The next James Bond

I’m of The Inbetweeners generation…. So as much as I’ve tried, I can’t and never will be able to watch Theo James without thinking about 💩 hanging out of his nose.
And for that reason, I can’t have him playing the role of one of my favourite film characters.

I wouldn't be surprised if they've already approached a number of people who've turned it down due to the commitment, I'm guessing someone young will take the bait.

The DM have gone full on with several articles about ATJ today too.

I'm hoping he's just got a good publicist. He's not for me and he looks older than 33.

This whole "who is the next Bond" saga has been going on for so long it's become quite boring, but still not quite as boring as No Time To Die was...

Bond doesn't really need a great deal of acting skill. He has no real personality, a very vague backstory, very few emotions and even his motives aren't clear or interesting. They won't use someone even slightly unusual-looking because of the amount of stunt doubling needed. It'll be someone blandly handsome in a clean-cut way, probably British, who can deliver lines reliably and use a bit of body language. He won't be a god-tier actor either, they don't need the work and won't want to be tied into a lengthy contract.

after recently joining the Theo James appreciation club I really really hope he’s the next bond!!!!

I think they should put Bond to bed for a bit, like they did between Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan.

It will likely end up doing that anyway. There was 6 years between Dalton and Brosnan, and we are already 3 years on from Daniel Craig's last movie.

The gap between Dalton and Brosnan wasn't planned. It was caused by legal issues. There should have been a third Dalton film but by time the legal stuff was sorted Dalton was out of contract. Dalton said he would do one more but Cubby wanted more so they parted ways and then Pierce finally got his chance.

They're probably still trying to work out how to bring Bond back after the dreadful No Time To Die. 🤬 🤬

For me that was the worst Bond film ever and that's saying something given Quantum of Solace was absolutely rit.

I've never seen a Bond film all the way through, although I've seen most of Goldeneye and OHMSS. OHMSS would have been a decent film if it had featured a lead actor who could actually act.

I have a fondness for OHMSS because we were shown it as a treat at school in the 80's on a big screen lol.
I love Goldeneye, I also quite enjoyed Timothy Dalton as Bond.

They changed Bond to make him acceptable to younger audiences and it'll backfire. Bond was a love them and leave them. No one wanted to watch a love story with kids.

The problem now is they don't know how to move the franchise forward and it will die a death. I think they'll go for a woman Bond but it will fall flat.

Thing is you could have a female 007, but not a female James Bond. Then it becomes a completely different character. Which is fine if that's the way you want to go, but don't call it James Bond.

The Daniel Craig era had some of the worst movies of the whole franchise. They could maybe go younger and go the prequel route, or just ignore the final movie like nothing happened.
