fly his personal standard and retain the many
gongs Brenda has given him. But Andrew has been left in no doubt that Operation York has a phase three ready to be activated if he doesn't clear his name in New York. And he really won't like that.

William will be fabulous King. Firm but fair. He reminds me a lot of Prince Philip, without the gaffs.

Andrew should have done the decent thing a long time ago and never have put his mother i this position.

There was something a few days ago in the media that Harry was horrified by Andrew's attitude to staff once he was old enough to really mix with his uncles and aunt as an adult. Diana had brought both William and Harry up to be polite to everyone, to say please and thank you to staff. Andrew, by contrast, is rude to absolutely everyone, particularly staff, and expects everyone to fall at his feet. There's that story of a weekend house party where he expected fellow guests to get up from their seats and say "good morning, your royal highness" when he entered a room, for a start. They were said to have completely ignored him.

How ironic that he married a woman with similar traits to his uncle!

From today's Popbitch:

>> Andy management <<
How not to handle a prince

As Prince Andrew's non-stop humiliation roadshow continues, this week saw a former protection officer reveal that Andrew would 'shout and scream' if maids ever dared disturb his teddy bear collection. This isn't the first story former staff have told about the Prince's petulant streak. If you can believe it, he can be quite a tetchy auld prick.

THE SPORTS CAR
One officer remembers the time Andrew stormed into their office at Windsor, absolutely livid that someone had moved his sports car, yelling at them and calling them every name under the sun. When it later transpired that Princess Anne had been the one to move his car, Andrew never apologised to the officers – nor mentioned the incident ever again.

THE MUCKY BOWL
There is supposedly a toilet in Edinburgh airport that is reserved for the Royals' use whenever they pass through. Many years ago, when Andrew was on his way to play golf nearby, he needed to use the facilities. However, it appeared someone else had used this special toilet first and had left a little reminder behind. The sight of which caused the Duke to storm out, screaming "IS THIS HOW YOU TREAT THE bleeping ROYALS?"

Old Jokes Home
Q/ What's the difference between a Prince Albert and a Prince Andrew?

The more I hear about William the more I like him.

He may have a temper (rumours) but there are lots and lots of historical and recent reports - not just PR but from the public - about how considerate, kind and conscientious he and Kate are.

They are obviously aware of their "position", but they are also acutely aware of the humanity of people around them. They have grown into their position of future King and Queen Consort of England since their marriage, taken time out with their children, and to develop their adult (after all they were barely out of their teens) and "professional royal status" with the public and their charities.

Now their slow and considered approach to their personal and Royal lives is appreciated - if only because the way the Twunts in Cali "grifted" us by the way they railroaded everything and tried to abuse their status for financial and personal gain prior to and after Megxit!

What a load of offensive crap.

The royal family are the dictionary definition of “bystanders to injustice or prejudice” as they do not intervene on political or newsworthy issues pertaining to injustice or prejudice.
Because of how the British constitutional system works - we don't know the extent of their behind the scenes influence. The Guardian newspaper does good work in digging out their influence in contemporary life

The most obvious example from history is

The Entente Cordiale was the culmination of the policy of Théophile Delcassé, France’s foreign minister from 1898, who believed that a Franco-British understanding would give France some security against any German system of alliances in western Europe. Credit for the success of the negotiation belongs chiefly to Paul Cambon, France’s ambassador in London, and to the British foreign secretary Lord Lansdowne; but the pro-French inclination of the British sovereign, Edward VII, was a contributory factor.

In summary our unelected King was loved in Paris and decided that we should be firm allies with the French, and moved our foreign policy to support this view.

he cheated on her with her best friend, how could anyone like or respect him still lmao
because they gave a good organization a public boost and seemed engaged, informed and happy to be there? It’s a work function she doesn’t have to be in love with every decision he makes in his personal life - even the unproven ones.

They've been to an excellent organisation today - a Street Church run by a pastor who's a reformed drug dealer, which is intended to catch those who fall through the gaps. Food bank, clothes bank, meals, showers, counselling, alcohol and drugs help, and so on. W&K saw a BBC programme on this and asked to visit, so they were interested enough and this of course will bring a lot of attention and hopefully donations. They spoke, amongst others, to a young boy who'd lost his mother last year and William seemed keen to share advice from his own experience.

Of course, this week both Charles and William have managed to dodge answering any questions about Andrew!

thats the one! By all accounts Mike is doing a great job. I just didn’t have the energy to explain why.

Back to the royals they have dodged questions about Andrew extremely well this week. Plenty of practice and prepping for them I’d say.

Apparently they wanted to visit here after seeing it on the TV.

I have difficulty seeing PW as anything other than a spoiled brat after the Christmas story of not wanting to watch a particular film with the staff, making them change it then buggering off to shoot instead at the last minute.
